Yoga Retreat
Description
This six-night yoga retreat in Vrena, Södermanland, Sweden, is a week of breathwork, meditation and gentle movement beside Lake Hallbosjön, just outside Nyköping. It is open to practitioners of all levels and led by Kacy Harnedy, a yoga and breathwork teacher whose work is rooted in pranayama and meditation. If you are looking for a quiet, well-fed week in the Swedish countryside, with time to slow down and practise, this is built for that.
What to Expect
Days begin with pranayama and asana. Evenings turn toward yin or restorative yoga, with some yoga nidra woven in. Kacy teaches classes in asana, meditation and pranayama twice daily, and there are additional meditation sessions through the week. These practices are the root of the retreat, and the pace leaves room for rest between them.
Beyond the classes, the week is deliberately open. There is a hike and wander through a nearby reserve, other activity options, and an on-site sauna for tired muscles. Group excursions will be planned, some at additional cost. In the evenings the night skies are dark enough to be worth a cup of tea outdoors. Private sessions with Kacy are available on request.
About Kacy Harnedy
Kacy Harnedy is a world-traveling yoga teacher who leads wellness and healing retreats around the globe. She teaches under the name Kacy's Sacred Space, which she created as a safe, welcoming place for people to reconnect to Self and move along a path of healing and empowerment. Her specialty is pranayama and meditation, with a focus on building emotional awareness.
She encourages personal empowerment and the strength to embrace emotional processing, and she aims to bring yoga and plant medicine into every part of life, which she calls the true essence of Ahimsa. A deep connection to nature led her into herbalism, and she now combines yogic tradition with plant medicine.
The Setting
The retreat centre sits among forests on the shore of Lake Hallbosjön. It is part of a working farm with vegetable gardens, beekeeping, colourful flower meadows and on-site biochar production and biological water treatment. At its heart stands the Eco Barn, a hundred-year-old barn renovated with sustainable, natural materials.
The yoga studio is bright and airy, with wooden floors and a floor-to-ceiling window facing the lake. Meals are served in a glass conservatory dining room with views over the water. A private chef prepares two meals a day, all vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free.
To arrive, take the Arlanda Express from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Stockholm, then a train of about an hour to Nyköping. From there, a taxi to the centre takes about 15 minutes, and Kacy can help arrange it. You can also rent a car at the airport for more freedom to explore.
Before You Go
All levels are welcome. The emphasis is on breath, meditation and personal inquiry rather than athletic ability.
