Description
Deep Rest: Yoga Nidra Live from Sedona is a three-week series of Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), a guided yoga nidra practice done lying down. It is for anyone who wants to slow down, rest deeply and reset, whether or not they have practiced yoga or meditation before. Trish Hart leads the sessions live from Sedona, Arizona, so you can take part from wherever you are.
What to Expect
The series meets on three occasions, one session a month over three consecutive months. Each is a live yoga nidra practice built around the simple invitation to lie down, get cozy and let yourself rest. There is nothing to perform and nothing to master. The practice is rest itself, guided by a teacher who works with stress, mindfulness and the body's capacity to settle.
Because the sessions are held online, you arrange your own space. Bring a pillow and a blanket, find a spot where you can lie comfortably, and settle in as you would for a quiet evening at home.
About Trish Hart
Trish Hart is the founder of Hart Mind Body, working between Boston and Sedona. She is a therapeutic yoga instructor, stress management and mindfulness educator, sound therapist and nature-infused retreat leader. She is also Senior Program Manager of the Thich Nhat Center for Mindfulness in Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Her path began in business and healthcare. She worked in auditing and consulting at Deloitte, and in administration and finance at Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital. In 2012 a marathon injury left her choosing between surgery and an integrative mind body program. She chose the program, and it changed her career. She went on to study at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, where she is a certified facilitator of Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART).
Her wider offerings include retreats that combine hiking, mindfulness and yoga, as well as weekly meditation and sound gatherings, all shaped by the same aim: gathering in presence, practice and the art of true rest.
Before You Go
Wear something comfortable and warm, and have a pillow and a blanket within reach. No prior experience with yoga nidra or NSDR is described as necessary, and the practice is done lying down, so it asks very little of the body. Choose a quiet corner where you will not be disturbed for the length of the session.
