Price suggestions, and prices that move with demand

Let BrightStar's Smart Pricing raise or lower your ticket prices inside a range you set, or ask you first.

Most organizers set a ticket price once, by feel, and never touch it again — even as a kirtan fills up faster than expected, or a retreat sits half-empty a week out. BrightStar's pricing tools give you two ways to respond: Smart Pricing can ask you first before it changes a price, or it can change prices for you. Either way, nothing changes on your event until you turn Smart Pricing on for that event.

Suggestions versus automatic movement

Smart Pricing is turned on once for the whole event, and every eligible paid ticket tier moves together by the same proportion. You choose how it acts when demand changes.

In "Ask me first" mode, BrightStar proposes a price move, either up or down, and waits for you. You can apply it or dismiss it. A suggestion is based on the last 48 hours of page views and buyers. Ticket sell-through is used only to stop a price from being lowered when most tickets are already sold.

In "Change automatically" mode, BrightStar makes the move for you inside the range you set, and emails you each time.

Why the boundaries matter

The highest and lowest prices you set are what make automatic movement safe to leave running. You choose how far up it may go and how far down, or choose never to lower. Prices only move between those limits, never past them. Prices are also frozen in the last hours before the event starts.

What happens to someone who already bought a ticket

Buyers who already have tickets in their cart keep the price they saw.

What gets kept

Every price change that Smart Pricing makes, that you approve, or that you make by reverting to your base prices is recorded in a price history on the event. Each entry shows the tier, the old and new price, the percent change, the reason, and whether the change was automatic, approved by you, or made by you. If you change a price by hand, Smart Pricing pauses and leaves every price where it is.

Where to find it

Dashboard → Gatherings → your event → Sales. Smart Pricing appears there as its own panel, where you can turn it on, set the range, choose the mode, pause, resume, or revert to base prices.

If you are trying this for the first time, choose "Ask me first" for one full event cycle. You see each suggested move and its reason before any price changes, and you can decide whether to let prices change automatically next time.

Common questions

Will BrightStar change my ticket prices without me asking?

No. On BrightStar, Smart Pricing only works once you turn it on for an event, and it moves prices only inside the range you set. If you never turn it on, your prices stay exactly where you put them.

Turning it on is a choice made for the whole event, not for a single ticket type. You can also choose "Ask me first" so that nothing changes until you apply a suggestion.

What does BrightStar base a price suggestion on?

BrightStar Smart Pricing looks at the last 48 hours of page views and buyers for your event. Strong conversion suggests a raise, and weak conversion suggests a lower price. Ticket sell-through is used only to stop a price from being lowered when most tickets are sold.

If your event has too few page views to read, Smart Pricing waits for more traffic before suggesting anything.

Does someone who already bought a ticket pay more if the price goes up?

No. A later price change on BrightStar applies to later buyers only. Buyers who already have tickets in their cart also keep the price they saw.
