About This Event

Description

Imagine stepping away from the rhythms of ordinary life to walk the same paths where yoga, kirtan, and meditation were born—guided by teachers who live these practices with integrity. The India Pilgrimage 2027 is a thirteen-day spiritual retreat that invites you into the contemplative heartland of India, from the sacred banks of the Ganges to the temple towns of Vrindavan. Led by experienced guides Vira Tansey and Dhyana Masla, this winter pilgrimage (January 17–29, 2027) is designed for sincere seekers—whether you're visiting India for the first time or returning to deepen your practice.

This is not tourism dressed as spirituality. You'll stay in eco-friendly accommodations, eat organic vegetarian meals prepared with intention, and engage directly with living teachers including renowned spiritual master Radhanath Swami. The journey moves intentionally through four sacred locations—Govardhan Ecovillage, Mumbai, Rishikesh, and Vrindavan—weaving together daily yoga and meditation, teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, and the devotional practice of kirtan. You'll hike the Himalayan foothills, visit temples steeped in history, and experience the vibrant Mumbai Flower Festival. Throughout, the underlying intention remains constant: to create the conditions for genuine internal transformation by stepping into India's authentic spiritual traditions with an open heart and inquiring mind.

What to Expect

This pilgrimage balances structure with spontaneity. Each morning begins with yoga and meditation in natural settings. You'll receive teachings from the Bhagavad Gita woven throughout the journey, participate in kirtan sessions that open the heart, and have opportunities to study with contemporary spiritual teachers living these traditions. The retreat honors both first-time visitors and experienced practitioners, meeting each person where they are spiritually.

Expect mornings in natural beauty—hiking sacred trails, bathing in the Ganges, visiting temples—and evenings of deeper practice, kirtan, and community. Meals are grounded in lived principles of sustainability, sourced from organic farms. The pace allows for genuine contemplation without overwhelming the nervous system. You'll leave with new friendships, a direct experience of India's spiritual landscape, and practices you can integrate into your daily life.

Common Questions

FAQs

The Bhakti Center hosts both styles, but India Pilgrimage events typically blend participatory kirtan with live performance—expect audience involvement in chanting rather than a passive listening experience. You'll be singing Sanskrit mantras alongside the artist, so come prepared to engage vocally, not just listen.
The Bhakti Center is a dedicated devotional space with an altar and spiritual framework built into the room itself; this isn't amplified pop music but rather sacred chanting meant as a spiritual practice. The acoustic and intentional setup supports mantra repetition and meditation rather than spectacle.
No prior knowledge required—the artist will lead you through the Sanskrit pronunciations and melodies in real time. However, this is explicitly a devotional/bhakti event, not entertainment; if you're uncomfortable with Hindu spiritual practice or mantra-based worship, this may not suit you.
Bhakti Center events usually begin precisely on time with no grace period; arrive 10–15 minutes early for grounding and to claim a seat. Most India Pilgrimage sessions run 60–90 minutes depending on the artist's tradition and the depth of the session.
