Yoga Retreat
Description
The Dharma Yoga Immersion Weekend is an advanced yoga retreat at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It is led by Sri Dharma Mittra, the founder of Dharma Yoga, who has been on the path of yoga full-time for almost 60 years. Through asana, pranayama, meditation and Vedantic philosophy, experienced practitioners study a traditional yet thoroughly modern method directly with its source.
What to Expect
The weekend runs from a Friday afternoon check-in to a Sunday lunch departure, with Sri Dharma Mittra's program sessions woven between Kripalu's own daily classes and meals.
The teaching centers on four threads:
- Essential asanas to stretch and strengthen every muscle in the body.
- Breathing exercises for specific conditions.
- Guided meditation for deep healing.
- Spiritual knowledge to support progress toward self-realization.
Opening day begins with check-in at 2:00 pm, a Kripalu Yoga class from 4:45 to 6:00, dinner from 5:30 to 7:30, and a first program session from 7:30 to 9:00 in the evening.
On the full days, the rhythm is steady. A Kripalu Yoga class runs from 6:30 to 7:45 am, followed by silent breakfast from 7:30 to 9:00. The morning program session is from 9:00 to 11:30, lunch from 11:30 to 1:30, and the afternoon session from 1:30 to 4:00. Another Kripalu Yoga class follows from 4:45 to 6:00, then dinner from 5:30 to 7:30.
The closing day starts the same way, with morning yoga and silent breakfast, then a final program session from 9:00 to 11:30. Lunch and departure follow, from 11:30 to 1:30. Times may shift, and the schedule given at check-in confirms room locations.
