Description
The Practice of Feeling is an evening of breathwork and live sound at Werklab in Vancouver, British Columbia. Led by breathwork facilitator Carolyn Anne Budgell with musician Kelbey, it is a ninety-minute workshop for anyone who wants to slow down in the fullness of the season, turn inward, and make room for what needs to be felt, released or restored. People come as they are, with whatever they are carrying, and share the room with a like-minded community.
What to Expect
The evening runs from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and begins with a gentle arrival and settling. The core of the session is conscious connected breathwork, an active meditation practice that uses a continuous, circular breathing pattern to support entry into an expanded, non-ordinary state of awareness. Practiced this way, breathwork can help you shift out of habitual patterns, meet limiting beliefs with greater clarity, and move or release stored emotion. The practice is guided and held with care and support throughout, and options are offered to suit your level of experience.
Alongside the breathwork, the evening includes heart-centered meditations and reflective writing prompts. Kelbey weaves sound activation through the session with his musical gifts, so the music moves with the breath rather than sitting apart from it. The close of the evening leaves time for grounding, rest and writing, so you can settle before heading back out into the night.
About Carolyn Anne Budgell
Carolyn is a meditation and mindfulness teacher, breathwork facilitator, retreat leader and coach. She works with individuals, teachers and organizations through practices that build resilience, presence and nervous system awareness. Her motto is "Practicing for life": she believes life itself is the practice, not how many hours you can sit quietly on a cushion.
She came to meditation by accident, on a yoga retreat with Clara Roberts-Oss, expecting to giggle through backbends. Instead she found the quiet sitting challenging and emotionally uncomfortable, and sensed there was wisdom in that discomfort. She left home at sixteen and later made her way to Whistler, British Columbia, where she immersed herself in yoga and completed her first 200-hour teacher training in 2008.
About Kelbey
Kelbey provides the sound for the evening, shaping the live sound activation that moves through the breathwork and meditations.
