Wellness Retreat
Description
The Sedona Desert Bloom Retreat is a wellness retreat in Sedona, Arizona, built around hiking, mindfulness, yoga, wolves and Native American traditions. It is for people who want to step away from the noise and spend time outdoors in the red rock country, moving gently, resting well and paying attention. It is led by Trish Hart, a therapeutic yoga instructor and nature-infused retreat leader who works between Boston and Sedona.
The retreat runs five days, and the most recent group sold out. A waitlist is open for the next year.
What to Expect
The retreat brings together several threads in one stay: hiking in the Sedona landscape, mindfulness practice, yoga, time with wolves, and learning about Native American traditions. The organizer describes the wider offering as a chance to embrace deep rest, mindful movement and holistic renewal, and to reset, recharge and realign with yourself.
Trish also leads other nature and wellness retreats that combine hiking with yoga, sound therapy and tea, so the pacing tends toward unhurried time outside rather than a packed itinerary. The material does not give a day-by-day schedule or session times, so the exact order of each day is best confirmed with the organizer.
About Trish Hart
Trish Hart is the founder of Hart Mind Body and works between Boston and Sedona. She is a therapeutic yoga instructor, stress management and mindfulness educator, sound therapist and nature-infused retreat leader. She is also Senior Program Manager of the Thich Nhat Center for Mindfulness in Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Her path began in business and healthcare, with work in auditing and consulting at Deloitte and in administration and finance at Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital. In 2012 a marathon injury left her choosing between surgery and an integrative mind body program. She chose the program, and it changed her career. She went on to study at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, where she is a certified facilitator of Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART).
Trish also teaches Deep Rest, a live yoga nidra series from Sedona that offers Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) for people lying down at home with a pillow and blanket.
The Setting
The retreat takes place in Sedona, Arizona, a desert landscape well suited to walking, quiet and time outdoors. The material does not name a lodging venue, meals or travel arrangements, so those details are worth asking about when you join the waitlist.
Before You Go
The retreat has been small-group in spirit, and Trish's other retreats limit their numbers, in some cases to between 10 and 18 people. Because the program includes hiking, expect to spend meaningful time on your feet outdoors. Specific experience requirements, packing lists and accessibility details are not stated, so ask the organizer if you have questions about fitness or mobility.
Demand is high: the most recent Sedona Desert Bloom Retreat sold out, and interested guests can join the waitlist for the following year.
