[0:00] hello and welcome to another episode of
[0:02] the markr podcast let me Begin by
[0:04] acknowledging you that you're clearly
[0:08] interested in getting better at humaning
[0:10] right in in developing better relating
[0:13] awareness better skills increased
[0:16] emotional intelligence just like really
[0:18] learning how do you master this Human
[0:20] Experience and the truth is is that
[0:22] there is an infinite amount of
[0:24] information and there's infinite
[0:27] opportunity I should say to get better
[0:29] at relationship and whether that's
[0:31] romantic or corporate or interpersonal
[0:34] we can always get more exceptional like
[0:37] you never actually reach the destination
[0:39] of ultimate Mastery and I think that's
[0:42] the beautiful thing about this is that
[0:44] what brings you into the work is usually
[0:45] trying to fix something something that's
[0:47] going on and maybe you're there right
[0:49] now like heal heartbreak figure out how
[0:51] to pick better people how to deepen your
[0:53] relationship how to figure out whether
[0:55] to stay or go how to get better at
[0:57] giving birth to your purpose like
[0:59] stepping more into your dream expressing
[1:01] yourself you know your relationship to
[1:03] your body all of these are relationship
[1:05] things you're in relationship with
[1:07] everything that is not you and that's
[1:09] why every friction we have with
[1:10] everything we relate to is an
[1:12] opportunity to grow an opportunity to
[1:15] see and get a window into what we need
[1:17] to change so I wanted to start there to
[1:19] say like I see you and keep going
[1:22] because transformation is possible for
[1:24] everybody today I am interviewing one of
[1:27] my favorite teachers in the subject of
[1:28] attachment and what I continue to learn
[1:31] relationally and especially about the
[1:33] subject of attachment is I can always
[1:35] learn more and I'm always Blown Away by
[1:37] insights that I get from teachers who
[1:40] specialize in that Adam Lane Smith is
[1:43] the attachment specialist learning
[1:45] what's possible building the practical
[1:46] skills necessary to achieve what's
[1:49] possible and having a partner who is
[1:50] willing to fully collaborate with you in
[1:53] trust and good faith those are the three
[1:55] components needed for a healthy
[1:57] relationship and he has a profound
[1:59] YouTube channel Instagram and he really
[2:03] is masterful at giving us understanding
[2:06] of why we attach the way we do what is
[2:08] the sort of foundational pathology of
[2:10] our attachment style and that we can
[2:13] change it and he really has a beautiful
[2:15] lens on avoidantly attached people
[2:17] because so much of the this conversation
[2:20] about relationship is really focused on
[2:24] like how do we heal anxious attachment
[2:26] or how do we heal chasing avoidantly
[2:28] attached people and we can't talk about
[2:30] one without talking about the other and
[2:32] that's really a space that needs
[2:34] Improvement in the relational
[2:35] conversation Space is really how do we
[2:38] help facilitate the change of an
[2:40] avoidant person and how does an avoidant
[2:42] person build more self-awareness when
[2:44] most of the content is is created for
[2:47] anxiously attached people so with all
[2:49] that said you're going to learn a ton of
[2:50] new stuff today and you're going to want
[2:53] to stay to the end because he gives so
[2:55] many profound lessons throughout this
[2:57] but especially at the end we get like
[2:59] some real juicy ones secondly so you
[3:01] might be listening to this and not yet
[3:03] subscribed and I got to tell you each
[3:05] episode has many Pearls of Wisdom that
[3:07] can completely change your life and if
[3:09] not just change it actually allow you to
[3:12] continue to excel at it so you're going
[3:15] to want to hit the Subscribe button one
[3:16] so you don't miss any episodes and two
[3:18] it's super helpful when you hit that
[3:20] subscribe button it supports the show
[3:22] and gets it into higher rankings and
[3:24] into more people's ears and we can help
[3:26] create that love throughout the world
[3:28] and help everybody Excel and become
[3:31] better at life and especially at
[3:32] relationship so without further Ado
[3:35] let's go here's the episode with Adam
[3:37] Lane
[3:38] Smith hello and welcome to another
[3:40] episode of The Mark Groves podcast I've
[3:42] been anxiously God I don't even mean
[3:45] that as a pun I've been anxiously
[3:46] awaiting this podcast episode with Adam
[3:49] Lane Smith welcome mark it is so good to
[3:51] talk to you again I've been looking
[3:52] forward to this too yeah you know i' I
[3:54] stumbled on your videos when I believe
[3:57] you were on uh Conor beaton's podcast
[4:01] talks yeah and I'd seen uh you speaking
[4:04] about some things to do with attachment
[4:06] and then I was drawn to your feet of
[4:07] course I was like who is this guy
[4:09] dressed so Snappy and and really
[4:11] delivering like there's no censorship to
[4:14] the way you communicate about
[4:16] relationship and I think in a world
[4:18] where there's so much coddling we
[4:20] gravitate towards people who are not
[4:22] adding all the fluffy words they're like
[4:24] this is what I see this is what I know
[4:26] to be true and you have tons of clinical
[4:28] experience you come from such a
[4:30] background where you're so qualified to
[4:32] talk about everything you talk about but
[4:34] I love how simply you shape the
[4:36] conversation about relationships but
[4:38] also about attachment so I know my
[4:41] audience loves attachment so this is
[4:43] perfect well I'm glad to be here uh
[4:45] let's have a great conversation and
[4:47] let's make some people very
[4:48] uncomfortable yeah yeah perfect well the
[4:52] the focus I wanted to have with you
[4:54] today because I think that I don't even
[4:57] think this the avoidant get thrown to
[4:59] the dogs you know the avoidance like
[5:01] when we talk about attachment Theory
[5:04] anxiously attached people tend to be the
[5:06] ones consuming the podcast reading the
[5:08] things following us on on socials Etc
[5:12] and books like uh attached which is a
[5:15] fantastic book it doesn't really offer a
[5:18] solution to avoidance and so I'm curious
[5:22] for you like maybe first we could go
[5:24] through what is attachment just to give
[5:27] people a quick uh run up on it and then
[5:30] also yeah like how do avoidance if if
[5:34] someone's listening to this and they're
[5:35] anxious which is more
[5:37] likely how do we help support them and
[5:39] they're relating to their partners and
[5:41] how do we um how do we help the person
[5:44] who's listening who's avoidant because I
[5:45] know I have a lot of those listeners too
[5:47] absolutely hello listeners out there uh
[5:50] if you've been murky on attachment
[5:51] Theory we're going to make this really
[5:53] simple attachment is just the way we as
[5:55] kids learn to connect to people in our
[5:57] life to get our needs met sometimes we
[6:00] learn that people will talk with us
[6:02] kindly and that we will resolve issues
[6:04] together with them fairly peacefully and
[6:07] that they are trustworthy and that we
[6:09] are worthy of love and attention and
[6:11] that sounds like a fairy tale to a lot
[6:12] of people listening to this if that film
[6:14] sounds like unicorns farting rainbow
[6:16] dust then that's fine that is secure
[6:18] attachment and only about half of people
[6:20] in America have that anymore the other
[6:22] half have insecure attachment and all
[6:25] that means is that you learn that other
[6:27] people either will be arbitrary against
[6:29] you and they're just going to not care
[6:30] when they're stressed because they're
[6:31] going to be selfish and focused on them
[6:33] or you've learned that you yourself are
[6:35] not worthy of love and connection
[6:37] there's something deficient in you and
[6:38] you have to constantly play at a deficit
[6:41] to try to make other people like you and
[6:43] you have to earn approval from people
[6:44] you either are trying to not be
[6:45] abandoned or you are trying to not let
[6:48] people get too close because you don't
[6:49] want to get hurt those are the two ways
[6:51] that you can really break can you be
[6:52] both oh yes you can I get that all the
[6:54] time about 5% of people are both the
[6:57] combination where they start off getting
[6:58] anxious and thinking it's them and then
[7:00] they started to believe nope wait maybe
[7:02] other people are also crazy as well so
[7:04] they don't trust anybody uh that really
[7:06] is the way it breaks Mark is that making
[7:08] sense so far yeah that's great I really
[7:10] like that last part it's like I like you
[7:12] I'm a little uncertain you like
[7:16] me I'm gonna just take a little bit of a
[7:18] leave that's that's it with we call it
[7:21] disorganized style some people call it
[7:22] fearful avoidance style it's the uh you
[7:25] know they they romance you they walk you
[7:27] into The Cabin in the Woods it's so
[7:29] gorgeous and lovely and they say we're
[7:30] going to live here forever and then you
[7:32] say wonderful I can't wait to be with
[7:33] you forever and then they panic because
[7:36] they say oh god what have I done I'm
[7:37] alone with with you forever for the rest
[7:39] of my life they kick over a lamp they
[7:41] set the place on fire they leap out the
[7:43] window and then they're out in the woods
[7:45] alone and say oh no now I'm lonely and I
[7:47] regret this so they kick in the door and
[7:49] say I'm here to rescue you from the fire
[7:51] and they pick you up they leap out a
[7:52] different window they run off into the
[7:54] forest and then they build you a new
[7:55] cabin in the forest to prove how much
[7:57] they love you and the cycle repeats and
[7:59] and that really is the blend of the two
[8:01] it's very chaotic and and I make I make
[8:03] light of it but it it really is also
[8:05] turbulent and uncomfortable for them
[8:07] it's uncomfortable for everybody the
[8:09] reason that they're only 5% of the
[8:10] population is because it takes a lot of
[8:12] pain and struggle to reach that level of
[8:14] chaos because they have to not only get
[8:17] hurt enough to believe that they don't
[8:18] deserve love then they have to get hurt
[8:19] enough to believe that also other people
[8:22] are also incapable of Love they have to
[8:25] learn both and it's a it's a really
[8:27] painful experience for them growing up
[8:28] do you see an overlap because when I
[8:31] hear you talking about the sort of hot
[8:32] cold inout Cycles you know do you see an
[8:36] overlap in how maybe from a pop
[8:39] psychology perspective but also maybe if
[8:41] you can delineate the actual
[8:42] psychological perspective the overlap
[8:45] there with narcissism narcissism yeah
[8:47] absolutely great question so remember
[8:49] that narcissistic personality disorder
[8:51] is a full diagnosis just like borderline
[8:53] personality disorder these are
[8:55] essentially if you have a grid with
[8:57] anxious attachment and you have avoidant
[8:59] attachment over here here and then you
[9:00] have the blend of the two I kind of
[9:01] imagine it like up top right like a
[9:03] triangle here if you have those three uh
[9:06] personality disorders are extreme
[9:08] versions that have overtaken the entire
[9:11] ego of the human being so narcissistic
[9:13] personality disorder is off the scale
[9:14] over here on the other side of avoiding
[9:16] attachment style they've gone so far
[9:18] that it's been it's become who they are
[9:20] right borderline personality sort of
[9:22] would be off the scale of disorganized
[9:23] style up top the blend of the two right
[9:26] uh dependent personality disorder would
[9:28] be off the scale of anxious attack style
[9:30] unfortunately in schooling what they
[9:32] teach us in in graduate school in
[9:33] therapy school I was a licensed
[9:35] therapist for many years what they teach
[9:37] in most programs is attachment Theory
[9:39] doesn't matter it doesn't ma this this
[9:41] area doesn't matter at all unless you're
[9:43] a baby if you're an adult this doesn't
[9:45] matter and you don't have attachment
[9:47] issues to worry about unless you have
[9:48] full personality disorders off this off
[9:50] the chart if you do it's probably
[9:52] incurable don't worry about them anyway
[9:54] because you're going to diagnose them
[9:55] and they'll never come back so that's
[9:57] that's why most therapists don't learn
[9:58] about attachment Theory did you did you
[10:00] learn about attachment Theory from a
[10:01] therapist or anything or did you have to
[10:03] do some digging like I did yeah same man
[10:04] I do deep into it and when I first
[10:06] learned it I I remember being like holy
[10:09] [ __ ] this is such a great way to
[10:10] systemize The Human Experience it made a
[10:12] lot of my own behaviors make sense and
[10:15] then you know I I dove deep into like um
[10:18] hold me tight stuff from Sue Johnson and
[10:21] of course you you find your way through
[10:23] all the the teachers of it but yeah I
[10:26] mean I that would have been so helpful
[10:27] actually to teach me in junior high
[10:30] you know and and I think I'm curious
[10:33] your thoughts because I think like one
[10:34] of the
[10:35] resistances uh to teaching that maybe in
[10:38] junior high versus college or maybe even
[10:41] high school is that we're still in
[10:43] relationship to our parents so maybe
[10:45] they fear teaching a deficit in terms of
[10:48] the attachment one experiences while
[10:50] they're still in the home you know what
[10:51] I mean yeah I I don't think that we
[10:53] should be relying on the government or
[10:54] or public institutions at all to be
[10:56] teaching this to be honest with I don't
[10:58] you know the scariest word in the human
[11:00] language are I'm from what is it I'm
[11:01] from the government and I'm here to help
[11:03] yeah so it's I don't think that that's
[11:05] that's where we need to go it's that's a
[11:07] bit like parents Outsourcing morality to
[11:09] the church and saying you teach my kids
[11:11] I don't have time I I think what we need
[11:13] to be doing is rolling out a
[11:15] comprehensive program across everywhere
[11:18] everybody should be learning attachment
[11:19] theory for adults it should be blasted
[11:21] from every billboard I think it should
[11:22] be and that's what I'm trying to do is
[11:24] is do that myself it needs to be blasted
[11:26] everywhere so every human being hears
[11:28] about it and then every human being can
[11:30] start implementing it immediately in the
[11:31] home and we can start helping people
[11:33] maybe not everyone takes to it it's like
[11:35] force reeducation but we really need to
[11:37] give people those options right one of
[11:39] one of the biggest populations I'd love
[11:40] to teach about this and it's been the
[11:41] hardest nut to crack you alluded to it a
[11:43] little bit earlier is people with avoid
[11:45] an attachment style yeah when you wave
[11:47] when you wave in their face and say hey
[11:49] you have a label there's something wrong
[11:51] with you that's the last thing that
[11:52] they're already going to listen to
[11:53] because they've used they're used to
[11:55] people telling them something's wrong
[11:57] with you I don't like you shape up do
[11:59] better better you know how your acting
[12:01] is not good enough they're used to
[12:02] people smacking them in the face with
[12:04] with crap like that so it doesn't help
[12:06] and they're they're so deep into
[12:07] survival mode and they're high
[12:09] performance they're high functioning
[12:10] they're some of the most financially
[12:12] literate people in the world they have
[12:14] massive businesses that they've owned
[12:15] and operated and and built sometimes
[12:17] they serial entrepreneurs you know they
[12:19] they are the highest level of success
[12:22] that by most metrics that we would use
[12:24] and yet they are deeply unhappy in their
[12:26] personal life and they just take their
[12:28] loneliness and their lack of fulf for
[12:30] granted and they think that's the
[12:31] natural Human Experience so if I try to
[12:33] slap a label on them and say hi you're a
[12:35] man who has avoidant attachment style
[12:37] nice to meet you uh I'm going to correct
[12:39] you and no that ain't going to work why
[12:41] is it that they tend to have a
[12:43] predisposition to the things you're
[12:45] talking about like excelling in maybe as
[12:47] athletes excelling in the financial
[12:49] World excelling in their career their
[12:51] job fantastic fantastic question so
[12:53] anybody out there in the audience who
[12:55] who maybe loves somebody who's a high
[12:57] performer or anybody in the in the
[12:58] audience I'm sure many performers listen
[13:00] to you uh the research shows that high
[13:02] performing individuals are actually more
[13:03] likely to listen to podcast than than
[13:05] most other demographics they're trying
[13:07] they're trying to become educated right
[13:09] which is fantastic so hello over out
[13:10] everybody out there avoiding attachment
[13:12] style is a survival adaptation it's not
[13:14] something wrong with you it's not a
[13:16] chemical imbalance that's causing it I
[13:18] mean it can lead to chemical imbalances
[13:19] but it it is a survival adaptation that
[13:22] kicks on if you're Village 10,000 years
[13:25] ago was burned to the ground and Vikings
[13:28] were raiding and they were going to kill
[13:29] every body around you and take you back
[13:31] to Denmark and you're now a slave and
[13:33] you have to fight for life in the camps
[13:35] right and whatever it is um some people
[13:37] would knuckle under primarily women
[13:39] develop anxious attachment style of
[13:40] approval seeking almost like a Stockholm
[13:43] syndrome I'm not good enough you know
[13:44] I'll make everybody happy men typically
[13:47] develop more the avoidant attachment
[13:48] style where you shut off your ability to
[13:51] emotionally bond with others you
[13:53] understand that others nobody's coming
[13:54] to help you it is you alone so you trust
[13:57] resources you trust hard currency you
[13:59] trust tactics you trust strategy you
[14:03] trust understanding the people around
[14:05] you and being highly sensitive and
[14:07] Vigilant against changes you trust
[14:09] social status and power to keep you safe
[14:12] th this does not have to equal
[14:13] narcissism or sociopathic Behavior some
[14:15] of these people are the most ethical
[14:17] kind sensitive and and honest people
[14:20] you've ever met but they don't trust
[14:23] humans because humans have proven to be
[14:25] smothering or arbitrary against them and
[14:27] they are simply not able to trust the
[14:30] instability of other people especially
[14:32] during times of stress so this survival
[14:34] adaptation kicks on so of course they
[14:36] are going to be high functioning in in
[14:38] business it's matter of life and death
[14:40] of course they are going to be high
[14:41] functioning in finance and in strategy
[14:44] of course they're going to be excellent
[14:46] at thinking things through and thinking
[14:47] conversation through and risk assessing
[14:49] it is a matter of life and death to
[14:50] their brain it is and that's all they
[14:52] understand even to the point that high
[14:54] cortisol will flood through their system
[14:55] they'll be stressed all the time it
[14:57] actually goes on to the oxytocin
[14:58] receptors and block blocks the reception
[15:00] of oxytocin in their brain so while you
[15:02] uh while your while your girlfriend
[15:04] maybe is is laying on you getting all
[15:06] snuggly and oh I feel so close to you
[15:08] and snuggling into you right and nice
[15:11] snuggly blanky you're you're sitting
[15:13] there like like mechanically like allall
[15:15] tense thinking about okay my stock
[15:17] portfolio tomorrow I I need to go
[15:19] through my portfolio I need to clean
[15:20] these things out I need to make these
[15:21] changes I need to fire this guy and you
[15:24] can't relax you can't ever really relax
[15:26] Mark do you have you maybe known anybody
[15:28] like this in your life any good friends
[15:30] or something like that [ __ ] have I known
[15:32] it I've been it I remember coming out of
[15:35] an engagement in my late 20s where I
[15:38] would have been more avoidant but
[15:39] previously big betrayals in my early 20s
[15:42] late teens that led me to become
[15:44] avoidant I would have been more
[15:45] anxiously attached then but in
[15:47] unconsciously I started to create the
[15:49] narrative I could see in hindsight that
[15:51] that um love leads to betrayal love
[15:54] leads to pain so I'll just always limit
[15:56] the level of depth I can handle and then
[15:58] I was more um I had more of a
[16:00] predisposition to uh short relationships
[16:04] uh one night stands friends of benefits
[16:06] so I could control the depth I'd love
[16:08] you to break that down and and just to
[16:10] like put a bow on that it's like I
[16:12] remember dating casually this woman who
[16:16] was incredible and I remember her saying
[16:18] to me once on the couch she turned
[16:20] towards me and she said I'm really
[16:21] starting to like you and I felt my
[16:24] stomach this was not long after I ended
[16:27] that engagement and I felt my stomach
[16:30] seize I felt my like uh and if you had
[16:33] said like is she incredible I would have
[16:35] checked all the boxes of incredible she
[16:37] was I remember after that I I just shut
[16:40] down I couldn't communicate with her I
[16:42] ghosted her and I since 10 years later
[16:45] wrote her and apologized but she had
[16:48] said to me which I love uh if you had
[16:50] stayed a little longer I could have told
[16:51] you a lot of the things you discovered
[16:54] which I Lov but yeah so maybe you could
[16:56] break down like how that shows up with
[17:00] like more of a predisposition to friends
[17:03] of benefits more of a pred like the
[17:04] depth of intimacy control well let me
[17:07] ask you I I'll answer that in a moment
[17:08] but first first I want to ask you this
[17:11] what was it that her love in that moment
[17:13] represented to you it represented
[17:15] possibility and I could see like she
[17:17] could love me but I I think now in
[17:20] hindsight I wouldn't have known this at
[17:21] the time I didn't trust me in
[17:24] relationship to that I didn't know how
[17:26] to you know how you talked about how the
[17:28] avoidant
[17:30] sometimes takes like is worried about
[17:31] taking on other people's their their
[17:33] neediness their all that kind of stuff I
[17:35] didn't know how to actually be in a
[17:37] relationship with someone and have an
[17:38] end point like that that I could still
[17:41] be in discernment say yes or no to the
[17:43] thing say if it worked or it didn't have
[17:45] boundaries yeah yeah that's risk what
[17:49] you're talking about there is
[17:50] opportunity for pain risk you're talking
[17:53] about weighing risk uh for many avoidant
[17:55] men here's a simple calculation that
[17:57] they run in their brain what am I going
[17:59] to have to give up versus what am I
[18:02] going to receive now most avoidant men
[18:06] have never experienced the rush of
[18:09] oxytocin bonding that warmth that
[18:12] bonding right my male clients when I
[18:13] talk to them I say what's the biggest
[18:15] change they say all that weird feeling
[18:16] in your chest when your girlfriend hugs
[18:19] you and you feel like happy and warm and
[18:21] they get like this disgusted look like
[18:23] this warm Happy Feeling where you just
[18:25] want to relax and be together and like
[18:28] and but they love it but they also like
[18:30] it feels weird to them in the early in
[18:32] the early months it's they've never
[18:35] experienced that before they also
[18:36] usually haven't experienced the the
[18:38] contentment of of Serotonin release
[18:41] during an intimate open transparent
[18:43] conversation with somebody who accepts
[18:45] them somebody who's calm somebody who
[18:47] they they don't have to view that person
[18:48] as a problem to be solved they view that
[18:51] person as a as a an ally who would help
[18:54] them as somebody who cares about them
[18:56] someone they can relax in their presence
[18:58] avoid are endlessly tracking risk all
[19:01] the time every word is a risk they taste
[19:03] every single word before they let it out
[19:06] of their mouth this is why when someone
[19:07] asks them a question they go and they
[19:10] freeze for 30 seconds and they don't
[19:12] speak and their girlfriend's like I
[19:14] asked you a question are you going to
[19:15] say anything and he's like and he's
[19:17] thinking like at top speed of like 15
[19:19] different things to say and and chasing
[19:22] down all the Avenues of what she could
[19:24] say in return and how they're going to
[19:25] break up at the end of the and so he
[19:27] gets paralyzed by that fear it happens
[19:29] happens a lot that is avoiding
[19:30] attachment style and that's why
[19:32] unfortunately these men when they when
[19:34] they run that equation the risk is
[19:36] massively High and the reward is
[19:38] massively low and the and the the risk
[19:41] of pain and betrayal and all of that is
[19:43] so low um you had said something really
[19:47] cool a moment ago sad I'm sorry not not
[19:49] fun but like it's it's fascinating to me
[19:51] long ago I can process it okay you said
[19:53] something really cool which was you had
[19:55] been hurt and betrayed multiple times
[19:58] and you you made a ision at that point
[20:00] that I will never get hurt like this
[20:02] again so I'm going to limit other
[20:04] people's access to hurt me even if it
[20:06] means I limit the the connection that I
[20:08] feel with them and that that right there
[20:11] is that's that's you running the
[20:12] equation right so true and I was engaged
[20:15] to a woman who was incredible again
[20:17] 5-year relationship where I didn't you
[20:20] know it wasn't the right fit quote
[20:22] unquote you know and I and I believe
[20:25] that to be true but if I could go back
[20:27] if I had the opportunity to take a time
[20:29] machine and I could actually process the
[20:31] betrayals and know how attachment was
[20:33] showing up I mean it led me to this work
[20:35] so I'm so grateful for the gift of it um
[20:38] but I look back and I'm like wow had had
[20:41] there been a podcast like this at the
[20:43] time this conversation there would have
[20:45] been context to the woman telling me she
[20:47] liked me on the couch and oh I'm like I
[20:50] this is what's actually happening I
[20:51] could sit through that with her or not
[20:53] but I could decide I maybe I need to be
[20:55] on my own and heal my nervous system you
[20:57] know there's a fun little activity that
[20:59] I go through to help people understand
[21:00] what it's like to be avoidantly attached
[21:03] okay let's let's roll through this for
[21:05] any women for any women in the audience
[21:07] that you are frustrated because maybe
[21:08] you have an avoidant man in your life
[21:10] and he doesn't understand how much you
[21:12] love him and he acts as though your love
[21:14] for him has no meaning or no value let
[21:17] me share with you something that will
[21:18] help you very clearly understand exactly
[21:21] what he's thinking when he throws Your
[21:23] Love in the garbage can in front of you
[21:25] okay Mark I think you laugh at this okay
[21:27] I call it the the SE shell story okay
[21:30] let's pretend you live in a village Mark
[21:32] you live in a nice little village on the
[21:33] edge of the ocean there are pink sea
[21:36] shells everywhere all over the shoreline
[21:39] and for some reason your village has
[21:41] chosen to use pink seashells as its
[21:43] currency okay now anybody in this
[21:46] Village can pick up any amount of pink
[21:48] sea shells and pay for anything any
[21:50] amount that they want it is the worst
[21:52] currency in the world because it's just
[21:53] endlessly available everywhere but for
[21:55] some reason every human being in your
[21:58] village is OB obsessed with pink
[21:59] seashells and the more pink seashells
[22:02] they can get for something the better it
[22:03] is okay you have no idea you have no
[22:06] idea why these idiots are are just
[22:08] obsessed with pink sea shells you are
[22:10] collecting things that are practical you
[22:12] protect you you get wood you get iron or
[22:15] you are collecting all these various
[22:17] intricate resources in your home
[22:19] everybody else thinks you're crazy
[22:21] because you're stockpiling resources
[22:22] they've all got pink seashells they have
[22:24] three a four-bedroom house and
[22:26] three-bedroom full of pink seashells
[22:28] okay with one narrow little area to
[22:30] sleep in they're obsessed you have no
[22:33] idea why okay yeah they're pretty
[22:34] seashells but get over it you are
[22:36] practical okay you are very careful one
[22:39] day the most beautiful woman in the
[22:41] village okay she comes to you and she
[22:43] says I have a proposition for you in
[22:46] exchange for half of everything you own
[22:50] everything for the rest of your life I
[22:53] am going to give you the biggest pink
[22:56] sea shell you have ever seen in your
[22:59] your life it's in look at it it's huge
[23:02] and you
[23:03] go okay well well and you look at your
[23:06] pile of actual practical things that
[23:08] make sense and you say well what else
[23:10] can you offer me she says well have you
[23:13] what do you mean look it's it's big it's
[23:15] the biggest seashell you've ever seen in
[23:17] your life and you say yeah uh thank you
[23:20] I see that pretty big seashell what else
[23:22] do you have to offer me and she says no
[23:24] no no maybe you don't understand all
[23:26] you're trading me is that crap over
[23:28] there that practical useless crap that
[23:30] could Keep Us Alive in an emergency that
[23:32] garbage for this seashell man buddy
[23:36] right now I can hand it to you all you
[23:38] have to do is sign this legal contract
[23:40] that will tell prove to me that
[23:41] everything you collect for the rest of
[23:43] your life half of it is automatically
[23:45] mine and you have no idea what this
[23:47] woman is smoking she literally thinks
[23:49] this is the best opportunity in the
[23:51] world and everybody else in your village
[23:53] comes by one to one oneon-one to tell
[23:55] you you need to take this deal man have
[23:57] you seen how big that se shell is okay
[24:01] this is exactly what avoidant men hear
[24:04] when the world around them is obsessed
[24:05] with romantic love obsessed with
[24:07] marriage everyone in their life is
[24:09] pressuring them into emotional intimacy
[24:12] and feelings and everybody is demanding
[24:16] half of their stuff in exchange for a
[24:18] bunch of emotional sea shells right this
[24:20] is what avoidant men hear so when you
[24:22] run the numbers right you run the
[24:24] numbers well here's a big fat pink
[24:26] seashell here is the ability to
[24:29] experience a bunch of good feelings and
[24:31] then a bunch of horrible feelings in
[24:32] exchange for everything that's going to
[24:34] keep you safe in this world give me half
[24:36] of everything you will ever make and I
[24:39] will in turn temporarily give you some
[24:40] good feelings that will diminish over
[24:42] time that's what avoidant men hear they
[24:44] don't understand the value of this
[24:46] seashell now in reality what is the sea
[24:48] shell the sea shell is not dopamine what
[24:51] avoid what avoidant men usually get is
[24:53] they're on the cortisol dopamine pathway
[24:55] I am endlessly stressed out in my life I
[24:58] cope with through dopamine your seashell
[25:00] your love for me is dopamine the sex we
[25:02] have is dopamine eating ice cream is
[25:04] dopamine watching porn is dopamine
[25:06] shopping on Amazon is dopamine seeing a
[25:08] pretty woman in public is dopamine
[25:10] playing a video game is dopamine I can
[25:12] get dopamine anywhere they're like pink
[25:13] seashells on a beach why are you
[25:15] offering me something special why do you
[25:17] think that what you're giving me is
[25:18] something special okay in reality the
[25:20] pink sea shell is an oxytocin bond
[25:23] oneon-one with that person that is an
[25:25] Irreplaceable bond between two human
[25:27] beings what they also are offering is
[25:29] serotonin deep level contentment that is
[25:32] really going to bring you ultimate peace
[25:34] in your heart and in your mind what
[25:35] they're also offering is something
[25:37] called vasopress vasopress is a hormone
[25:39] released when you solve cortisol and
[25:41] stress together when you work
[25:43] effectively as a team and the last thing
[25:45] that it brings up is Gaba Gaba gamma
[25:48] gamma Amino Bic acid Gaba is an
[25:50] inhibitory neurotransmitter that shuts
[25:52] down the expressions of cortisol and
[25:54] anticipation of pain in the future so
[25:56] that you are calm you are relaxed you
[25:58] release melatonin so you sleep better at
[26:00] night your mood is elevated your
[26:02] productivity goes up because you're not
[26:04] just driven by spurts of fear you are
[26:07] stronger mentally and more resilient
[26:09] against stress you can be logical you
[26:11] can use the logical left side of your
[26:12] brain more because you're not agitated
[26:15] and stressed out your ability to
[26:17] maintain and sustain at a higher level
[26:20] goes through the roof okay this is what
[26:23] the pink SE shell is meant to represent
[26:25] if you're an avoidant man out there
[26:27] you've never experienced any of this so
[26:29] you are throwing away the world's
[26:31] biggest diamond because you think it's a
[26:32] useless Rock does that track for you
[26:34] mark does that making sense so far yeah
[26:36] it makes a lot of sense and I think when
[26:38] you present it in that way it kind of
[26:40] goes ah ah because of messaging we send
[26:44] men you know in general because you were
[26:46] saying that men have a predisposition to
[26:48] being avoidant um so yeah like keep
[26:52] going it's good keep going okay all
[26:54] right um Mark you have been at times
[26:57] avoidant in your life when people came
[26:59] at you trying to offer emotional
[27:01] intimacy and it was it was a massively
[27:03] high risk for very little potential
[27:05] return what went through your mind when
[27:08] people tried to push that on you I mean
[27:09] you you got your skin would crawl when
[27:11] they'd say I love you but what practical
[27:13] thoughts were in your head what what did
[27:15] you think of those people when they were
[27:16] trying to offer that to you I doubt you
[27:18] judged them but but you know what were
[27:20] your thoughts about these people did
[27:21] they make sense to you no and when I got
[27:23] out of my engagement I immediately
[27:26] started studying marriage because I
[27:28] thought this doesn't make sense like
[27:30] first off I feel like I've been lied to
[27:33] and second because of conscious my my
[27:36] unconscious bias I hadn't been noticing
[27:39] divorces I had only been noticing oh you
[27:42] get married at a certain age and you
[27:44] have kids and you stay together forever
[27:45] that was the story I was taught but then
[27:48] I when I ended my engagement I now had a
[27:50] bias to see discontent and and and a
[27:54] lack of stability in relationship and
[27:56] all these divorces that happened in my
[27:57] friends family I I hadn't really paid
[28:00] much attention to I mean I had but I
[28:01] hadn't and all of a sudden I started to
[28:04] when I got it out of that engagement and
[28:06] people said you're just afraid of
[28:08] commitment and I thought well is it just
[28:11] that like I it feels like it's more than
[28:13] that and you want me to be emotionally
[28:15] intelligent this is what the story that
[28:17] I'm being told like I want men who are
[28:19] emotionally literate I want men who can
[28:21] communicate and then the moment I
[28:23] actually say how I feel I'm told that's
[28:25] not how I feel like that [ __ ] annoyed
[28:27] me you are a coward and you need to cry
[28:29] more yeah that's that's what men are
[28:30] hearing usually when that's the yeah
[28:32] yeah you're toxic that wasn't around yet
[28:34] toxic masculinity but I did grow up in
[28:36] the 90s and and and late 80s where the
[28:40] the main message to men was you're
[28:42] rapist you're murderers you suck you're
[28:44] the reason for all the problems in the
[28:45] world and now I think that's actually I
[28:48] used to think that was going down but
[28:50] then you know I think we've now
[28:52] Amplified that especially since I want
[28:54] to say probably around 2015 somewhere
[28:57] around there the message was like you
[28:59] are actually the reason for all of the
[29:01] world's pains nothing productive has
[29:04] come from you even though we're
[29:05] benefiting from some of those things we
[29:07] can't label them because then you might
[29:09] get toxic again that's my rant no 100%
[29:12] with you man 100% with you you said
[29:14] something great in there which was you
[29:16] you the moment you got out of your
[29:17] engagement you started studying marriage
[29:19] trying to figure out why it doesn't make
[29:20] sense um here's another thing that
[29:22] doesn't make sense and it's tied
[29:23] indirectly with it do you know why so
[29:25] many men in their 20s and 30s are having
[29:27] massive erectile dysfunction I'm gonna
[29:29] guess things like pornography things
[29:31] like that sure uh but what lack of
[29:35] testosterone uh there there a piece of
[29:37] that but let's think about this for a
[29:39] minute okay dopamine dopamine when we
[29:42] get into relationships there's something
[29:43] called novelty dopamine right yeah oh
[29:46] look at that that's new oh look at that
[29:47] that's new look at those are new right
[29:49] we're excited it's fun we're playing new
[29:51] experiences with a new person everything
[29:53] is new new new so it's dopamine driven
[29:55] so we're getting huge bursts of dopamine
[29:57] that wears off by about 5 months in and
[30:01] if avoidant men are primarily driven by
[30:03] cortisol and dopamine and they do not
[30:04] get on the oxytocin bonding pathway then
[30:07] they do not replenish any of that so
[30:09] they're driven by dopamine your dopamine
[30:11] receptors naturally start to burn out
[30:14] based on the levels you're getting
[30:15] you're not getting enough so you need
[30:17] more and more and more it's an
[30:18] escalating thing it's it's it's habit
[30:20] forming is what they call it it's
[30:22] addictive in another term so you have to
[30:24] escalate okay so at five months you
[30:25] start tracking well maybe monogamy isn't
[30:28] for me cuz this isn't as fun as I
[30:30] thought it was supposed to be well you
[30:31] know what she's a nice girl I'm going to
[30:33] try to be nice to her I'll just try to
[30:35] keep it going maybe we'll find something
[30:36] that'll spice things up a little bit
[30:37] more by about seven months in you're
[30:39] starting to kind of feel like man I'm
[30:41] feeling less connected than ever I'm not
[30:43] feeling fun and N of this is fun and I'm
[30:45] actually having a hard time keeping it
[30:46] up guys who are using a lot of
[30:48] pornography have already burned out a
[30:50] lot of their dopamine receptors and
[30:51] they've learned to use women as tools
[30:53] unfortunately instead of as loving
[30:55] Partners so they're even less likely to
[30:56] form oxytocin bonding through
[30:58] conversation through immersion through
[31:00] building together through building a
[31:02] life together through being able to
[31:03] accept each other through being able to
[31:05] snuggle and cuddle and really build that
[31:07] through foreplay foreplay is just as
[31:09] much for men as it is for women to be
[31:10] honest with you we need the oxytocin to
[31:13] drive that that male arousal to to
[31:15] maximum levels it's it's heavy oxytocin
[31:18] is what that is dopamine will only get
[31:20] you so far and only for so long so then
[31:21] men escalate to the point that I I was
[31:24] working with a client not that long ago
[31:26] and he had through the course of his
[31:28] marriage secretly been having multiple
[31:29] Affairs he had one mistress for four
[31:31] years and he had to escalate with her
[31:34] out of control it started off fun
[31:36] because she was new then it was new
[31:38] lingerie then it was new activities then
[31:40] it was watching Adult videos and
[31:41] reenacting them together then it was
[31:43] huge fetish play then it was getting
[31:45] other people involved so now he had
[31:47] multiple partners he gave his wife HPV
[31:49] and that was how she found out that he'd
[31:51] been having multiple Affairs now she had
[31:52] a virus and then he was taking 100
[31:55] milligrams of Viagra and doing
[31:57] overwhelming number of pieces to to
[31:59] connect with his female partner and and
[32:01] the girls she brought into the bedroom
[32:02] to try to entice him and it still wasn't
[32:05] enough and and even with Viagra even
[32:07] with multiple female Partners in the
[32:09] room at the same time with massive level
[32:11] fetish play everything going on he no
[32:13] longer could get or maintain erections
[32:15] the only thing that actually fixed this
[32:16] for him was when he he said I just can't
[32:19] do this anymore my life is pointless I'm
[32:21] chasing pleasure it's endless stress
[32:23] I've destroyed my marriage my kids won't
[32:25] speak to me and I hate everything he was
[32:27] in his mid 50s he said I can't do this
[32:30] anymore so he went back to his wife and
[32:32] said I am so sorry I don't know what I'm
[32:34] doing wrong but something has gone wrong
[32:36] what the hell are we supposed to do now
[32:38] and she said I've been trying to tell
[32:40] you all along that this is not going to
[32:41] work let's actually try working on
[32:43] attachment okay so he came to me and
[32:45] started working with me and it was just
[32:47] a few sessions of teaching him to open
[32:49] up talk with his wife and speak to her
[32:52] the way that he had never spoken to
[32:54] anybody and then just receive receive
[32:57] her listening to him as a human not even
[32:59] like crying on the floor kind of stuff
[33:01] but just tell her who he was tell her
[33:03] how he had experienced things and then
[33:04] her saying well let's manage risk
[33:06] together as a team instead of you doing
[33:07] it alone let's work on things let's
[33:09] collaborate and as he learned that he
[33:11] could actually trust his wife to be a
[33:13] human she finally stopped being angry
[33:15] and resentful because she was getting
[33:16] the connection she'd wanted all along
[33:18] she wanted the oxytocin he started
[33:20] getting it too and sure enough his
[33:22] ability to have arousals came back his
[33:25] erections came back stronger than they
[33:27] had been before with the Viagra and with
[33:29] the fetish play massively strong and I
[33:31] won't go into too much detail but his
[33:33] sex life improved drastically at 55
[33:36] without medication because oxytocin is
[33:39] not habit forming you get a little bit
[33:41] and it is just as good the first hit as
[33:43] it is on the thousandth hit and you just
[33:46] dive deeper into it you start getting
[33:48] more and more and more then you get
[33:49] reliable arousal and then it's fun it's
[33:52] not you doing a solo activity on a woman
[33:55] it is you sharing a moment an experience
[33:58] with a woman that you actually care
[33:59] about and who cares about you and that
[34:01] uh that is the magic of marriage when
[34:03] you have that experience it is bonding
[34:06] and sharing together for the rest of
[34:07] your life that's why being with one
[34:09] woman isn't terrible that's why I have
[34:11] that's why I have five children and I've
[34:13] been married for 15 years and it's only
[34:15] getting better and my buddies are
[34:16] treding to tell me Adam hold off before
[34:18] you have the next one I say I don't know
[34:19] man we'll see and that but that's why
[34:22] it's because the the phenomenal oxytocin
[34:24] bonding between a husband and wife is
[34:26] just it's the greatest AFF GC there is
[34:28] for either side yeah I could see that
[34:31] you know years ago when I experienced
[34:33] erectile dysfunction in I want to say
[34:36] the first time it happened I was about
[34:37] 20 it was after that giant betrayal that
[34:41] I never processed and so then I tried to
[34:43] have a one I stand I couldn't get an
[34:45] erection that didn't make any sense to
[34:47] me because I'd never experienced that
[34:49] before like all the circumstantial
[34:51] environmental things that would normally
[34:53] be associated with an erection were
[34:54] there but I was completely out of
[34:57] alignment with my morality with my own
[34:58] values and years later I I processed
[35:02] that and and really saw like the I wrote
[35:05] an article called the reason the real
[35:07] reason you can't get hard and it was
[35:10] about the violation of our own Integrity
[35:13] this and I I think what's interesting is
[35:16] the correlation as you're saying if you
[35:18] go even further is not being witnessed
[35:22] in my own pain I'd never had anyone walk
[35:24] me through the grief not that that
[35:27] wasn't available I just you know cuz if
[35:29] I had talked to my father about it he
[35:31] would have held that pretty well but I
[35:33] just didn't I was afraid I was ashamed
[35:36] because I've been betrayed yeah so I
[35:38] look back and I'm like wow if if there
[35:41] was a tool or a process for me to be
[35:43] able to one recognize the pain of the
[35:46] violation of my own Integrity that my
[35:48] penis was not failing me it was actually
[35:51] it was actually protecting me and
[35:53] because I hadn't done that deeper work
[35:56] that's this is this is the pain right
[35:57] here of avoidantly attached men is they
[36:01] they don't want to say anything's wrong
[36:02] with them because they're in hardcore
[36:03] survival mode and I'm not even here to
[36:05] say there's anything wrong with them but
[36:06] because they're in hard cord survival
[36:08] mode they don't understand the value of
[36:10] love and real intimacy because it's
[36:11] frightening to them and it seems it
[36:13] seems like it's just one more risk and
[36:15] it's the dumbest gamble in the world it
[36:17] it's buying Bitcoin at you know
[36:20] $75,000 before it goes over the cliff
[36:22] it's like man that ain't going up today
[36:24] don't don't don't put your money into
[36:25] that it's investing in a house that's
[36:27] currently on fire fire and is about to
[36:28] burn to the ground you know the returns
[36:30] are diminishing you can watch the
[36:31] returns diminish as it soaks down into
[36:33] ashes but you're going to invest in it
[36:35] anyway it's the seashell thing all over
[36:37] again and that's the reason they get
[36:39] demonized all over the Internet they're
[36:40] so used to people yelling at them for
[36:42] just being smart and tactical in their
[36:45] eyes so the hardest thing is getting an
[36:48] avoidant mans even believe that there's
[36:49] another way of living and that there's
[36:51] any value to emotional intimacy at all
[36:53] besides the pain that it potentially
[36:55] could bring once they understand that
[36:57] there's even that they're missing
[36:59] something that there's brain chemicals
[37:01] that are involved that there there's
[37:02] fulfillment but the next step is
[37:04] teaching them how to filter people
[37:06] correctly for trust and then there's
[37:09] number of ways to do this I have what I
[37:10] call the the four levels of trust that
[37:13] I've mapped out and the four levels of
[37:15] trust are simply this I'm just going to
[37:16] give it away to you guys to everybody at
[37:18] home if you need this here you go the
[37:20] four levels of trust are is that human
[37:22] being consistent and self- policing with
[37:25] an explicit code of conduct that they
[37:27] that they can can make clear to you you
[37:29] know what their sense of right and wrong
[37:30] is they have a conscience they stick to
[37:32] it especially when they're stressed out
[37:34] and when they get it wrong because we're
[37:35] not perfect they self-correct back and
[37:37] they hold them themselves accountable so
[37:39] you don't have to are they actually
[37:41] willing to do that are they a decent
[37:42] person that's level one that's not even
[37:44] friendship that's not even intimacy
[37:46] that's just will I allow this person in
[37:47] my home because they won't steal my
[37:49] wallet off the table right that's it's
[37:51] basic level consistency in self- beling
[37:53] with an explicit code of conduct that
[37:54] you can track number two is an are they
[37:57] consistent self- policing with a life
[37:59] goal that you can you really respect
[38:01] them for right not they want to get all
[38:03] the money in the world by stealing it
[38:04] from old ladies but you know they want
[38:06] to build a thriving family when they
[38:08] want to build a good business that takes
[38:09] care of people they want to change the
[38:11] world in a positive direction and
[38:12] they're actually taking steps toward it
[38:13] it's not just an ideal it's a goal and
[38:15] they're pursuing it and they're
[38:16] self-correcting back to it and
[38:18] especially during times of stress
[38:19] they're consistent with it these two
[38:21] things create stability and
[38:23] predictability that creates
[38:26] trustworthiness okay at that point if
[38:28] that person is a level two trust that's
[38:30] levels one and level two what avoidant
[38:32] men can do at that point is is
[38:34] differentiate people in their life who
[38:35] are level two who could potentially be
[38:37] level three level three is called Mutual
[38:40] acceptance you go to them and you simply
[38:42] say hey uh I don't open up to other
[38:44] people but I would like to I think
[38:46] you're a person that I can respect and I
[38:48] would like to really connect with you on
[38:50] a deeper level but I've never really
[38:51] done this with anybody if you notice me
[38:53] getting cold and withdrawn from you if
[38:55] you notice me pulling back could you
[38:57] just call me me out on it I don't like
[38:59] it and it's something I do want to fix
[39:00] and I don't want to I want to become a
[39:02] better friend to you is this something
[39:04] you're interested in if so blink twice
[39:07] okay it's done cool and uh what should I
[39:10] know about you as our friendship goes on
[39:11] is there anything that you do
[39:13] differently that you want some
[39:14] accountability on right that's one
[39:15] method of doing this another method is
[39:17] simply to go to them and open up about a
[39:19] challenge you're experiencing and do
[39:20] what I call solution Focus sharing hey
[39:22] you know what um I have a challenge I'm
[39:24] facing right now and you have overcome
[39:26] this challenge this is why I'm bring it
[39:28] to you and I would like your Insight on
[39:30] it or what you would do in my place so I
[39:32] can really pick your brain and get your
[39:33] experience this is the challenge you
[39:35] share selectively about whatever it is
[39:37] and it could be of increasing personal
[39:39] importance to you and the the higher
[39:42] level of of uh personal layers that it
[39:45] is if it's romantic or emotional or
[39:47] internal or something it shows more
[39:48] trust for that person and then you
[39:50] reiterate the ask hey you know what are
[39:52] your thoughts on that what are your
[39:53] what's your Insight for me what have you
[39:54] done in that circumstance what is
[39:56] something you think I could do that
[39:57] would bring benefit to me and you give
[39:59] that to them then they share it with you
[40:00] and you thank them for it then you come
[40:02] back and give them feedback later on how
[40:03] it went this shows respect for them it
[40:06] shows bonding it shows intimacy it shows
[40:08] trust it shows a great number of things
[40:10] and they like it too and then they're
[40:11] likely to reciprocate with you in the
[40:13] future what you've done here is build a
[40:14] level three trust that most avoidant men
[40:17] avoid at all at any opportunity but what
[40:19] you're doing is gaining experience and
[40:21] wisdom and benefiting from your
[40:23] relationships you built a network of
[40:24] trust and intimacy that's level three
[40:26] and it's absolutely m you do that for
[40:28] high quality of life and to sustain your
[40:30] relationships at the top Mark I'm
[40:32] assuming that's something you've done
[40:33] now probably not something you did
[40:35] though back during your avoidant face
[40:37] [ __ ] no I didn't even know to I didn't
[40:39] know it was a lack of trust I thought I
[40:41] was just things were not aligned and and
[40:45] I you know I learned eventually that I
[40:48] wanted to heal that and it wasn't
[40:49] optional like I really did want love and
[40:52] when I learned attachment then I was
[40:54] like oh like this
[40:58] is what do they say this is a feature
[41:00] not a bug like this isn't a deficit of
[41:03] me this is actually a behavior that I
[41:05] have that's divinely created to protect
[41:08] me from experiencing pain and suffering
[41:10] again because I don't have the skill set
[41:13] to walk towards love in a way that I
[41:15] trust myself you know and I look at you
[41:18] know that idea of like we're afraid of
[41:19] commitment when I was told that and I
[41:21] really see I was just I was just afraid
[41:23] of what commitment led to I didn't trust
[41:25] myself in commitment I didn't trust
[41:27] others and all I knew I could do as
[41:29] you're speaking to is one improve my
[41:33] ability to be Discerning and pick good
[41:35] people but also I could only really take
[41:40] care of my side my Lane you know I could
[41:42] hold people accountable to what the
[41:44] standards and needs I had were but I had
[41:46] to live them like that was the big key
[41:49] like when when for the people listening
[41:51] are watching who they're like you know
[41:54] what I do have a partner who's avoidant
[41:57] or I'm I tend to be drawn to unavailable
[42:00] people what are some ways that I can
[42:05] invite them forward without pushing them
[42:07] away if you are somebody with an
[42:09] avoidant partner who wants to pull
[42:10] people in closer and you're listening
[42:12] right now what you need to know is that
[42:14] they are constantly scanning risk and
[42:17] they are likely checking you as a
[42:18] potential risk all the time the best
[42:21] thing you could possibly do is start
[42:22] speaking in the language of risk it may
[42:24] not sound sexy but you need to speak
[42:26] like an insurance
[42:28] or a financial assessor and speak to
[42:30] them about risks help them understand
[42:32] that you are a person who's going to
[42:33] help them track risk and manage risk and
[42:36] that you crave to do that and then help
[42:38] them put you to work in their life so
[42:40] that you can begin bonding with them
[42:42] correctly if you can do that you become
[42:43] a powerful asset to them and that's a
[42:46] GameChanger in your relationship yeah
[42:47] it's such a powerful mechanism to change
[42:51] the the space between you and them like
[42:53] instead of orienting to them which I you
[42:56] spoke to this earlier that
[42:58] the way everyone has oriented to them
[43:00] are almost everyone is you suck you have
[43:05] problems you're not emotionally
[43:07] intelligent uh you're not good at
[43:09] communicating your feelings here's
[43:11] another book here's another thing why
[43:14] don't you want to read that why don't
[43:16] you want to do that like don't you love
[43:18] me can we go to therapy you don't even
[43:20] want to go to therapy what about the
[43:21] level of accountability for the actual
[43:24] person to accept the invitations you
[43:26] know for the avoid important person
[43:28] listening who like yeah like I ran from
[43:30] therapy I do they do suggest books and
[43:32] podcast to me [ __ ] that like how do we
[43:35] begin to reorient our own way that we're
[43:38] approaching relationship that doesn't
[43:40] over you know that's fair that's a great
[43:42] question how much accountability should
[43:44] avoidantly attached person take for
[43:46] their behaviors I think that avoidantly
[43:48] attached people are some of the most
[43:49] sensitive people on the planet I think
[43:51] that most of them are very ethical uh
[43:52] I've divided the attachment Styles up
[43:54] into eight attachment Styles instead of
[43:55] just the four because avoidantly ATT
[43:57] people come in such different flavors
[43:59] most of them are what I call ethically
[44:01] avoidant where they are very sensitive
[44:03] very caring and they do not ever want to
[44:04] hurt anyone it would grieve them to know
[44:06] they had hurt somebody that's a stark
[44:09] difference from what we mostly hear
[44:10] about with avoidantly attached people
[44:12] which is they're all monsters and they
[44:13] don't care and they don't care who they
[44:14] hurt I think that we need to take
[44:16] responsibility for the the hurtful
[44:19] impacts that we might accidentally be
[44:21] brushing up and bruising other people
[44:22] with a lot of avoidant people who have
[44:25] cheated or who've simply walked away or
[44:27] jumped out the window to escape from
[44:29] from a confession of Love um I I think
[44:32] that many of them don't understand the
[44:34] level of hurt that they're creating in
[44:35] the other person through their oxytocin
[44:37] withdrawals that they're giving them
[44:39] through the rejection of Love through
[44:40] throwing the big pink seashell back in
[44:42] that person's face I I think that that
[44:45] is where the responsibility comes if you
[44:47] are going to be in relation with another
[44:49] human being then you must take
[44:51] responsibility for understanding how
[44:52] that person is relating to you because
[44:55] it's likely different avoiding
[44:57] attachments style only covers about 25%
[44:59] of people the other 75% of people
[45:02] experience oxytocin bonding that is a
[45:04] huge difference and avoidantly attached
[45:06] people cannot possibly fathom the depth
[45:09] of pain and personal withdrawals that it
[45:12] creates when that avoidantly attached
[45:14] person pulls away when you pull back
[45:16] when you escape when you take space when
[45:19] you step away when when you deny when
[45:21] you dismiss when you when you simply
[45:24] Escape when you do that with the the
[45:26] level of pain it creates in the other
[45:29] person it's not just cortisol it is an
[45:31] actual withdrawal chemically in the
[45:33] person's brain that creates immense pain
[45:35] and sadness and grief and and all kinds
[45:39] of Agony for that person that that you
[45:41] cannot simply step back in and then give
[45:43] them a bunch of dopamine to compensate
[45:45] you can't pay them off with pleasure
[45:47] later on that doesn't work it really is
[45:49] a deep wounding that's where avoidant
[45:50] people need to take responsibility and
[45:52] again not not because this is
[45:54] intentional they're not monsters they're
[45:55] not narcissists very few of have real
[45:58] narcissistic traits it's that they don't
[46:00] have the comprehension of the pain that
[46:02] is going on and by learning the depth of
[46:05] pain that is going on actually what they
[46:07] can come to understand is that they
[46:09] themselves are only experiencing about
[46:10] 20% of the joy and fulfillment that life
[46:13] really brings they're leaving 80% of
[46:16] opportunities and fulfillment and
[46:18] fruitfulness and pleasure and real
[46:20] happiness and contentment with other
[46:22] people on the table they are losing the
[46:25] best qualities of life to barely scrap
[46:27] by in survival and that when you do that
[46:30] it is simultaneous you learn you learn
[46:32] what you've been accidentally inflicting
[46:34] on others while also learning what you
[46:37] yourself have missed out on and there's
[46:39] deep shame and pain and grief that
[46:41] usually comes with that but the question
[46:43] that should come next is what are you
[46:44] gonna do about it right are you really
[46:46] going to sit there and lose out on all
[46:48] of that for the rest of your life I
[46:49] don't think you have to you can overcome
[46:51] it in a matter of weeks if you wish you
[46:53] can start finding true fulfillment in a
[46:55] very short amount of time provid you
[46:57] have some people in your life who are
[46:59] worthy of trust it just takes a couple
[47:01] skills to open up to them Mark how fast
[47:03] once you learned once you learned how to
[47:05] open up to a human being again how fast
[47:07] did it take you to start really feeling
[47:11] better well you know I have a rule that
[47:13] the moment I learned something I have to
[47:14] change it so I made that rule after I
[47:18] spent years not changing things I knew
[47:20] were unhelpful or unhealthy but the
[47:24] moment I learned that I was unavailable
[47:26] emotionally and also drawn to people who
[47:28] are unavailable emotionally that's when
[47:30] I made a rule like I'm no longer going
[47:31] to date people who can't show up and I'm
[47:34] also going to start showing up it was
[47:36] really actually through my own when I
[47:38] started to build the skills I started to
[47:39] trust myself so it was immediate like
[47:41] the awareness once it was there was an
[47:43] immediate beginning of the journey and
[47:46] then of course you start relating with
[47:47] people and practicing your skills in
[47:50] dating in
[47:51] relationship
[47:53] and you know you start to experience
[47:55] vulnerability and
[47:57] I I am uh I have a question about what
[48:01] about the responsibility because what I
[48:04] see on the anxious side is there's a lot
[48:07] of conversation about I show up to love
[48:10] I fight for love I so there's this
[48:13] self-identity that is often altruistic
[48:16] and righteous and so like where's the
[48:20] work there like what is what can we what
[48:23] wisdom can you impart because of course
[48:25] that's not intentional they not it's not
[48:28] malignant Behavior but I'm curious what
[48:30] is your thoughts on that and like how
[48:32] does someone begin to identify or heal
[48:35] that sort of victimized mindset we're
[48:37] gonna get in real trouble here the
[48:39] biggest hate mobs I've really had come
[48:41] against me in all all my years of being
[48:42] a Creator is when I try to hold
[48:45] anxiously attached people accountable
[48:48] those are the biggest hate mobs you get
[48:49] especially and I hate to say this but
[48:51] especially anxiously attached women if
[48:53] you suggest that anxiously attached
[48:54] women could be part of the problem in
[48:56] their relationships or they could be
[48:58] toxic or hurtful in their behaviors you
[49:00] have people come out of the woodwork to
[49:02] try to put your head on a spike like it
[49:05] they it is is some of the biggest anger
[49:06] you've ever seen in your life and I
[49:09] think a big piece of that is because so
[49:10] many of them have been hurt and so many
[49:12] of them have been victimized by
[49:13] legitimately bad men who are also
[49:15] avoidantly attached what I call
[49:16] manipulatively avoidant the the other
[49:19] flavor the the not good flavor they've
[49:21] been genuinely hurt and they are tired
[49:24] of being hurt and they are angry and
[49:25] they're resentful and they feel that
[49:27] they have done a tremendous amount of
[49:29] good now what I will say is this
[49:31] anxiously attached people are
[49:32] responsible for two things you are
[49:34] responsible for knowing how to regulate
[49:36] yourself this does not mean that nobody
[49:38] else should ever co-regulate with you I
[49:40] think co-regulation is fantastic and
[49:42] mandatory in loving relationships some
[49:44] of my couples come in and the men refuse
[49:46] to co-regulate with the women whatsoever
[49:48] and I don't think that's a functioning
[49:49] relationship co-regulation is important
[49:51] but the amount of co-regulation that you
[49:54] require in a relationship must must must
[49:58] not overwhelm your partner and smother
[50:00] them into the ground if your demands for
[50:03] co-regulation are smothering to your
[50:05] partner that relationship will not work
[50:07] you need to learn to self-regulate just
[50:10] as much number one learn self-regulation
[50:12] of your own anxiety features so that you
[50:14] can then go to your partner in a calmer
[50:16] state of mind and have productive
[50:19] conversations with them and therein lies
[50:20] the second responsibility of the
[50:22] anxiously attached partner if you're
[50:23] going to be in relation with somebody
[50:25] who is more avoidant or has been more
[50:27] avoidant and has lived risk assessment
[50:29] throughout the most of their life
[50:30] logical robotic almost if you want to
[50:32] think of it that way if somebody has
[50:34] been low oxytocin high risk assessment
[50:36] you must learn to speak their language
[50:38] effectively the language of risk
[50:39] assessment the language of of financial
[50:41] adjusting the language of logic the
[50:43] language of problem F problem and
[50:46] solution Focus the language of let's
[50:49] work together as a team in almost a
[50:50] business-like fashion the biggest thing
[50:52] I teach to anxiously attach women if
[50:54] they want to be in relation with
[50:55] avoidant men is to say view your
[50:57] romantic relationship as a business
[51:00] understand that you are co-founding a
[51:01] business together and that you have to
[51:03] operate as co-founders for a legacy that
[51:05] you are co-creating especially if you
[51:07] want to build a marriage start operating
[51:09] as the chief operations officer and he
[51:11] can be the CEO go to him bring
[51:14] challenges to him clarify Vision with
[51:16] him work with him on resolving conflicts
[51:18] he will understand business like nothing
[51:20] else on the planet when I have couples
[51:22] come in and I say all right man you are
[51:24] avoidant and he says well whatever and I
[51:26] say you need to build your marriage as
[51:28] if you are building a business he goes
[51:30] and he perks up and he listens and I say
[51:32] now if you as CEO had a COO come in and
[51:36] your coo was exhausted she was run down
[51:40] she was tired and she was begging you
[51:42] for some assistance that would bring her
[51:44] Department tremendous productivity and
[51:46] she her her your whole company would
[51:48] Thrive together and it would cost you
[51:50] perhaps 15 minutes a day maybe four days
[51:53] a week do you think that that if you did
[51:55] that and productivity would spike by
[51:57] 75% and you yourself would achieve even
[52:00] more gains and you yourself would be
[52:02] more productive because of her
[52:03] Department improving do you think that
[52:04] would be a Smart Financial investment
[52:06] with your company yeah absolutely okay
[52:08] let me introduce this concept of
[52:10] emotional caregiving to you and
[52:12] co-regulating let's talk about how
[52:14] important it is you sit with her 15
[52:16] minutes a day minimum and talk with her
[52:18] and Converse with her about things that
[52:20] matter to her and express curiosity to
[52:22] her and help her to feel loved he goes
[52:24] man I can do that and then let's talk
[52:26] about the benefit benefits of what's
[52:27] going to happen if you are giving her
[52:29] emotional intimacy and the female
[52:31] partner is sitting there like looking at
[52:32] me like I'm crazy but he's eating it up
[52:35] and he can't get enough of it and all of
[52:36] a sudden in one session I have got this
[52:39] guy that they've been married 15 years
[52:41] one session I have got him all in on
[52:44] emotional investment emotional intimacy
[52:47] talking about feelings talking about the
[52:49] relationship holding her hand going on
[52:52] dates all of a sudden he sees the
[52:54] massive benefits of it because we have
[52:57] switched from her emotional language of
[52:59] I need to feel loved well why so that I
[53:01] can feel loved we've switched from that
[53:04] to this is how we're going to make your
[53:06] business run at a maximum level
[53:08] efficiency with 15 minutes a day and
[53:12] that's the language let's do it yeah
[53:13] exactly that's the that's the language
[53:15] that's the second piece that an anxious
[53:17] person must do you must self-regulate
[53:20] you must learn to speak his language
[53:22] those are the two things you're
[53:23] responsible for he he ladies out there
[53:26] listening to this right now who are
[53:27] saying well what's his responsibility if
[53:29] I give him this his
[53:30] responsibility is to be able to lean
[53:33] into honest conversations with you
[53:35] without jumping out the window to escape
[53:37] he is responsible for not dismissing you
[53:39] he must understand that your feelings
[53:41] are important sensors on the health of
[53:43] the business you are running together
[53:45] your feelings are designed to really
[53:48] calibrate around the health of the
[53:49] relationship and he needs to attend to
[53:51] those feelings without dismissing them
[53:53] before a fire erupts that's why a woman
[53:56] has those sensitiv ities and those
[53:57] understandings to to bring that data for
[53:59] the health of the relationship he is
[54:01] also responsible for being honest with
[54:04] you and really listening to you and
[54:07] speaking the truth to you he must show
[54:09] up with the truth in that relationship
[54:11] listening to you attending to you taking
[54:14] you seriously respecting you and then
[54:16] meeting your needs as you guys have
[54:18] agreed upon that sticking to agreements
[54:21] those are his responsibilities and to do
[54:23] that he needs to fix his avoidance and
[54:24] not be as avoidant he needs to be ble to
[54:27] connect with you securely does that mean
[54:28] he has to turn off his logical brain and
[54:30] become purely hippie dippy feelings
[54:33] crying hugging no absolutely not he
[54:35] probably never will but he needs to
[54:38] become nonavoidant where he is leaning
[54:40] into the confrontations with you mark
[54:43] have you become that in your life are
[54:44] you ready for love and intimacy oh man
[54:47] yeah I mean I my wife and I have that
[54:49] connection and it's fantastic you know
[54:52] lots of communication what's the biggest
[54:54] difference for you in a in a securely
[54:56] established relationship where you have
[54:58] previously been an avoidant man what's
[54:59] the biggest difference your wife does
[55:02] for you that you can receive that that
[55:04] also speaks to you what's the language
[55:06] she speaks well she's really good at
[55:08] co-regulating like she's really good at
[55:10] holding space asking questions I'd say
[55:13] the thing that brought me created the
[55:15] most openness for me was that she takes
[55:18] responsibility for her own behavior and
[55:21] if I bring something that is a concern
[55:24] for me or a challenge for me or
[55:26] something I'm observing deserving I'd
[55:27] say 99% of the time because she's human
[55:31] uh and I'm probably less than that but
[55:33] 99.9% of the time she is like yeah
[55:37] there's truth to what you're saying and
[55:39] that for me that's a level one trust
[55:41] yeah level one trust level two trust and
[55:43] a level three trust because at level
[55:44] three you have mutual baggage but you
[55:46] also have mutual ownership of your
[55:47] challenges she's reestablishing all
[55:49] three trust levels every single time
[55:51] which just deepens that trust for her
[55:53] that's phenomenal so good she's I mean I
[55:56] would say between the two of us she is
[55:57] the one who's quicker to repair not that
[56:00] I'm not I just take a little longer uh
[56:04] but she is quicker to repair and she
[56:07] also is like yeah so I think between the
[56:09] two of us there's such a dedication to
[56:12] creating something together that neither
[56:14] of us are going anywhere you know and I
[56:16] didn't realize the value of that I
[56:18] remember hearing and I say this quote
[56:20] all the time on the podcast but it's one
[56:22] of my favorite quotes from Jordan
[56:23] Peterson where he said commitment only
[56:26] works when you do it and for me that's
[56:29] been a really just like okay well if if
[56:32] working through this is the only
[56:35] option just in that context then what is
[56:38] possible for us like what happens if we
[56:40] actually use friction to change to grow
[56:43] to love one another to create something
[56:45] different even you know having a child I
[56:46] only have one uh but I look forward to
[56:49] making one more
[56:52] um has been so informing of our
[56:56] connection of what's possible again
[56:57] changing our relationship Dynamics in
[57:00] challenging ways but ways that have
[57:03] broadened us as a couple which I know
[57:06] for a lot of people if you don't have
[57:08] the established trust and skill set
[57:10] what's not resolved will become
[57:12] magnified but there's nothing
[57:14] insurmountable I think you know what do
[57:16] you think absolutely um I think that
[57:20] learning what's
[57:22] possible building the practical skills
[57:25] necessary to achieve what's possible and
[57:28] having a partner who is willing to fully
[57:30] collaborate with you in trust and good
[57:32] faith those are the three components
[57:34] needed for a healthy relationship and I
[57:36] think that both people need to reach
[57:38] that level before they can really do
[57:39] that uh for any men out there who are
[57:41] listening to this thinking about this
[57:43] and tracking it I unfortunately the
[57:45] problem with avoidantly attached men and
[57:47] you you alluded to this earlier is that
[57:48] they think a lot they think a lot they
[57:51] listen to a lot of podcasts they listen
[57:52] to 500 episodes and then they read 500
[57:55] books and then they think and think and
[57:57] think and think and think and think and
[57:59] they don't do because they're so focused
[58:02] on the risk that they want to get it
[58:04] perfect they have to get it perfect the
[58:07] first time or it's going to be a
[58:08] disaster and it's so scary and they wait
[58:12] 10 years and I will say this there's
[58:14] there's too many men too many men come
[58:17] to me and their children are teens or
[58:19] their children are grown and they say
[58:23] Adam I wish I had done this when I was
[58:26] 25 I wish I had done this when I was 30
[58:28] I wish I had fixed this when my kids
[58:29] were little I wish I had fixed this when
[58:31] I had time to really really spend that
[58:34] time with them because right now I'm
[58:35] watching my daughter with a with a bad
[58:37] abusive boyfriend and she won't listen
[58:39] to me right now I'm watching my son and
[58:41] he's he's so broken he won't date
[58:43] anybody for for marriage he just thinks
[58:45] that marriage is a joke I'm on my I'm on
[58:48] my you know I'm on my third marriage and
[58:49] my son is just completely turned out of
[58:52] marriage and I wish I had done this when
[58:54] my kids were were little um do it as
[58:56] soon as you humanly can fix you fix your
[59:01] relationships at the end of the day on
[59:04] your headstone you know they don't put
[59:06] like this man had all the money right
[59:08] they don't put your bank account balance
[59:09] on your headstone they don't put your
[59:11] bank account balance there they they
[59:13] don't put the number of businesses you
[59:15] built what do we put there well it's
[59:17] first of all it's not even you that gets
[59:18] to really decide what's on what's on
[59:20] your headstone not really it's human
[59:22] beings who are around you who really
[59:24] decide what to put on your headstone
[59:26] it's whoever you leave your estate to
[59:28] they decide and they're going to Define
[59:29] you by the relationship you shared with
[59:31] them right I saw this horrible horrible
[59:34] Memorial plaque the other day that said
[59:37] uh you know it was like Ry Ray something
[59:39] or other and it was like husband father
[59:42] adulterer and under that it said like
[59:45] yes that Ry that's right I knew like and
[59:47] that's what his wife put on his
[59:49] headstone like that's you know your your
[59:51] legacy is going to be the Human
[59:53] Relationships that you built along the
[59:55] way and and if you don't have proper
[59:58] relationships and you can't form them
[59:59] you will not have a legacy that you're
[1:00:01] going to like you're going to be haunted
[1:00:04] by all of your life you're going to be
[1:00:06] haunted by the Legacy you're about to
[1:00:07] leave one of the saddest things in the
[1:00:09] world is when my 78-year-old clients
[1:00:11] come into me and say Adam I'm too old to
[1:00:13] have children at this point most likely
[1:00:16] uh what is left for me or my children
[1:00:18] won't speak to me and I don't even know
[1:00:20] my grandchildren what is left for me do
[1:00:22] we help them rebuild absolutely can they
[1:00:24] build can they build lives that are
[1:00:26] actually fulfilling oh yeah can we
[1:00:28] repair most family bonds yeah to be
[1:00:30] honest with you most can be rebuilt but
[1:00:32] it's one of the saddest things in the
[1:00:33] world when you're in your late 70ies and
[1:00:34] you say I can't let myself die like this
[1:00:38] because of all the destruction that is
[1:00:39] going to just Ripple through my family
[1:00:41] after I'm gone I can't let it end this
[1:00:44] way guys out there if you're 50 you're
[1:00:46] 40 you're 30 if you're sitting there
[1:00:48] thinking I got time I can read I can
[1:00:50] read 500 more
[1:00:52] books imagine yourself at 78 saying I
[1:00:55] can't let it end this way
[1:00:56] because you didn't take action take some
[1:00:58] action and ladies out there right now
[1:01:01] don't let yourself like so many of the
[1:01:03] women who contact me and say you know
[1:01:04] it's been eight years and we haven't
[1:01:06] talked about marriage or a relationship
[1:01:07] do you think he's ever going to propose
[1:01:09] don't do that like really really learn
[1:01:12] how to speak his language and then push
[1:01:14] on him to have the proper relationship
[1:01:17] with you that's what you need to do or
[1:01:19] get out and find a man who will learn to
[1:01:21] speak his language that's the thing you
[1:01:23] need to do if every man and every woman
[1:01:25] on the planet speaks the same language
[1:01:26] then we can finally get somewhere Amen
[1:01:28] to that well Adam this is people are
[1:01:32] like I got some to-dos to- do oh yeah um
[1:01:35] I'm curious for the people listening
[1:01:37] first off thanks so much for coming on
[1:01:38] and sharing your Brilliance and you're
[1:01:41] just like it's very system systematic
[1:01:44] it's not personal and I like that like
[1:01:46] you you make it so it's it's um it's
[1:01:49] easy to understand and there's also like
[1:01:52] here's what you actually do instead of
[1:01:54] doing the same thing here's actually the
[1:01:55] steps take to move through that and I
[1:01:58] believe that you have a program for
[1:01:59] avoidance is that correct yeah so I got
[1:02:01] so tired of seeing hundreds and even
[1:02:04] thousands of women and coming into my
[1:02:05] comment sections and saying Adam I my
[1:02:07] avoidant man just broke up with me I
[1:02:09] know we could have fixed it but I didn't
[1:02:10] know how to communicate with him or
[1:02:12] avoidant men coming in saying Adam I
[1:02:14] wish I had known what my girlfriend was
[1:02:15] trying to offer me before I broke off
[1:02:17] our engagement and jumped out the window
[1:02:19] I got so tired of seeing that because it
[1:02:20] breaks my heart it does I love love and
[1:02:23] I love seeing people win in love and it
[1:02:25] it devastates me I see people not
[1:02:27] winning in love so I took all my 15
[1:02:30] years of training and experience in the
[1:02:31] field of psychology my years as a
[1:02:32] licensed marriage or family therapist my
[1:02:34] clinical experience now my work as the
[1:02:36] attachment specialist coaching people
[1:02:37] all over the world I took that and I
[1:02:38] built a system called How to Love An
[1:02:41] avoidant man and it is a system any
[1:02:43] woman on the planet can pick up and go
[1:02:45] through and understand how to speak an
[1:02:47] avoidant man's language how to get him
[1:02:49] to take you seriously how to get him to
[1:02:51] want to meet your needs like we talked
[1:02:53] about here on this podcast today and how
[1:02:55] to build a fulfilling long-term
[1:02:57] sustainable marriage for the rest of
[1:02:59] your life that he will love to be in
[1:03:01] with you and I secretly I built that
[1:03:03] course and it's it's marketed for women
[1:03:05] yes with with an avoidant man you know
[1:03:07] what I did and I I tricked people a
[1:03:09] little bit here Mark is it's it's really
[1:03:11] for avoidant men the course is really
[1:03:13] for avoidant men but if you tell them
[1:03:15] something's wrong with you and I'm gonna
[1:03:17] Fix You n it's not GNA fly right they'll
[1:03:19] kick they they'll kick down the door to
[1:03:20] escape from you but if you say I'm gonna
[1:03:23] show you how to make women love you
[1:03:25] better they're they're going to line up
[1:03:27] out the door to get this system so when
[1:03:30] I filmed the course I had two avoidant
[1:03:32] men sitting off camera staring at me on
[1:03:33] the production crew and they were
[1:03:35] sitting there on their phones kind of
[1:03:36] ignoring me between takes and sure
[1:03:39] enough as we went through the program
[1:03:41] they started listening they put their
[1:03:42] phones down they were really like tuned
[1:03:43] in they were they were absorbed I had to
[1:03:45] stop one of the episodes at one point
[1:03:46] that I was recording to talk and to
[1:03:48] answer one guy's questions and and and
[1:03:51] answer what he was like the revelations
[1:03:52] that were blowing his mind that he had
[1:03:54] missed in his relationships and at the
[1:03:56] end into the production I had to sit and
[1:03:58] talk with this guy and counsel him and
[1:04:00] but because of his relationships and the
[1:04:02] love he had let slip by and he said I
[1:04:04] gotta I gotta go call this girl that
[1:04:06] I've been talking to in this
[1:04:07] situationship for I got to go call this
[1:04:09] girl and he left to go call her to build
[1:04:11] a relationship with her so it I know
[1:04:14] this course works for avoidant men who
[1:04:16] have never felt loved and need to know
[1:04:18] exactly how to articulate what they're
[1:04:19] looking for all the love and fulfillment
[1:04:22] they've left on the table and didn't
[1:04:23] know was there I built the course
[1:04:25] secretly for you but it is also very
[1:04:27] much for women who are in these
[1:04:28] relationships and if you're a couple of
[1:04:30] a woman who's anxious and a man who's
[1:04:32] avoidant and you want to build the
[1:04:33] ultimate love this program will show you
[1:04:35] exactly how to do that that's amazing
