Creative Workshop
Description
Some words arrive only when the body has slowed down and the mind has grown quiet. Finding Your Voice: Yoga & Creative Writing Retreat at Yogaville is a creative workshop for anyone who senses there is something waiting to be written, and who suspects that movement, breath and stillness might be the way to reach it.
Led by yoga teacher Charles MacInerney, this in-person retreat takes place at Satchidananda Ashram – Yogaville in Buckingham, VA. The ashram is a spiritual sanctuary in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, dedicated to peace and Integral Yoga. For a Friday in spring, it offers a setting where the usual pull of schedules and screens can loosen, and where yoga and writing can meet.
If you have been looking for a creative workshop that treats the body and the page as partners, this retreat speaks to you. Whether you write regularly or have not picked up a pen in years, it invites you to listen inward and let your own voice have room.
What to Expect
The retreat brings together two practices: yoga and creative writing. The source material does not publish a detailed schedule, so the specifics of each session are best confirmed with the organizer. What the setting and the teacher suggest is an experience that moves between practice and expression.
- Yoga led by Charles MacInerney, a teacher with decades of practice and teaching behind him
- Creative writing time for finding and shaping your own voice
- A quiet, supportive environment at Yogaville, a place devoted to Integral Yoga and contemplative living
Participants can expect to leave with a deeper connection to their own creative impulse and a practice they can carry home.
About Charles MacInerney
Charles MacInerney holds the highest level of recognition from both the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500) and the International Association of Yoga Therapists, where he has a 1000-hour Yoga Therapy Certification. He inherited his mother's interest in Eastern philosophy and his father's love of physics. As a teenager he felt pulled between the two, but the more he studied science, read Eastern philosophy, and practiced yoga and meditation on his own, the more he saw how each enriched the other.
Over 45 years of personal practice and 30 years of teaching, Charles has integrated these two influences, bringing together the ancient traditions of the East and modern innovations.
