How Beliefs Shape Biology: Lessons from a Stem Cell Lab

Mark Groves

Bruce Lipton, a cell biologist who once taught medical students the conventional account of how genes control life, argues that perception, not genetic fate, is the primary force steering biology, and that most of what we do each day runs on subconscious programs downloaded in childhood. In a long conversation on the Mark Groves Podcast, recorded in 2022, Lipton traces this idea back to a stem cell experiment that unsettled his own training, and he describes how the environment a cell lives in can change how that cell behaves even when its genes are identical. From there the talk widens into relationships, the way we copy our parents' behavior without noticing, and the claim that roughly 95 percent of our lives are driven by material we cannot see. What follows is a guide to the core ideas, why they matter, and where the conversation leaves a listener who wants to act on them.

Where does a belief about biology begin?

The episode opens with a host who has wanted this conversation for a long time. Mark Groves, who came to the work from a science background, greets his guest with obvious reverence, describing a "dream come true" and a sense that the conversation was pulling him toward a deeper calling. That tone sets up what the talk is really about: the idea that the stories we inherit, about our bodies and about ourselves, can quietly govern what we experience.

Lipton's own origin story is the hinge of the whole discussion. He recalls that roughly 50 years earlier, only a handful of researchers in the world even knew what a stem cell was. He was cloning them in his lab, which meant placing a single stem cell in a dish and watching it divide roughly every 10 to 12 hours: one, then two, then four, then eight. After a week, he said, one parent cell had become around 30,000 genetically identical cells. That is the kind of ordinary laboratory fact that carries extraordinary weight once you start asking what it means.

Meanwhile, Lipton was also teaching the standard medical account of heredity. The genes you received, he explained, were ones you did not choose, and the genes switch on and off on their own. Put those points together, he said, and the conclusion is that we are, in his words, "victims of our heredity." Doctors, trained on that story, treat patients as victims of their family histories. Lipton saw a contradiction between what he was teaching and what his cloned cells were doing.

Why do the numbers in the body matter so much?

Lipton uses numbers the way a good bandleader uses tempo: to keep the listener locked in. A human body contains about 50 trillion cells. He describes the arithmetic of counting them one at a time, which he puts at roughly 1,650,000 years. The point is not the sum itself but the churn beneath it. Every day, a large number of the body's cells die off through normal attrition, from skin cells flaking away to cells lining the digestive tract. Millions of cells are replaced every few days.

That churn raises an obvious question, which Lipton poses directly: if you are losing hundreds of billions of cells a day, how are you still alive? His answer is that the body keeps a reserve of stem cells, which are embryonic-type cells present in adult tissue, whose job is to make replacements as losses occur. Without them, he argues, lifespan would be very short. The bodily fact is uncontroversial. What Lipton does with it is the more interesting move, because it sets up the question that drove the rest of his work: if the body is constantly rebuilding itself, what is directing the rebuilding?

What did the three petri dishes actually show?

The experiment that changed Lipton's thinking is the centerpiece of the conversation. He split a population of about 10,000 genetically identical cells into separate dishes, and he grew each batch in a different culture medium, the nutrient environment in which cells live in the lab. He had made three chemically different versions of that medium. Because the cells shared the same genetic blueprint, any difference in their behavior could not be traced to their genes alone. The environment, the chemical surroundings, was the variable.

Lipton's conclusion from this setup is provocative and he states it plainly: "a human is a skin covered petri dish." In his framing, the body is an environment-responsive system, and the cells inside it respond to the signals around them. This is where the talk meets the idea that gives it its title. The signals a cell receives are not only chemical in the lab. In a person, Lipton argues, the signals that matter include the way we perceive and interpret our lives.

"A human is a skin covered petri dish." — Bruce Lipton, on the Mark Groves Podcast (around 11:47)

Within the episode, Lipton pushes this from the cell to the person. He describes epigenetics, the field that studies how gene activity responds to conditions without changing the underlying DNA sequence, as the idea that how you see life is how your biology will respond. If perception is the mechanism that tells the body how to behave, then changing perception becomes a biological question, not merely a psychological one.

Are we really victims of our genes?

Lipton's challenge to genetic determinism is the part of the talk most likely to provoke a response, and he delivers it without hedging. He is not denying that genes exist or that they matter. His target is the story in which genes act as blueprints that run themselves while we sit passively as their hosts. The culture medium experiment suggests that the environment helps determine which parts of the genetic toolkit get used, and so the cell is an active interpreter rather than a puppet.

For Lipton, this is more than a laboratory footnote. It reframes the medical question. If doctors believe their patients are simply inheriting destiny, they will tend to treat disease as something that happens to people. If the body responds to its environment, including the environment of belief, then the question becomes what conditions that body is living inside. The talk returns repeatedly to the idea that our understanding of biology shapes how we are cared for and how we care for ourselves.

How much of daily life runs on programs we cannot see?

The second major claim is about the mind. Lipton argues that roughly 95 percent of what we do operates from subconscious programs, and that these programs were largely installed in childhood. The word "subconscious" is doing real work for him: it names everything below the threshold of conscious awareness, which means we rarely see the programs running. When we act, he suggests, we are often executing scripts we never chose.

Lipton's clearest example is personal. He describes a long stretch of life, more than 40 years by his account, in which he did not believe in love. "I never believed in love because my experience with it was always failing," he told the host, and he assumed that love worked in books and movies but not in ordinary life. Then his research led him to a discovery about his own relationship patterns. He realized that the way he approached a relationship had been programmed by observing his mother and father, and that the household he grew up in was dysfunctional. He had downloaded that dysfunction without recognizing it, and it became the template he carried forward.

He ties this to timing. In the episode, Lipton brings up the early-life brain state that he associates with programming, describing a rule about how the young brain absorbs information from its surroundings. The broader point he makes is that absorbed behavior, especially from caregivers, becomes the default software. That is why, in his telling, the person does not experience the program as a program. It simply feels like how life works.

What does this look like in relationships and everyday choices?

The talk keeps returning to relationships because that is where programs are easiest to see from the outside and hardest to notice from within. Lipton's story about his parents shows how a childhood pattern can persist for decades, shaping choices that feel like personal preference. The implication for listeners is uncomfortable but practical: if you keep repeating the same relational outcomes, the pattern may be less about bad luck and more about a program you have been running without awareness.

Mark Groves frames the episode in a similar spirit, describing his own move from questioning how his mind worked to asking why he believed what he believed. That shift, from accepting beliefs to examining them, is the working method the conversation implicitly recommends. Lipton's message is not that people are helpless against their programs. It is that people can become aware of them, and awareness is the first step to changing what runs the show.

How can you start noticing your own programs?

The episode's description promises "three practical ways" to reprogram the subconscious mind and replace disempowering beliefs. The portion of the transcript available for this article does not spell those three methods out in full, so it would be inaccurate to present a list as Lipton's own. What the material does make clear is the logic that leads toward practice. First, recognize that many reactions come from programs you did not consciously choose. Second, look at the patterns that repeat across your relationships and your health, since Lipton treats them as evidence of the underlying software. Third, consider that perception and belief are, in his account, biologically relevant rather than merely mental.

For listeners who want to go deeper, the most faithful next step is to hear Lipton's full explanation in his own words. The conversation moves quickly between cell biology, childhood development, and personal anecdote, and the connections only fully land when you hear them in sequence. Treat the ideas as an invitation to inquiry rather than a verdict, and notice what happens when you ask the question he keeps asking: where did this belief come from, and who taught it to me?

Where to go from here

Start with the full episode, which includes the three practical ways that the excerpt does not cover, and listen for the moments where Lipton returns to his lab and to the three petri dishes. Then read his books. Lipton is the author of The Biology of Belief and The Honeymoon Effect, and he co-wrote Spontaneous Evolution with Steve Bhaerman. His background as a cell biologist who taught at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and later did stem cell research at Stanford gives his claims about perception and biology their particular weight. Finally, consider his 2009 recognition with the Goi Peace Award from Japan, which honored his scientific contribution to world harmony, as one measure of how far his bridge between science and spirit has traveled.

[0:05] hello and welcome to the mark groves

[0:07] podcast

[0:09] today is one of those days where a dream

[0:12] i had about being able to sit down with

[0:14] this man got realized and

[0:18] uh man

[0:19] i can't say enough that you don't

[0:21] realize where life's gonna take you when

[0:23] you follow what lights you up when you

[0:25] follow that calling

[0:27] and i never would have imagined honestly

[0:30] this moment i

[0:32] just feel so honored i

[0:34] i feel like that like little sliver of

[0:37] hope that we have when we're going

[0:38] through the cracking but we're like

[0:40] there's a calling that's so much deeper

[0:42] like your cells are saying

[0:44] no keep going like this is the way this

[0:46] is the way and i don't always listen to

[0:49] that and i didn't always listen to that

[0:50] and yet i know that that is always the

[0:52] way

[0:54] sometimes it just takes a little more

[0:57] pain to to wake us up to redirect us a

[0:59] little more rejection to redirect us

[1:02] and here we are so we're all in the

[1:04] perfect place and

[1:06] you know when i began questioning how

[1:10] my mind worked and what i believed and

[1:12] why i believed what i believed and how

[1:14] that impacted my life inevitably you are

[1:16] brought to the work of dr bruce lipton

[1:19] dr bruce lipton

[1:21] he wrote the biology of belief he also

[1:24] wrote the honeymoon effect he's an

[1:26] author of more than just those two books

[1:28] he's

[1:29] such an incredible man and he really

[1:31] inspired so much of

[1:34] taking

[1:35] science

[1:37] which is where i came from

[1:39] originally and merging it with the

[1:41] spirit

[1:42] and

[1:44] it's just so beautiful to be able to

[1:46] have someone who translates and unifies

[1:49] those things

[1:50] and so

[1:51] there's not really much else to say

[1:53] other than this is such a dream come

[1:55] true and i'm so excited if this is the

[1:57] first time you're discovering bruce

[1:59] lipton's work

[2:01] get ready

[2:02] because god damn

[2:04] and

[2:05] if you're being welcomed back to it like

[2:06] i was in this interview

[2:09] god damn

[2:10] either way

[2:11] uh we're all about to be expanded and to

[2:14] have the way we see the world shifted

[2:17] and

[2:18] shifted in such a beautiful way that

[2:20] provides us

[2:22] with possibility

[2:24] so before we dive in to this episode

[2:27] wherever you listen to it if you can

[2:28] give it a five star review and a written

[2:30] review that's so helpful in supporting

[2:31] the podcast

[2:32] and share it if this lights you up if

[2:35] this

[2:36] inspires you please share the episode

[2:38] and make sure you tag me on instagram

[2:41] and much love and appreciation to you

[2:43] i'm eternally grateful

[2:45] that i get to call this

[2:46] work

[2:47] and

[2:48] it just means so much i i'm honestly so

[2:51] honored

[2:52] that

[2:53] we get to have these conversations

[2:55] together and learn together and

[2:58] yeah i don't know that there's enough

[3:00] words i can put in to how much gratitude

[3:02] i have

[3:03] for you being on this journey with me

[3:06] so without further ado here's dr bruce

[3:09] lipton

[3:10] [Music]

[3:12] hello welcome dr bruce lipton i'm so

[3:16] excited to have you here

[3:18] mark i am excited because uh you know my

[3:21] interests and the interests of your

[3:23] audience co you know they co-aligned

[3:25] together on this because it's all about

[3:27] how to enjoy this planet how to have

[3:30] wonderful relationships how to make

[3:31] heaven on earth a way of life

[3:33] rather than just something we step into

[3:35] occasionally

[3:37] yeah isn't that it rather than being an

[3:39] escape or a temporary space it'd

[3:42] actually be our sort of uh

[3:44] ethos or or regular everyday experience

[3:48] well uh you know i never believed in

[3:50] yeah i have to say you know for over 40

[3:52] or more years i never believed in love

[3:55] because my experience with it was always

[3:57] failing and i thought oh okay i'm

[3:59] practicing and i'm losing out here it's

[4:01] not really working and oh it works in a

[4:04] book and it works in a movie but i'm not

[4:06] really sure it works in real life

[4:08] uh

[4:09] and then through

[4:11] the understanding of my research i

[4:13] realized oh my god my behavior of how to

[4:16] make a relationship was programmed by

[4:18] observing my mother and father and

[4:20] downloading their their behavior which

[4:22] became my program and i didn't realize

[4:25] because first of all that was a

[4:27] dysfunctional relationship i grew up in

[4:29] and then i downloaded dysfunction

[4:32] and didn't realize as we now know that

[4:35] 95 of our life is coming from those

[4:37] downloaded programs

[4:40] and we don't see them it's called

[4:41] subconscious for a reason it's below

[4:44] conscious so when we are creating our

[4:46] experiences

[4:48] 95 of the time we don't even see what

[4:51] we're saying and doing is coming

[4:53] straight out of the program

[4:55] but that's a lot to unpack right now

[4:57] mark so let's try to

[4:59] you know narrow it down

[5:01] you ask i'll talk

[5:03] i love this well

[5:04] where does the basis of like where did

[5:07] the base of your ideas or this

[5:09] understanding the the idea that even 95

[5:12] of what we do is unconscious because you

[5:14] know in all of my education which went

[5:17] through you know to university and

[5:20] management and business and then

[5:22] psychology

[5:23] that was never uncovered so i'm curious

[5:26] you know not until maybe more modern

[5:28] times maybe in more recent last five

[5:29] years since your work has been

[5:31] popularized so yeah curious what gave

[5:33] birth to them and and what did you learn

[5:35] that that sort of shattered your own

[5:37] constructs well you have to recognize at

[5:40] this time which is 50 50 years ago yeah

[5:43] it was a while

[5:45] i was cloning stem cells and back 50

[5:47] years ago there were only a handful of

[5:48] us in the entire world that even knew

[5:50] what a stem cell was so i was in a

[5:52] unique position and a unique place to

[5:55] discover something new and uh

[5:57] stem cells are just embryonic cells and

[6:00] i say well they're not just embryonic

[6:01] cells they're embryonic cells that are

[6:03] in your body right now and i say why

[6:05] should i have embryonic cells well

[6:07] simple point a body is made out of 50

[6:10] trillion cells easy to say trillion is

[6:12] like

[6:13] mind-boggling of trying to calculate it

[6:16] a little a little inside story because i

[6:18] checked it out i said if you wanted to

[6:20] count 50 trillion cells one at a time

[6:22] one two three four five you're you know

[6:25] how long it would take counting day and

[6:26] night you ready

[6:28] 1 million 650

[6:31] 000 years to count to 50 trillion

[6:34] so it's like okay that's a big number

[6:38] yeah and every day in our 50 million

[6:40] cells a large number of them are dying

[6:42] off that's normal attrition the skin

[6:44] cells fluffing off hair cells coming out

[6:47] the digestive tract the whole lining

[6:50] millions and millions of cells are

[6:52] replaced every three days so

[6:54] the most important question if i'm

[6:55] losing hundreds of billions of cells a

[6:57] day

[6:59] how long can i live i say well if you

[7:01] don't have stem cells a very short

[7:02] lifespan but if you have stem cells in

[7:05] your body embryonic cells their job is

[7:07] as you lose so many every day you make

[7:09] so many new ones every day so we're

[7:11] still here so anybody out there that's

[7:13] listening to us you've got stem cells

[7:15] embryonic cells in your body so what was

[7:16] the difference here in my life was i was

[7:18] teaching medical students the

[7:20] conventional story how genes control

[7:22] life

[7:23] stop for a second i said what does that

[7:25] story actually mean to us as humans and

[7:28] i go this as far as you know you didn't

[7:30] pick the genes you came with you don't

[7:32] like the characteristics that you have

[7:34] you can't change the genes and then on

[7:36] top of that of course we add the genes

[7:38] turn on and off by themselves and i said

[7:40] you put all those facts together and

[7:42] what you come down to is we are victims

[7:45] of our heredity oh my god there's cancer

[7:47] running my family i'm going to get a

[7:48] cancer gene oh my i can't do anything

[7:50] about it does it by itself

[7:53] and so i was programming uh doctors for

[7:56] the conventional belief that we were

[7:57] victims and doctors are here to take

[7:59] care of us because we're victims

[8:01] meanwhile i'm growing stem cells these

[8:04] embryonic cells in in my lab cloning

[8:06] them which means i put one stem cell in

[8:08] the dish by itself it divides every 10

[8:10] or 12 hours so first is one then two

[8:12] then four eight sixteen doubling after a

[8:16] week thirty thousand cells and here's

[8:18] the experiment that changed my life

[8:19] these are thirty thousand genetically

[8:22] identical cells because they came from

[8:23] one parent cell that's cloning and i go

[8:26] i split those cells into three petri

[8:28] dishes 10 000 cells in each dish they're

[8:31] all genetically identical

[8:33] and we grow cells in something called

[8:34] culture medium that secret is going to

[8:36] come out here in a minute after i

[8:38] explain it

[8:39] culture medium is environment that sells

[8:41] growing and and we synthesize in the lab

[8:44] and since i'm doing that i made three

[8:46] chemically different versions of culture

[8:49] medium so each set of dishes each set

[8:52] have you know one once that got culture

[8:55] medium a

[8:56] the second dish got culture medium b of

[8:59] version and third dish had culture

[9:01] medium c another version

[9:04] and what was the most blow away thing

[9:06] was that in one dish the cells form

[9:08] muscle in the second dish the cells form

[9:10] bone and a third dish the cells form fat

[9:13] cells and the first thing is wait a

[9:14] minute

[9:16] all the cells were genetically identical

[9:19] why did one become muscle why did one

[9:21] become bone the other become fat what

[9:23] controlled the fate and it was like well

[9:25] the only thing that was different was

[9:27] the composition of the culture medium

[9:29] and i go oh

[9:30] so the most like here's the blow weight

[9:33] wait a minute

[9:34] genetic control wasn't controlled by the

[9:37] genes inside the cell it was controlled

[9:38] by the environment outside the cell it

[9:41] was but this is not what we're teaching

[9:43] you know

[9:46] and my whole life was wait a minute

[9:48] the conventional world genes turned on

[9:50] out of control and this world said no

[9:52] way genes didn't control that

[9:55] and the environment controlled it and i

[9:58] was like the radical crazy man because

[10:00] everyone in the world dreams control

[10:02] life and lipton's going nah they don't

[10:03] you know

[10:05] and it took 23 years after my original

[10:09] studies before science then became

[10:12] officially recognizing a new insight

[10:14] called epigenetics

[10:16] and i go what does that be genetics i

[10:18] say well old story

[10:20] genes control this character genetics

[10:23] controls this character and i go nope

[10:26] false statement new statement

[10:28] epigenetics controls this character i

[10:30] said well it sounds the same i go no

[10:33] epi means above a matter of fact what we

[10:36] call skin is called epidermis and the

[10:39] reason simple below the layer of the

[10:41] skin is another layer called the dermis

[10:43] so above the dermis epidermis means

[10:46] above and i go well what is epigenetic

[10:48] control and i say control epi above

[10:52] genetics control above genes

[10:56] wait the control wasn't in the genesis

[10:59] we always told everybody and now uh you

[11:01] know i saw it you know 19 50 years ago i

[11:05] said wait a minute the genes aren't

[11:07] making decisions they're responding to

[11:09] the environment that they live in okay

[11:11] so now we take that step jump to the

[11:13] next step and that is this but wait

[11:16] what is culture medium that we make and

[11:19] i go the laboratory version of blood

[11:22] so if i grow human cells what is the

[11:24] human blood made out of and then i put

[11:26] that into the mixture culture medium for

[11:28] human cells mouse oh look at mouse blood

[11:31] mix that up and grow mouth cells and i

[11:34] go so what's the point and the point is

[11:36] this the culture medium is equivalent to

[11:39] blood

[11:40] okay go i say so what and i go well

[11:42] we're putting cells in a plastic petri

[11:44] dish and then comes as i mentioned wait

[11:47] a human is a skin covered petri dish and

[11:51] they're 50 trillion 50 trillion inside

[11:54] cells and i go and i go

[11:57] does it make a difference if the cell is

[11:58] in a plastic dish or a skin dish it

[12:00] doesn't make any difference why it's

[12:02] controlled by the environment i go in

[12:04] the plastic dish

[12:05] it was controlled by the culture medium

[12:07] and i go in the human skin covered dish

[12:10] the culture medium is the blood

[12:13] and i said oh wait a minute then the

[12:15] blood chemistry

[12:17] is controlling our genetics not our

[12:18] genes controlling themselves

[12:20] and they go well that takes us to

[12:22] another place and i said well if the

[12:23] chemistry of the blood is controlling my

[12:26] genetics and my behavior

[12:28] who controls the chemistry of the blood

[12:31] and then is coming down to a good answer

[12:33] here mark hold on i say

[12:35] who makes the blood and i go the brain

[12:38] is the chemist

[12:40] and so i'm going yeah yeah yeah and then

[12:41] comes the next and the biggest question

[12:44] so what chemistry should the brain be

[12:46] putting into the blood

[12:48] and the answer is you're ready

[12:51] whatever picture

[12:52] you hold in your mind

[12:55] the brain translates that into

[12:57] complementary chemistry for that picture

[13:00] and then sends that chemistry to the

[13:01] body so your body repre is now being

[13:05] expressing what the picture was in your

[13:07] mind oh is it a picture of love or a

[13:09] picture of fear i go well that's

[13:12] different chemistry love releases great

[13:15] chemistry dopamine for pleasure mark i

[13:17] shouldn't have to tell you about your

[13:18] audience you already know you but this

[13:20] is great yeah pleasure and love all

[13:22] that's beautiful oxytocin comes out when

[13:24] you're in love that bonds you to the

[13:25] love uh growth hormone

[13:28] and i go what's growth hormone i said

[13:30] well it does exactly what it says when

[13:31] you're in love you release growth

[13:33] hormone i go what's that vitality health

[13:37] that's what it's about i say so when

[13:38] you're in love you're healthy i go yeah

[13:40] people in love oh they glow look at them

[13:42] they're in love see how they glow

[13:44] the glow

[13:45] is healthy vibration

[13:48] i say so when you're in a picture of

[13:50] love picture of love brain translates a

[13:53] dopamine oxytocin growth hormone these

[13:56] enhance your vitality i say but wait

[13:59] wait what if the picture is fear what if

[14:01] i'm afraid of something i go oh

[14:03] well you don't release okay love

[14:05] chemistry and fear you release stress

[14:07] hormones and factors that affect the

[14:09] immune system

[14:11] a matter of fact it shuts down growth

[14:13] and actually put you in a state of fight

[14:16] or flight and i go so what was the point

[14:18] i said the body was responding to what

[14:22] the picture in your mind

[14:24] and all of a sudden you start to say

[14:26] well then what about your thoughts and

[14:27] then i go well there's where the problem

[14:29] comes from because uh conventional

[14:32] people the average thoughts are or

[14:36] negative thoughts and repeated over and

[14:38] over again okay

[14:40] uh and so for example i grew up with hey

[14:43] how come i can't have a relationship and

[14:44] i go because my picture of relationship

[14:47] that i downloaded from my parents which

[14:49] was generating my behavior

[14:52] canceled my opportunity to have

[14:54] relationships because nobody wanted that

[14:56] dysfunction and i was playing the role

[14:59] of dysfunction okay so we jump to the

[15:01] next level and this is the big part mark

[15:03] then it goes like this

[15:05] so the brain is controlling the

[15:07] chemistry the chemistry controls

[15:09] behavior and genetics and then i say but

[15:12] the mind is doing this and here comes

[15:14] the big

[15:15] ha and i go what is it and i go

[15:18] the mind like one mind i go that's the

[15:21] problem there are two minds

[15:24] and they are interdependent they work

[15:26] together interdependent but they're not

[15:28] the same

[15:29] and guess what they have two different

[15:31] functions and as you emphasized a little

[15:34] earlier if you repeat a lot uh that not

[15:38] only they have different functions but

[15:40] they learn in different ways

[15:42] so if you want to change your mind

[15:44] depends on which of the minds i said

[15:46] well there's two minds conscious mind

[15:48] that's connected to our personal

[15:50] identity our spirituality who am i

[15:53] mark you and i have different conscious

[15:55] mind contents why you have mark coming

[15:58] in i have bruce coming into my conscious

[16:00] mind and i go the conscious mind just

[16:02] right behind your forehead

[16:04] lobe of brain called prefrontal cortex

[16:06] the rest of the brain back here

[16:08] is subconscious mind and the name

[16:11] subconscious means it operates without

[16:14] you even paying attention subconscious

[16:16] so thankfully yeah my heartbeat my body

[16:19] temperature you know the functions of my

[16:22] organs my breathing i don't have to pay

[16:24] attention subconscious controls all that

[16:26] okay

[16:27] but

[16:29] and here's the issue

[16:30] anything we learn

[16:32] can be a program in the subconscious so

[16:35] quick point the the the mind is like a

[16:39] computer it is a computer in fact it is

[16:42] and i go significance is uh

[16:45] the character of our silicon computers

[16:48] overlays exactly the character of our

[16:50] mind computer and i go in what way i say

[16:52] well in the old days you would buy a

[16:54] computer it didn't come with programs

[16:56] the old days you get a brand new

[16:57] computer you bring it home you push uh

[17:00] start and it boots up and the screen's

[17:02] on and i go great do something and say

[17:05] oh no the next step before i can use a

[17:08] computer is i got to put programs in the

[17:10] computer and then once i have the

[17:12] programs then i can type onto the

[17:14] computer and add my information so here

[17:17] comes the mind computer and the basis is

[17:20] this the subconscious is the hard drive

[17:22] with programs in it

[17:24] okay the conscious is the one typing on

[17:27] the keyboard so the conscious mind can

[17:30] type any story it wants into the

[17:32] keyboard and play the game okay the

[17:34] subconscious mind just got programs and

[17:36] i say

[17:37] where do we get our programs and here's

[17:39] how it works in the first seven years of

[17:41] a child's life the brain

[17:43] is in record it's in theta a vibration

[17:47] that's below consciousness but it is a

[17:49] state of

[17:50] what you see you download that's how we

[17:53] learned how do you be a member of a

[17:54] family i said well observe your family

[17:57] and then you know what how they behave

[17:59] and how do you become a member of the

[18:00] community well observe them and when

[18:03] you're in this state of theta which is

[18:05] the first seven years what you observe

[18:08] is downloaded so where did your

[18:10] behaviors come from first from programs

[18:13] yeah but where did those programs come

[18:15] from and here's where the problem is not

[18:17] from you

[18:18] it came from other people i say

[18:21] significance as you hold life is around

[18:24] here bargain all significance is that is

[18:27] those people i downloaded the program

[18:28] from have the same wishes and desires as

[18:31] i have and i go

[18:32] no

[18:33] then if i play their program will i

[18:36] manifest my wishes and desires no

[18:39] you're going to just emulate what you

[18:40] downloaded it's playback record playback

[18:43] so okay so i say

[18:46] last trimester of pregnancy

[18:48] the screen boots up mine's ready to go

[18:51] then we're in theta vibration that

[18:54] downloads experiences okay so even the

[18:57] fetus is getting experiences i go

[19:00] where's the experiences from a fetus

[19:02] inside the mother i go remember the

[19:04] fetus is nourished by blood and i go

[19:06] yeah but the blood that nourishes the

[19:09] fetus says the mother's blood i go yeah

[19:11] but blood has nutrition i go yeah it

[19:13] sure does but it also has information

[19:16] growth hormones neuropeptides emotional

[19:18] chemicals and all that that regulate our

[19:20] body so when the mother is nourishing

[19:23] the fetus not only she providing

[19:24] nutrition she's providing information

[19:28] and if there's repetitive action in that

[19:31] behavior

[19:32] then that is learned by the fetus even

[19:34] before it's born

[19:36] and so then it says well well the mother

[19:39] is programming the the fetus i go yeah

[19:41] and through epigenetics

[19:44] that's how you control genes

[19:46] her blood content controls the genetic

[19:50] behavior of the fetus as it's developing

[19:52] she's a genetic engineer how she sees

[19:55] the world the just the genetics of the

[19:57] fetus is not born

[19:58] because simple rule when the fetus is

[20:01] born it's going to live in the same

[20:03] world that the mother lives in so the

[20:05] mother is head start hey this is a great

[20:08] loving world welcome to the world that

[20:09] fetus comes out it's like yeah i'm in a

[20:11] great place but if the mother is not

[20:13] sure about her world she's upset she

[20:15] feels in fear can the stress levels the

[20:18] anger you know and all that kind of

[20:20] stuff well that sends different

[20:21] chemistry into into the fetus

[20:24] a stressed mother

[20:27] because of her chemistry of stress

[20:29] hormones

[20:30] can reduce the intelligence of her child

[20:33] by 50 percent

[20:36] because in a stress mode it doesn't

[20:38] enhance the development of the nervous

[20:40] system gets you ready for fight or

[20:42] flight not for consciousness so

[20:45] um

[20:46] we begin program before we're born

[20:49] uh and program you can identify that's

[20:51] easy like if there's music played to you

[20:54] know for the fetus the vibration of that

[20:57] music while it's developing and

[21:00] you play the same music when that baby

[21:03] is born and you play the music the baby

[21:05] will have a memory of exactly that

[21:07] memory of i remember that music because

[21:10] it was played over and over again okay

[21:12] so

[21:13] first seven years starts off with

[21:15] programming before we're born then when

[21:17] we're born we spend seven years in a

[21:20] state of hypnosis which is theta but

[21:23] characterized as imagination and

[21:24] behavior that's how kids below seven mix

[21:27] the real world and the imaginary world

[21:29] because they're in theta

[21:32] which is expressing hypnosis but it's

[21:34] also expressing imagination

[21:36] the uh the child on the broom writing it

[21:40] because in its mind it's not a broom

[21:42] they've transformed that you know

[21:44] imagination that's a horse the mother

[21:47] says give me the broom the child's like

[21:49] he doesn't even know what you're

[21:51] talking about right it's not bro it's a

[21:53] horse you know but that's theta so we

[21:55] download programs and age seven uh then

[21:59] our conscious mind kicks in and guess

[22:00] what that's the beautiful one

[22:02] that's the one that says i can type on

[22:04] the keyboard i want to change my world i

[22:06] want to change what i'm doing oh i said

[22:08] well then conscious mind can do that

[22:11] now mark your whole career here in

[22:13] helping people comes from this fact

[22:17] that the two minds work together

[22:20] if the conscious mind is paying

[22:22] attention

[22:23] then the conscious mind is typing on the

[22:25] keyboard and creating life

[22:28] but the conscious mind and here it is

[22:30] the conscious mind can think i go

[22:33] what the hell does that mean i go

[22:36] thinking is not looking out at the world

[22:38] thinking is looking in for a thought

[22:41] thoughts are on the inside and so if you

[22:44] want to think about something you have

[22:46] to go into your head it's a thought

[22:47] process you can essentially close your

[22:49] eyes yeah i'm thinking i don't need to

[22:51] see what's going on i'm in my head i go

[22:54] yeah but if your conscious mind which is

[22:56] controlling the system is thinking

[22:59] then it's not paying attention to what's

[23:02] going on in the world a very simple

[23:04] point

[23:04] most of us have been in a car

[23:06] we've been dr if we're driving for a

[23:08] while

[23:08] uh and you have a passenger in the car

[23:10] we get into a wonderful conversation and

[23:13] then you look out the window and you

[23:15] realize i haven't paid attention to the

[23:17] road for the last five minutes you know

[23:20] and i always joke i say oh yeah tell

[23:22] your passenger hey guess what while we

[23:23] were talking i didn't pay attention to

[23:25] the road

[23:26] you know like that makes them feel good

[23:27] you know don't say it really but

[23:29] uh the point about it comes down to this

[23:32] it says

[23:33] you were on the road five minutes you

[23:35] were in conversation here comes the

[23:37] whole problem right there in the story

[23:39] ready i say what was your conversation

[23:41] about you go oh

[23:43] we talked about this and this and this

[23:44] and this thing okay

[23:46] next question

[23:47] what was on the road during the five

[23:49] minutes when you were driving you'd go

[23:52] i have no idea what the hell was on the

[23:54] road yeah no cleo no because you know

[23:56] why my consciousness was not looking out

[23:58] the window i was involved with a

[24:01] conversation i said yeah but apparently

[24:03] you didn't kill anybody and you're still

[24:05] driving and the police haven't stopped

[24:07] you and you know i go then who the hell

[24:10] was driving the car

[24:12] well the answer is simple

[24:14] driving is a habit you learned and

[24:16] habits are in the subconscious mind so

[24:18] the moment you started focusing on the

[24:21] conversation

[24:22] the conscious mind was not paying

[24:23] attention

[24:25] the subconscious mind was running the

[24:27] driving and doing is probably better

[24:30] than when you're driving with your

[24:31] conscious mind okay

[24:33] but here comes this is the issue and

[24:35] this is why your work is so valuable

[24:39] and as i just said

[24:41] when the conscious mind is not paying

[24:42] attention the behavior is coming from

[24:44] the subconscious program but you do not

[24:47] see the behavior because you're not

[24:50] paying attention it's running

[24:52] automatically so i say well what does

[24:54] that mean i say

[24:56] you don't see your own behavior

[24:58] and i go where did that behavior come

[25:00] from i said well remember when you stop

[25:02] paying attention

[25:04] the subconscious is autopilot

[25:07] the moment you're not paying attention

[25:09] something subconscious knows how to do

[25:10] it walk talk the job you do you don't

[25:13] have to think about that it's a program

[25:15] okay

[25:16] so 95 of the day is the amount of time a

[25:19] person is thinking

[25:21] which means and this is the fact i'm not

[25:24] here

[25:25] you're not there 95 of the day but

[25:27] you're you're participating and i go how

[25:30] am i participating well the subconscious

[25:32] is autopilot it's just gonna run the

[25:33] program you know how to talk to people

[25:36] live you learn how to do that you know

[25:38] how to drive the car ride the bike play

[25:40] a music instrument you don't have to

[25:42] work on the details

[25:43] it's already a program so here comes the

[25:46] biggest issue

[25:47] and that is

[25:49] 95 of our life is not coming from our

[25:52] wishes and desires 95 is coming from the

[25:55] program if you've got a good program

[25:57] then fabulous why you don't even have to

[25:59] think about you could just be hanging

[26:00] out all day and the program will

[26:01] automatically get you where you want to

[26:03] go

[26:04] but if you don't have a good program

[26:07] you will be sabotaging yourself all day

[26:09] with behavior you don't see

[26:11] mark the same story you've probably even

[26:14] read in the book but it talks about the

[26:16] fact that you have a friend and you know

[26:18] your friend's behavior very well and you

[26:20] know your friend's parent and one day

[26:22] you see your friend has the exact same

[26:24] behavior as the parent and i go and what

[26:28] do you want to do you want to tell them

[26:29] you got you got you just got

[26:32] hey bill you're just like your dad

[26:36] back away from bill i know exactly what

[26:38] the hell bill's gonna say when you say

[26:40] that and i know it and he's gonna say

[26:42] how can you compare me to my dad i'm

[26:44] nothing like my dad

[26:46] and the audience laughs and the and the

[26:48] reason why is we've all had that

[26:51] experience i said well

[26:53] why is this the most profound story that

[26:55] i can finish and then let mark take over

[26:57] because why is this the most profound

[26:59] story simply this

[27:01] everyone else can see bill's behavior

[27:04] the only one who doesn't see it is bill

[27:07] i see because bill says how can you

[27:09] compare me with my dad everyone says i

[27:11] can't i could see you and he says how

[27:13] can you do that and the reason why he

[27:15] can't

[27:16] see that like you see it is

[27:18] when he's doing that program that he

[27:21] downloaded from his dad why is he

[27:23] playing it and the answer is he's not

[27:25] paying attention with his conscious mind

[27:27] so whatever's coming out it's like

[27:29] driving the car i didn't see what was on

[27:31] the road i didn't see what i just said

[27:34] why it was automatic subconscious below

[27:37] level of conscious my consciousness had

[27:40] nothing to do with it it was a program

[27:42] so

[27:44] the issue that you're dealing with mark

[27:46] is

[27:46] one of the most important issues on the

[27:48] planet because

[27:50] first of all relationships are required

[27:53] in biology i i have a quote here i want

[27:55] to read it it's from

[27:57] a biologist lewis thomas and

[28:00] years ago he wrote a book called the

[28:01] lives of the cell

[28:03] i loved it was a whole bunch of essays

[28:05] okay but here's an excerpt from it and

[28:08] it's quote it is beyond our imagination

[28:11] to conceive of a single form of life

[28:14] that exists alone and independent

[28:17] unattached to others why every form of

[28:21] life is connected to other forms of life

[28:23] there's no form of life that's not it's

[28:25] disconnected and i go this is from

[28:28] bacteria up to humans and i go

[28:31] significance is this

[28:33] our

[28:34] are coming together

[28:35] in relationships

[28:38] is built from the very first organisms

[28:40] that were here as part of our biological

[28:43] imperative to do this

[28:45] and so

[28:46] no matter how many times you may have

[28:47] failed at finding love guess what you'll

[28:49] still go out and do it again because

[28:52] it's a drive to do it okay so that's the

[28:56] first thing you

[28:57] you i'm not looking for a relationship i

[28:59] go well yes you are

[29:02] yeah exactly without these relationships

[29:05] okay and when it comes to love

[29:06] relationships

[29:07] there's programs how how do i create a

[29:11] love relationship well now it depends on

[29:13] my teacher in my case

[29:16] my father was my teacher and i go well

[29:17] he sucked at relationships guess what i

[29:21] downloaded suck relationship program and

[29:24] that's why for over 40 years i couldn't

[29:26] get a damn relationship off the ground

[29:28] why i didn't see

[29:30] 95 of the day

[29:33] my subconscious programs that were

[29:35] playing

[29:37] everyone else saw them a future partner

[29:39] saw them

[29:40] i didn't see them when i did them and if

[29:43] they were not very positive programs

[29:45] then what do you expect the result to be

[29:47] like me

[29:48] 40-plus years no relationship at all

[29:53] then when the understanding of

[29:55] subconscious and conscious as two

[29:57] different parts of the same mind

[30:00] recognizing that 95 was coming from the

[30:02] program is like oh crap am i playing my

[30:05] dad no wonder i can't get a damn

[30:07] relationship off the ground

[30:09] and then here comes the big one because

[30:11] you've mentioned it in your work and to

[30:13] me

[30:14] this is the big one you ready and the

[30:16] basic thing is this

[30:19] can you say in truthfulness i love

[30:23] myself

[30:24] and the answer i can tell you right now

[30:27] eighty ninety percent eight nine out of

[30:29] ten people

[30:31] will not be able to

[30:34] truthfully own

[30:36] i love myself

[30:37] i go

[30:38] you don't love yourself

[30:40] i go

[30:41] well how does that relate to loving

[30:42] somebody else i said if we can't love

[30:44] yourself nobody else can love you

[30:47] because if they say i love you you go

[30:49] well you don't have any good quality

[30:50] control i know i'm not lovable some

[30:53] what's wrong with you

[30:55] and then we push them away and then

[30:56] they're not there and then you say see

[30:59] i'm not lovable nobody's here i go

[31:02] unconsciously you push them away with

[31:04] behavior

[31:06] that did not encourage it

[31:08] and i want you to talk but i gotta then

[31:10] follow through on this and

[31:12] i'm getting there mark keep going keep

[31:14] going man then you're you're ripping i

[31:16] love it

[31:17] well the problem comes down to simply

[31:20] this the story of bill is that uh we're

[31:23] not we're not running our lives uh with

[31:26] our conscious wishes and desires we're

[31:27] running with our programs

[31:29] and our programs are sabotaging us and

[31:32] that's because we play the programs 95

[31:34] percent of the time and we don't see

[31:36] that we're even engaged so we perceive

[31:38] ourselves as victims but i said to why

[31:41] do 80 90 percent of people cannot say i

[31:44] love myself and here's the story

[31:48] consider a a person on a team

[31:51] sports team

[31:52] and the coach comes up because the per

[31:54] the player isn't performing up to its

[31:56] ability you know so the coach comes up

[31:58] to talk to the player the coach doesn't

[32:00] go oh please do better not the coach is

[32:04] not going to say that coach is going to

[32:05] say hey come on man you don't you don't

[32:08] deserve to be here you know yeah you

[32:11] know the the coach is uh saying that you

[32:15] you got to work harder you don't deserve

[32:16] it you're you know you're not good

[32:18] enough to be on the team and criticize

[32:20] the player

[32:22] and then i say so what's the relevance

[32:24] of that okay

[32:25] and the relevance is simply this

[32:28] that

[32:29] the person the coach was criticizing the

[32:32] player saying you're not good enough

[32:34] okay

[32:35] now i said well that works on the team

[32:37] the player is going to say yeah i

[32:38] understand coach i'm going to work

[32:40] harder okay great

[32:41] but a child under age seven and this is

[32:44] the okay the big issue in the whole

[32:46] world's here

[32:47] a child under seven

[32:50] is not conscious to think out things

[32:53] they're recording

[32:55] so if the parent

[32:58] says that's not good enough you don't

[33:00] deserve this you're not lovable who do

[33:02] you think you are

[33:04] the child is not consciously

[33:06] understanding like an older child with

[33:09] understanding the coach the younger

[33:10] child is just recording i'm not good

[33:12] enough i'm not smart enough i'm not

[33:15] lovable that's just the words the

[33:17] parents said boom no consciousness

[33:19] remember age through age seven record

[33:22] record so a child records not good

[33:25] enough not lovable not this not that not

[33:28] this that whatever

[33:29] and i go

[33:31] all of us

[33:32] have been in that situation

[33:35] and i go

[33:36] the relevance of that is a child

[33:38] downloads the words but does not have

[33:41] the consciousness to understand the

[33:42] meaning other than the words and i say

[33:45] then most all of us have grown up with

[33:48] criticisms

[33:50] about us i'm not good enough i'm not

[33:52] lovable i'm not deserving i said where'd

[33:55] you get that i said

[33:56] your parents said that when you were kid

[33:58] and you recorded it because you were in

[34:00] record

[34:01] and i go oh my god

[34:03] the the then the issue about all this

[34:05] really comes down the fact that

[34:07] we don't love ourselves

[34:10] because of the self-criticism in our own

[34:13] program i'm not worthy i'm not deserving

[34:17] i'm not lovable i said those are your

[34:20] programs and you played that 95 of the

[34:22] day then the life that you have

[34:24] it's not anything that you wanted

[34:27] in regard to let's say relationships why

[34:30] i'm not lovable i'm self-critical and

[34:32] that's 80 to 90 percent of people

[34:35] are self-critical so that it's very hard

[34:38] for them to take in outside

[34:41] outside information because they already

[34:42] have a program boom that's it no matter

[34:45] what you say i'm not lovable that's the

[34:47] program okay

[34:49] and so the issue about it is

[34:51] all of us

[34:53] have been in that situation all of us

[34:55] have been programmed with beliefs that

[34:57] are not supporting us in their

[34:59] subconscious we don't see them playing

[35:01] but they played 95 percent of the day so

[35:03] our lives are not what we wanted to make

[35:06] out of them it goes back to exactly what

[35:08] the jesuit said

[35:10] whatever the program was in the first

[35:12] seven years that's our life

[35:15] and then i say

[35:17] what was the program

[35:19] i go well here's the problem

[35:21] you started getting programmed before

[35:23] you were born so you obviously have no

[35:25] conscious recognition i have no idea how

[35:27] the program went i said well hey you

[35:29] were programmed a whole year from zero

[35:31] to one you were being programmed every

[35:33] minute of being awake you were being

[35:35] programmed what was that ago

[35:36] i don't know what the program was okay

[35:38] you were programmed a whole year from

[35:40] one to two what was those programming

[35:42] i don't remember those programs about

[35:45] three to f so you start to remember some

[35:47] of these things because consciousness is

[35:48] starting to kick in a little bit and i

[35:50] can remember some of it but i say

[35:53] issue

[35:54] your life is coming from your programs

[35:56] and right now you won't be able to tell

[35:58] me what your programs are and then come

[36:01] the solution and here it is and finally

[36:04] if i say this i would like to then turn

[36:06] it over to you mark because here's a

[36:07] solution and here's the issue i say

[36:10] what were my programs i wasn't there and

[36:12] i have no awareness of it and then i go

[36:15] 95

[36:17] of your life is the program

[36:20] your life is a printout of your program

[36:24] i go why is that so important i say look

[36:26] at your life right now and the point is

[36:28] just the things that you like that come

[36:30] into your life how come they come in i

[36:32] say because i have a program to

[36:33] acknowledge those things

[36:34] but this is the one that you're working

[36:37] so hard mark to help people with

[36:39] the idea is this

[36:41] is that

[36:43] what about the things you want and you

[36:44] have a hard time getting him and i said

[36:46] work i'm working hard i'm struggling i'm

[36:49] putting a lot of effort i'm gonna make a

[36:50] lot of i'm gonna make this happen i'm

[36:52] working i'm working hard i'm sweating

[36:54] and i go

[36:55] why are you working so hard and the

[36:57] answer is simple

[36:59] you don't have a program to support that

[37:01] conclusion and your life is a struggle

[37:04] because your program will not get you to

[37:07] that destination 95 of the day playing

[37:09] that program

[37:11] it's not going to get you there and

[37:12] you're going to try to override the

[37:14] program i'm working hard i'm going to

[37:16] make it happen i go

[37:19] you're only controlling 5 of the day

[37:22] with that that conscious control

[37:25] mathematically it's not going to really

[37:26] work out very well and we struggle and

[37:29] you are there mark to help people let's

[37:31] get beyond the struggle

[37:33] let's get into creating what you wanted

[37:37] let's understand what love is all about

[37:40] love

[37:41] a lot of people just put it together oh

[37:42] it's like male female sex and all that i

[37:44] go no no love is being in harmony with

[37:47] your world

[37:48] does it have to uh do

[37:50] does it be like uh male and female i say

[37:53] no it could be male and male could be

[37:54] female and female it doesn't make any

[37:56] difference why biology

[37:58] it says that it's inconceivable that we

[38:02] are unattached to others and

[38:04] and in the world

[38:06] what's going on in the world is we're

[38:08] all seeking attachment does it have to

[38:10] be with the opposite sex i say no it

[38:12] doesn't have even have to be with a

[38:13] human i don't know

[38:16] you you could have a pet

[38:17] and be in love with your pet and talk to

[38:20] your pet all day that you can do that

[38:22] or it doesn't even have to be with a

[38:24] living thing

[38:25] if you love something that you do

[38:30] that puts you into the reference frame

[38:32] of being conscious of what you do when

[38:35] you're in love you're not playing the

[38:37] program

[38:38] when you're in love with something you

[38:40] were uh not not going to the past you're

[38:43] you're saying your conscious mind is

[38:45] staying right there

[38:47] when you're in love

[38:48] you stop thinking and you are then being

[38:52] you're active

[38:54] and this is the issues now that i opened

[38:56] up so many uh cans of worms here yeah

[38:59] you've got i've got a lot of algorithms

[39:01] to produce

[39:04] guide me now

[39:06] i mean gosh you dropped so many gems so

[39:10] first off 95 of what we do is

[39:13] unconscious you know it's like you said

[39:15] about the driving the car analogy i

[39:17] think of that often of like

[39:19] the moment i woke up to questioning why

[39:23] i did what i did or the outcomes i had

[39:25] was because i hit a relational low but i

[39:28] think that

[39:28] low can be any event in life that makes

[39:31] us sort of stop still and as you said be

[39:34] present stop thinking

[39:35] and start maybe being curious so i have

[39:38] a few questions one

[39:40] let's just start with one because i know

[39:42] you'll you'll probably riff and answer

[39:43] my other one which is

[39:47] what is

[39:48] what is often or how do we begin to tap

[39:51] into the unconscious

[39:53] and

[39:54] discover what these programs are

[39:57] and then

[39:58] [Music]

[39:59] i'm i'm curious two things one the the

[40:03] biological influence of fear-based or

[40:06] negative programs like biologically i

[40:08] understand that you can't receive what

[40:10] you don't believe is possible to exist

[40:13] so yeah maybe just riff on that and then

[40:15] we'll see where we go okay well let's

[40:17] start off with the most basic principle

[40:19] that people have no real knowledge of

[40:22] and it's the fundamental science of

[40:24] quantum physics i go what the hell does

[40:26] physics have to do with all this well

[40:28] physics is the fundamental signs of how

[40:30] the universe works so it becomes

[40:32] important for us to know the rules and

[40:34] most of us all have the rules of what is

[40:36] called newtonian or classical physics i

[40:38] go what's unique about that physics it

[40:41] divided the universe into a physical and

[40:43] an energetic realm and basically says

[40:45] whatever is physical affects the

[40:47] physical whatever's energy affects the

[40:49] energy and i go well then consciousness

[40:51] is energy and the body is physical so

[40:53] science has said well

[40:55] consciousness has nothing to do with all

[40:56] this

[40:57] well that's com you know completely

[40:59] wrong because quantum physics says

[41:01] everything is energy

[41:03] it's an illusion of matter very strange

[41:06] illusion of energy but what's relevant

[41:07] about is energy always influences energy

[41:10] so if your body is not physical but it's

[41:12] energy and your consciousness is energy

[41:14] then guess what your consciousness does

[41:16] affect your your body because then

[41:18] that's the quantum physics part so we're

[41:20] not separating mind and body uh

[41:23] newtonian separate mind and body physics

[41:26] body

[41:27] metaphysics mind and i go yeah but in

[41:31] quantum physics

[41:32] it's all one it's all energy so your

[41:35] mind

[41:36] and here's the principle

[41:37] from 1927 max planck

[41:41] the the one of the founding fathers of

[41:43] quantum physics 1927 states that the

[41:46] mind is the matrix of all matter i go

[41:51] well interesting matrix that's where the

[41:52] movie comes from the matrix the mind is

[41:55] the matrix of all matter what he meant

[41:58] is the mind is the creator of all matter

[42:02] okay

[42:03] and i go that's the fundamental

[42:04] principle in fact i i show my lectures

[42:07] from the the journal nature which

[42:09] happens to be the most prestigious

[42:11] scientific journal on this planet there

[42:13] was an article from a physicist from

[42:15] johns hopkins richard cohn henry

[42:18] and i say to the people you know you

[42:19] don't have to read the article why don't

[42:21] you just read the last sentence in this

[42:23] article i go what's the last sentence

[42:25] and

[42:26] remember

[42:27] quantum physics talks about the there's

[42:30] not a material existence okay it's

[42:32] energy so here's the last sentence ready

[42:35] the universe is

[42:37] immaterial

[42:39] it's mental and spiritual

[42:42] live and enjoy my god the found the most

[42:46] prestigious scientific journal

[42:49] has a conclusion in an article that it's

[42:51] all based on mind and spirituality which

[42:54] are energies okay

[42:56] uh

[42:57] and i said this

[42:59] this is profound i mean from 1927 to now

[43:02] physics still says your mind is creating

[43:05] this and then i go well if our mind's

[43:08] creating this and look at your world uh

[43:10] what are you creating and go goes not

[43:12] the world i want to create you know it's

[43:14] like

[43:15] if i want to create a world i want to

[43:16] create heaven on earth i go well look at

[43:18] this place how we're doing i say well

[43:20] between covid war

[43:22] pollution you know loss of species

[43:25] everything going wrong on this planet go

[43:27] this is not a great creation but if

[43:29] we're creating it why why are we

[43:32] creating this and then it goes back to

[43:34] what we talked about

[43:35] you are not creating your world except

[43:37] for five percent of the time when the

[43:40] conscience is working it otherwise 95 of

[43:43] your life is coming straight from the

[43:44] program downloaded from other people

[43:46] we're not creating what we want we're

[43:49] creating what the program said

[43:52] and this is the wake up call because it

[43:54] says well you know i said well how do

[43:56] you know your you know your what's your

[43:58] programs i said well look are you

[43:59] creating heaven do you wake up every day

[44:02] going oh my god i'm still here this is

[44:04] the most beautiful experience in the

[44:06] lifetime which i have been waking up for

[44:09] 25 years with my partner margaret from a

[44:12] guy who couldn't get a relationship off

[44:14] the ground why

[44:16] previous

[44:17] my relationships were unconscious

[44:19] because my subconscious playing my

[44:20] father's behavior failure okay

[44:24] consciousness stepped in and said well

[44:26] wait what are my programs i say well

[44:27] trying to find a relationship doesn't

[44:28] work so i surely got a bad program and i

[44:32] i said well then we need to change the

[44:33] program and all of a sudden mark this is

[44:36] you know your whole effort to help

[44:38] people over you know change it

[44:41] and this is why i emphasized before the

[44:43] two minds learn in different ways

[44:46] the conscious mind is creative

[44:48] listen to this podcast go uh have a

[44:51] lecture go read a self-help book i go

[44:54] you know how many people read self-help

[44:55] books and i say how many of you all read

[44:57] self-help books and everybody hand goes

[44:58] up and i say and how many of you after

[45:01] reading that book your life changed and

[45:02] all the hands come back down again

[45:05] i go well you read the book i said yeah

[45:07] and guess what if i gave you a quiz on

[45:09] what the contents of that book are you

[45:11] would get a hundred

[45:13] but i say then how come you're smart

[45:15] enough to know what the book is but your

[45:17] life didn't change and the answer was

[45:19] reading a book

[45:21] enhances the conscious mind

[45:24] that's it's creative i could read the

[45:25] book and just learn okay

[45:27] but the subconscious mind doesn't learn

[45:29] that way i go oh

[45:31] so reading the book was very helpful to

[45:32] educate me but it had no effect on

[45:35] changing my program i got no because it

[45:36] doesn't change subconscious

[45:38] subconscious is the habit mine i go so

[45:42] what's the significance

[45:43] if you have a habit you don't want it to

[45:45] change because if it's a good habit i

[45:48] say give you an example because a lot of

[45:49] people think oh the subconscious

[45:51] programs that's where the evil comes

[45:53] from and i go

[45:55] the subconscious is a hard drive

[45:57] it's not evil it's a hard drive the

[46:00] programs you downloaded well they could

[46:03] be evil or they could be good and i go

[46:05] well i give you the good one i say when

[46:06] did you learn how to walk before you

[46:08] were two i said how long can you use

[46:10] that program because once you learned

[46:12] you don't have to think about walking

[46:14] you never even put that into context and

[46:16] something's over there you just i'm

[46:18] walking over there you don't say i'm

[46:19] walking i'm there i say the mind will do

[46:22] all the walking it's a program you don't

[46:24] have to think about it subconscious i go

[46:27] cool the subconscious mind is the

[46:30] program mind but then comes the point if

[46:33] you have a program you don't want to

[46:34] wake up one day and go i forgot how to

[46:37] walk

[46:38] well you're in problem why because now

[46:40] guess what you have to start learning

[46:41] how to walk again

[46:43] so habits do not want to change when did

[46:45] we get these habits

[46:47] these fundamental habits were down the

[46:49] fundamental ones were downloaded before

[46:51] age seven i said but they don't want to

[46:52] change i go well

[46:55] guess what you put the habit in there

[46:58] so there must be a way of putting a

[47:00] habit in there and if you know how to

[47:02] put a habit in there then you can

[47:04] rewrite the habit

[47:06] i say

[47:07] okay the habit mind doesn't learn just

[47:10] changing your habit just because you

[47:11] heard something because that would not

[47:13] be a habit it would be just changing all

[47:15] the time

[47:16] it resists change i say well then how

[47:18] did you put a damn habit in there in the

[47:20] first place

[47:21] i go well in the first seven years of

[47:24] your life you weren't at the level of

[47:26] consciousness alpha and beta vibration

[47:29] in the brain you were at a lower

[47:30] vibration theta theta is just when you

[47:33] fall asleep when the conscious mind just

[47:35] closed the eyes it's gone the brain is

[47:38] in theta for a short period of time well

[47:41] you were in theta for seven years but

[47:43] after age seven

[47:45] you don't maintain that status really

[47:47] anymore but every night

[47:49] when you come home and you start to

[47:51] relax the vibrations from work beta slow

[47:54] down to alpha that's calm consciousness

[47:57] and just as you're going to sleep alpha

[48:00] shuts off and now you're in theta for a

[48:03] short period of time before you go into

[48:04] deep sleep delta so i say every night

[48:08] when you go to bed there's a short

[48:10] period of time

[48:12] when your consciousness disconnects and

[48:13] you're asleep that theta is working so

[48:17] if you put earphones on

[48:20] and play a program through there of

[48:22] something you want to be true in your

[48:23] life a self-help program

[48:26] then at night uh

[48:29] after your your conscious mind starts to

[48:31] shut off whatever's playing through

[48:32] those earphones it's not going into the

[48:35] conscious minds going into the

[48:36] subconscious mind and by repetition and

[48:39] the reason why you need some repetition

[48:40] there because it's only a short theta

[48:42] period before you go in a delta sleep

[48:45] this is called self-hypnosis

[48:47] maybe you remember old days no maybe you

[48:49] don't you guys are young i remember old

[48:51] days when a hypnotherapist and they'd

[48:53] have a watch pendulum you know on a

[48:56] picture i remember from like movies and

[48:57] stuff and they said they swing to watch

[48:59] what were they telling people you're

[49:01] getting tired you're getting sleepy and

[49:04] i go what's the relevance of that and

[49:06] the answer is profoundly simple it says

[49:08] if i'm tired and sleepy i'm lowering the

[49:10] vibration down to theta once i'm in

[49:12] theta the hypnotherapist can say what

[49:15] they want it's not going into the

[49:17] conscious mind it's now going straight

[49:19] into the subconscious program so the

[49:21] issue of that is that this is what we

[49:23] have to work on is recognizing

[49:26] how do i put the programs in i say you

[49:28] have to be in theta and that's every

[49:30] night

[49:30] you are in theta for a short period of

[49:32] time so you put the earphones on go to

[49:34] sleep while you're awake and still

[49:36] conscious you'll hear what's coming

[49:37] through the the program

[49:39] but the moment you fall asleep the

[49:41] program is not picked up by the

[49:43] conscious minds going into the

[49:44] subconscious mind so you can reprogram

[49:47] the subconscious mind with what you want

[49:50] with self-hypnosis every night put the

[49:52] earphones on okay

[49:54] i go well that's how the subconscious

[49:56] mind learned habits for the first seven

[49:58] years but you learn things after you

[50:00] were age seven you learn how to drive a

[50:02] car you learn how to play an instrument

[50:04] you learn different things i said well

[50:06] how did you learn a new program after

[50:08] age seven and the second way of learning

[50:10] the first wave is hypnosis

[50:13] the second way of learning is practice

[50:16] repetition

[50:18] in other words habituation

[50:20] practice something repeat it repeat it

[50:23] repeat it and guess what now it's

[50:25] downloaded that's how you learned how to

[50:27] you you got in a car uh you know if you

[50:30] didn't practice i don't want to drive

[50:32] with you i need you to practice so you

[50:34] know how to drive then i'll get in the

[50:36] car with you uh

[50:38] the the basic part is it's the practice

[50:40] that puts in the new program

[50:42] okay

[50:43] and so this this is very really what we

[50:46] what we have to understand is i can add

[50:48] a program by habituation uh there's a

[50:52] new age phraseology which everyone

[50:54] laughs at but it's actually

[50:55] fundamentally true

[50:57] fake it till you make it i go what does

[51:01] that mean i say well

[51:02] if you're an unhappy person and every

[51:04] day you wake up in three of the days

[51:05] like i'm not happy i'm not happy i say

[51:08] you want to be happy then all day long

[51:10] whenever you can remember you go i am

[51:12] happy

[51:13] i am happy right in the middle of

[51:14] unhappy i don't care what's going on

[51:17] it's the repetition i am happy

[51:20] repeated and repeat it and repeat it

[51:23] that's how you make a habit one day you

[51:25] wake up and guess what you're happy

[51:27] without even having to repeat it because

[51:28] now the program is in

[51:30] so that's the second way first way

[51:32] self-hypnosis earphones nighttime

[51:34] program

[51:35] uh the that's first second way was

[51:38] habituation repetition practice okay

[51:42] a little insight about how you can

[51:44] change your life how

[51:46] profoundly

[51:47] powerful you are in changing your life

[51:49] actors

[51:51] let's say uh renee zellwagger

[51:54] she she played bridget jones in the

[51:56] diary thing there

[51:58] bridget jones character is 40 pounds

[52:00] heavier than she is what did she do she

[52:02] got into character and became

[52:05] consciously

[52:07] playing that role in her head

[52:09] guess what she gained 40 pounds

[52:12] played the role

[52:14] after the movie

[52:15] character gone

[52:17] and her weight returned back to the

[52:19] normal rate again

[52:23] one of the fine

[52:24] black actors was playing

[52:27] a boxer hurricane boxer

[52:30] and we know this character and uh it's

[52:33] interesting because he's not he has a

[52:35] slight frame and everything but he takes

[52:37] on this uh boxer

[52:40] in his consciousness you see him in the

[52:42] movie the man's buffed man he's got the

[52:44] muscles and where the hell did that come

[52:46] from

[52:47] he put in the picture i am the boxer and

[52:51] then his consciousness translated that

[52:53] into his biology

[52:55] okay

[52:56] sometimes doesn't work out so good uh

[52:57] for example uh

[52:59] dustin hoffman played willie lohman a

[53:01] very uh a neurologically upset

[53:04] depressive character in the iceman

[53:06] cometh he played it on broadway and he

[53:08] dustin hoffman's a brilliant actor

[53:10] yeah point is he took on willie lowman's

[53:14] neurological issue became so depressed

[53:16] that while the show was running he ended

[53:18] up having to go to a neurological

[53:20] hospital because the depression overtook

[53:23] his life by playing it

[53:25] there's a little a little simple story

[53:27] right here

[53:28] who do you want to be

[53:30] play the become the actor play that

[53:33] actor put that here's who i am i guess

[53:36] what when there's a good actor their

[53:38] physiology corresponds exactly to the

[53:41] consciousness

[53:43] of the role they are playing

[53:45] you don't like your life change your

[53:46] role play a different i'm a different

[53:48] person i don't play here i am bruce the

[53:50] actor

[53:52] i'm a great actor okay i'm gonna act and

[53:54] then that's it so um that that's you

[53:57] know the way of changing it changing the

[53:59] consciousness of who we are

[54:02] and the last way of changing because

[54:04] it's most important for me because it's

[54:06] the fastest those two other ones take

[54:08] time repetition you know put the program

[54:11] on every night takes time but there's

[54:13] something called energy psychology a new

[54:16] version of new modality of psychology

[54:18] it's not the conventional psychology

[54:21] it enhances or engages something called

[54:24] super learning

[54:25] and with super learning the mind is open

[54:27] to rapid downloads of stuff in a super

[54:30] learning moment so you can change a

[54:33] belief that you've had your whole life

[54:36] 15 minutes

[54:37] 20 minutes give it some of that that

[54:40] sounds perfect well it works and there's

[54:42] about 25 different modalities that are

[54:44] on my website under my website under

[54:46] resources there's 25 different versions

[54:49] i use the one called psi k but there's

[54:51] so many other ones and so i give a

[54:53] listing a short paragraph and a website

[54:56] so you can say oh that's a good one i'd

[54:57] like to try this one go ahead why

[55:01] necessity is the mother of invention

[55:03] human behavior is causing our own

[55:05] extinction at this moment the world is

[55:08] in chaos not because of all the little

[55:09] details going on in chaos because we're

[55:11] not sustainable as a civilization

[55:14] and we have to as human behavior oh well

[55:17] then what do we have to change human

[55:18] behavior i go is it going to take weeks

[55:20] and weeks to find a new behavior

[55:22] no

[55:23] mother of invention energy psychology

[55:25] says i can rewrite those programs in in

[55:27] minutes and i said well

[55:30] uh i wouldn't be here talking to you if

[55:33] that uh understanding in my application

[55:36] of that i i brought it into my life and

[55:39] my life is i wrote a book called the

[55:40] honeymoon effect here's a guy who

[55:42] couldn't get a relationship off the

[55:43] ground for 40 plus years and then he

[55:45] writes a book called the honeymoon

[55:46] effect

[55:47] yeah guess what i'm still on it and it's

[55:50] 25 years and i'm still waking up every

[55:53] day and i'm still having a honeymoon

[55:55] every day after 25 years

[55:58] and so uh does it work

[56:01] well

[56:02] at least for 25 years has worked but i

[56:04] don't think it's ending today so i think

[56:06] it's a lifetime change and your efforts

[56:09] are to bring people into this and so

[56:11] thank you for letting me

[56:13] uh talk to your community so i hope that

[56:15] they can engage with you to let's do

[56:17] something active now instead of hey

[56:20] bruce just enhanced my conscious mind i

[56:22] go that's nice but until you change that

[56:24] subconscious program you're still the

[56:26] same person that you are

[56:28] and mark's job as i see it is to

[56:31] facilitate your change so i said visit

[56:35] that guy mark he's on the screen next to

[56:36] me

[56:38] i like that well it makes me consider i

[56:41] mean so many things one the

[56:44] reliving of the honeymoon over and over

[56:46] and over again is obviously

[56:48] you know i think we often long for that

[56:50] state rather than living it much like

[56:53] what we were saying at the beginning of

[56:54] the podcast about living in heaven on

[56:56] earth rather than

[56:58] waking up every day with this sort of

[57:00] doom and gloom which you know i

[57:03] have a couple questions one

[57:06] based on the stuff we're consuming

[57:08] passively news all that kind of stuff i

[57:10] would imagine that that is constant

[57:12] because there's so much habitual stuff

[57:14] right like we might even be falling

[57:16] asleep to the news and you're like oh

[57:18] wait that's in that moment you're

[57:20] talking about and then

[57:21] the second part of that is

[57:24] why is it so hard

[57:27] then knowing like what you're saying

[57:28] like oh ultimately i want to create a

[57:30] belief that i love myself or i want to

[57:32] create the honeymoon experience i want

[57:34] to change what i learned from my dad or

[57:35] my mom or society about relationship and

[57:38] i want to actually cultivate a loving

[57:39] relationship

[57:41] uh

[57:42] why is it so hard to let go of the

[57:45] belief even though i know i'm stepping

[57:47] into the potentiality of heaven on earth

[57:50] or the honeymoon effect so

[57:52] one like how is what we're consuming

[57:55] influencing that and then two

[57:58] uh why is it so terrifying to know that

[58:00] you're gonna actually create

[58:02] like that to me is such a

[58:04] mind-blowing

[58:06] thing that doesn't make sense is like

[58:09] we'd rather be certain and in pain

[58:11] sometimes

[58:14] we're playing programs we're we're

[58:16] playing programs but we are unaware of

[58:19] the program if you're unaware of the

[58:21] program then here's how it works

[58:23] i wake up in the morning and say today's

[58:24] the day i'm going to get healthy today

[58:26] i'm going to find love out there too and

[58:28] you get all excited and you go to the

[58:30] day and you come home at night and go

[58:32] well it didn't work today and i said why

[58:34] didn't it work and i said well

[58:36] i wanted to be successful so it's not me

[58:39] must be them

[58:41] and then

[58:42] we have switched

[58:44] what we have become as victims

[58:46] because we didn't see any participation

[58:49] from our end because our participation

[58:52] was invisible

[58:53] so it wasn't me that caused the problem

[58:56] it was that person and that thing and

[58:58] that entity and all that and then all of

[59:00] a sudden i'm a victim of those things

[59:01] that are controlling me and i go you

[59:04] didn't see 95 of the day you were

[59:06] creating it and that was the response

[59:08] and so if you can't see it which the

[59:10] average person cannot see anything we

[59:12] just talked about

[59:14] then everyone wakes up today as i'm a

[59:16] victim of the world because not exactly

[59:18] what i want

[59:19] and therefore

[59:21] geez poor me i can't get this you know

[59:24] and those people are interfering and

[59:25] everybody it's not me

[59:28] i go

[59:29] as quantum physics rule number one

[59:32] consciousness is creating your life

[59:34] experience you have to own this

[59:37] because if you owned it then you could

[59:38] say well then if i'm doing it then i'm

[59:40] the one

[59:42] that can fix it

[59:43] but if they're doing it i can't fix them

[59:46] so most people have no idea that they're

[59:48] involved they're just looking at the

[59:50] world these people are not helping me

[59:52] i go no no they were following what your

[59:55] program was going and you didn't see it

[59:58] and that is the hardest part for the

[1:00:00] whole game

[1:00:01] you do the average person outside what

[1:00:03] we just talked about has no idea

[1:00:07] that they're not controlling their life

[1:00:09] with their wishes and desires and that

[1:00:11] the failure to obtain them is not them

[1:00:14] but it's the other people that's the

[1:00:16] conventional belief and if that happens

[1:00:18] then the the issue is i'm not going to

[1:00:21] be empowered because i'm giving the

[1:00:23] power still to the other people and it's

[1:00:25] like no you are powerful and this is why

[1:00:29] your program is an important part of the

[1:00:31] evolution of civilization

[1:00:33] and i go why we have to get out of the

[1:00:36] program that's been put upon us that

[1:00:40] made us victims

[1:00:41] powerless

[1:00:43] in a world you go but look at all those

[1:00:45] powerful people out there how did they

[1:00:47] get so powerful and i go

[1:00:49] they didn't get so powerful they took

[1:00:52] away your power

[1:00:53] now they have the power

[1:00:55] and that that's it it's control the game

[1:00:58] is controlled

[1:01:00] and it's time to uh

[1:01:02] recognize how the game works so you can

[1:01:04] get back into your control i did this

[1:01:07] with my life and it all started with

[1:01:10] those cells 50 years ago that showed me

[1:01:12] jesus my consciousness is creating this

[1:01:15] if i'm going to change something i don't

[1:01:17] have to change the genetics

[1:01:19] i have to just change the consciousness

[1:01:21] and that led me on this path to

[1:01:24] ultimately uh you know reprogramming my

[1:01:27] subconscious mind to do what get rid of

[1:01:30] or replace

[1:01:32] the disempowering programs with

[1:01:34] empowering ones and i go here's the

[1:01:36] benefit here's the benefit of it once

[1:01:39] the new program is in

[1:01:41] you don't have to even make any effort

[1:01:43] why you haven't made any effort to get

[1:01:45] where you are right now

[1:01:47] it's your subconscious been doing it all

[1:01:49] the time so i said well what if you put

[1:01:50] only good stuff in your subconscious i

[1:01:51] go well then without any effort you will

[1:01:53] have all the good things that you were

[1:01:55] looking for health and happiness and

[1:01:57] relationships and stuff like that

[1:01:59] and that's the destination

[1:02:02] because you've got to get out of i'm a

[1:02:04] victim everyone thinks they're a victim

[1:02:06] i go well what does victim mean

[1:02:08] powerless and so if i'm i'm telling you

[1:02:10] i'm powerless and what do you think is

[1:02:12] going to happen and as you went like

[1:02:13] that before nan's resist i'll sell you

[1:02:16] some power

[1:02:17] i'll be the pharmaceutical you want some

[1:02:19] power i'll sell you this drug

[1:02:20] okay i'm this guy i'll sell you that

[1:02:23] you'll get more power more power what

[1:02:25] did they do they made us into consumers

[1:02:27] why well i can't do it i'm the victim

[1:02:30] but they can get it for me how much do i

[1:02:32] pay them i say well

[1:02:34] hey religion was based on all this stuff

[1:02:36] yeah how much does it cost me not to go

[1:02:39] to hell well

[1:02:41] ten percent of your salary was tithing

[1:02:44] i go for what they're going to protect

[1:02:46] me from going to hell uh you know the

[1:02:48] the

[1:02:50] people they go

[1:02:51] why am i paying them ten percent

[1:02:54] i can i could create my own heaven

[1:02:57] which i did and all of a sudden it says

[1:02:59] stop disempowering me that is the

[1:03:02] message who's the go-to it goes to the

[1:03:06] medical community that you disempower me

[1:03:08] by telling me

[1:03:10] what my future is going to be and i buy

[1:03:12] into the belief in that first seven

[1:03:13] years that you control my health i don't

[1:03:16] control my health i'd go to the doctor

[1:03:18] and my program is doctor knows about my

[1:03:21] health i don't the doctor says you're

[1:03:24] going to die in three months then guess

[1:03:26] what

[1:03:27] you just put in your brain a program

[1:03:31] of in three months i will be dead and

[1:03:34] you will i say will you die of the

[1:03:36] cancer they said you had and i go nope

[1:03:39] you can you die from the belief of the

[1:03:40] three months because when i started

[1:03:42] doing autopsies on people that we know

[1:03:44] they were going to die in three months

[1:03:46] of this cancer and they started finding

[1:03:48] they didn't die from the cancer

[1:03:50] would they die from

[1:03:51] the belief belief controls your life if

[1:03:55] you believe you're gonna die you can die

[1:03:56] just from the belief

[1:03:59] tells you like how much

[1:04:01] what just tells you how much like

[1:04:02] constantly being in terror constantly

[1:04:04] being in fear constantly being like if

[1:04:07] you're afraid you're always gonna catch

[1:04:09] right

[1:04:10] they put the button into your system in

[1:04:11] the first seven years and the rest of

[1:04:13] your life they wanted you to jump they

[1:04:14] just push the button push the button

[1:04:15] you'll jump you'll jump you'll jump and

[1:04:18] that's how they control us

[1:04:20] and the fact is well if we're all

[1:04:21] creators then how come i have to jump to

[1:04:24] your button and the answers because the

[1:04:26] program that got me off the ground

[1:04:29] was

[1:04:30] you're the powerful one and i'm not

[1:04:32] and all of a sudden and then i'm not

[1:04:34] powerful you know there's a famous book

[1:04:36] rich dad poor dad basically yeah

[1:04:39] establishing everything i just said

[1:04:41] if you come from a family where the

[1:04:43] first seven years is you're in the rich

[1:04:45] family

[1:04:46] then you're gonna be rich because

[1:04:47] unconsciously you will be doing those

[1:04:49] things that brought that richness into

[1:04:52] your family in contrast you grow up in a

[1:04:54] poor family and the effort of trying to

[1:04:57] get out of poverty you can't do it you

[1:04:59] can't do it well that's a program so

[1:05:01] guess what kids from rich families grow

[1:05:04] up rich even if they're stupid you know

[1:05:07] i won't say any

[1:05:08] past president about that or not but um

[1:05:13] a person doesn't have to be intelligent

[1:05:14] they're running on a program to stay

[1:05:16] rich okay not in consciousness okay but

[1:05:19] more importantly most of us have been

[1:05:21] programmed to be poor people poor in

[1:05:23] money poor in status poor and

[1:05:26] life functions why

[1:05:29] because this is a program to disempower

[1:05:31] us to make us consumers

[1:05:33] to buy

[1:05:34] whatever the pharmaceutical company

[1:05:36] wants to sell me whatever the drug

[1:05:38] people whatever the religion wants to

[1:05:40] sell me out it's like oh okay

[1:05:42] i'll do what you said it's like

[1:05:44] you don't need any of that you just

[1:05:47] you needed that because they knew about

[1:05:50] the program

[1:05:51] okay

[1:05:52] but if you know about the program then

[1:05:54] the first thing is this you don't have

[1:05:56] to be involved anymore doing that

[1:05:58] it's interesting to write my own

[1:06:01] well you almost have to when you start

[1:06:03] to do what you're saying which is

[1:06:05] recognize your participation in the

[1:06:07] system that you've just always been part

[1:06:09] of and if you observe your parents and

[1:06:11] your religion and your culture

[1:06:13] we're all participating like that's the

[1:06:16] normal and so if your normal

[1:06:18] relationships are not

[1:06:19] loving empathic kind respectful thriving

[1:06:23] then it is abnormal to begin to take a

[1:06:27] pause before you respond it's abnormal

[1:06:30] to be kind and respectful and to believe

[1:06:32] that

[1:06:32] the honeymoon is possible like

[1:06:35] it's amazing because what you're saying

[1:06:36] is as soon as you unplug from one

[1:06:39] then now you're like well

[1:06:41] i don't need this addiction anymore

[1:06:43] because that addiction was treating my

[1:06:45] disconnection from heaven on earth from

[1:06:47] the from the participation that's the

[1:06:50] pain that's created when you participate

[1:06:51] in a program that is inherently painful

[1:06:54] yeah yeah you know the the a big

[1:06:57] conclusion of everything we're talking

[1:06:58] about here is the movie of the matrix

[1:07:01] remember that came from max planck the

[1:07:03] mind is the matrix of all matter uh

[1:07:06] guess what the point of the movie was

[1:07:07] we're all programmed that was the point

[1:07:09] i said yeah but that's true we are all

[1:07:11] programmed it's not science fiction

[1:07:12] documentary and i uh and then when they

[1:07:16] took the red pill

[1:07:18] they got out of the program and their

[1:07:20] all of a sudden they had a whole

[1:07:21] different thing going on

[1:07:23] so let me tell people that that movie is

[1:07:26] a documentary that most of you out there

[1:07:29] have taken that red pill i say what is

[1:07:31] the red pill

[1:07:33] you fall in love i go yeah but why is

[1:07:35] that the red pill you ready

[1:07:36] because when people fall in love they

[1:07:38] stop thinking

[1:07:40] they stay mindful meaning i've been

[1:07:42] looking for this partner for 40 years

[1:07:44] and she or he shows up

[1:07:47] and and the idea is this

[1:07:49] i've waited for them to be here why

[1:07:50] would i spend my time thinking which

[1:07:52] means i'm not here

[1:07:54] i don't want to think i want to be here

[1:07:56] because of this excitement and i go when

[1:07:59] people fall in love the honeymoon

[1:08:01] their life is blah blah blah blah blah

[1:08:03] they fall in love 24 hours later it's

[1:08:05] like oh man life's beautiful

[1:08:08] the food's great the muse is great man i

[1:08:11] got so much energy

[1:08:14] for days we didn't even sleep we were so

[1:08:16] energized and everything i go

[1:08:18] that's called the honeymoon the

[1:08:19] honeymoon is an experience of heaven on

[1:08:22] earth i go

[1:08:23] how did that happen after a life of blah

[1:08:25] blah blah and the answer was because

[1:08:27] blah blah blah

[1:08:28] you you were thinking

[1:08:31] and as a result the subconscious was

[1:08:33] controlling you fall in love you stop

[1:08:36] thinking you stay mindful so i'm not

[1:08:38] defaulting to the subconscious well if i

[1:08:41] stay mindful then which which mind is

[1:08:43] controlling me not the subconscious

[1:08:45] that's the program one

[1:08:47] the creative one i go yeah that's

[1:08:49] exactly what the honeymoon was about you

[1:08:51] stopped playing a damn program started

[1:08:53] creating what you want and then okay

[1:08:57] for most people that honeymoon doesn't

[1:08:58] last for a long time i go why not and

[1:09:00] the answer is

[1:09:01] because during the honeymoon you didn't

[1:09:03] play any of the negative programs that

[1:09:05] you downloaded from your growing up

[1:09:07] period your partner never saw a negative

[1:09:09] side of you because you never played

[1:09:10] anything negative you played wishes and

[1:09:13] desires you played heaven on earth and

[1:09:15] we're experiencing heaven on earth but

[1:09:18] the moment you start thinking

[1:09:21] you will automatically bring to the

[1:09:23] forefront the bad programs that never

[1:09:25] were part of the relationship during the

[1:09:27] honeymoon

[1:09:28] there's two minds the conscious mind

[1:09:30] creative creative two people come

[1:09:32] together that's creative that's heaven

[1:09:34] on earth

[1:09:35] but when you start thinking all of a

[1:09:37] sudden the subconscious comes in with

[1:09:38] its program

[1:09:40] it's not a program that brought you to

[1:09:42] there as a matter of fact a program that

[1:09:44] could have limited you from being there

[1:09:46] and you start playing behaviors that

[1:09:48] your partner goes off who are who are

[1:09:51] you where where did that come from and

[1:09:53] that's the story of bill

[1:09:55] like you didn't hear what you just said

[1:09:57] upset the situation why you said it

[1:09:59] because it came from the subconscious

[1:10:02] again you didn't see or hear what you

[1:10:04] said but the other person responds your

[1:10:06] partner goes oh my god what what's you

[1:10:08] know this is not a great thing and then

[1:10:10] relationships go from honeymoon to sort

[1:10:12] of back to everyday life for a lot of

[1:10:14] people but the juiciness of the

[1:10:16] honeymoon

[1:10:18] is what total creation

[1:10:20] you were creating that

[1:10:23] and if you understood that it was the

[1:10:25] subconscious programs that take you back

[1:10:27] out then you're left with a simple thing

[1:10:29] rewrite the damn subconscious program

[1:10:31] because if you do

[1:10:32] then heaven on earth is 24 7 365.

[1:10:36] thinking not thinking you're still going

[1:10:38] in the same place and you could then be

[1:10:41] thinking 95 percent of the day and yet

[1:10:42] your automatic behavior when you got the

[1:10:44] program right will encourage that love

[1:10:47] to be there without you even thinking

[1:10:49] about it

[1:10:50] that's the coolest part it's not work

[1:10:52] every day i have to work on this

[1:10:53] relationship you put the program in

[1:10:55] there the work is over it's automatic at

[1:10:57] that point so interesting because you

[1:10:59] said before you didn't have to put any

[1:11:01] work into creating the life you

[1:11:03] currently have so if you just do the

[1:11:05] transformational part of changing your

[1:11:07] belief the same ease will come because

[1:11:09] you'll naturally from you said from the

[1:11:11] quantum physics perspective too it's

[1:11:13] like described on all these layers

[1:11:15] you'll naturally

[1:11:16] just start to participate in those

[1:11:18] things because you believe you're worthy

[1:11:19] of that you believe like you said rich

[1:11:21] dad poor dad

[1:11:23] um

[1:11:23] how do you participate in the world

[1:11:27] like what are your habits like when news

[1:11:30] is presented or things like that so that

[1:11:32] you can maintain this honeymoon

[1:11:35] experience not with just your partner

[1:11:37] and i'd love to hear that part but also

[1:11:39] with the world in general

[1:11:41] well the first thing is this and this is

[1:11:44] the issue out eta eight to nine people

[1:11:46] out of ten

[1:11:48] do not love themselves that means they

[1:11:50] won't honor their own selves if i don't

[1:11:52] love myself why should i honor myself i

[1:11:54] know you don't deserve it but oh me i

[1:11:56] don't deserve it that's what my mind

[1:11:58] said and i will not honor myself so the

[1:12:01] first thing is this if you just change

[1:12:03] the main fact is if i love myself then

[1:12:06] immediately how you're going to respond

[1:12:07] to other people it's going to be a whole

[1:12:09] different

[1:12:09] game of response at that point that's

[1:12:12] number one you got to do that like i

[1:12:14] suggest that's the first thing if i want

[1:12:16] to change something first thing i want

[1:12:17] to change is

[1:12:18] i want to be able to honestly look in

[1:12:20] the mirror and say i love myself because

[1:12:22] if i can say that then i'm open

[1:12:25] for love it doesn't have to be with just

[1:12:27] my partner i go no ever love is harmony

[1:12:31] okay i go so love isn't just between two

[1:12:34] people love hey i love my job hey why i

[1:12:36] have harmony in my job oh i love the

[1:12:38] community i live in why because i feel

[1:12:40] happy in this so love

[1:12:42] is not just between these two love is i

[1:12:45] wake up in love why

[1:12:47] because the fear programs that were put

[1:12:50] into me i've had the opportunity to look

[1:12:53] at those programs in my life and say i

[1:12:54] don't want this

[1:12:55] and if i don't want i want to change it

[1:12:57] and

[1:12:58] for me i started with self-hypnosis as

[1:13:01] the first way of doing it it works okay

[1:13:03] no problem but it's a time period

[1:13:06] and i go but once i got to energy

[1:13:08] psychology it's like oh

[1:13:09] i could change that belief in 15 minutes

[1:13:11] and walk away go whoa

[1:13:13] i like this yeah it works so uh yeah the

[1:13:17] so the idea is from here where do we go

[1:13:20] and the answer is this

[1:13:22] look at your life and recognize where

[1:13:24] the limitations are that the limitations

[1:13:26] did not come from the outside the

[1:13:28] limitations came from programs on the

[1:13:29] inside and if there's a limitation on

[1:13:32] the inside then i could do self-hypnosis

[1:13:36] i could do habituation i could do energy

[1:13:38] psychology and rewrite them and the

[1:13:40] beautiful part about it it doesn't even

[1:13:42] take a lot of effort i mean especially

[1:13:44] hey self-hypnosis go to sleep

[1:13:47] it'll happen when you're sleeping that's

[1:13:48] how much work goes into it you know

[1:13:51] energy psychology is like well how long

[1:13:52] do i have to work on that about five ten

[1:13:54] minutes and then

[1:13:55] okay i can do that one you know uh but

[1:13:58] but the issue is this

[1:14:01] we are the ones that have to own

[1:14:04] that our life is not an accident that we

[1:14:07] are creators

[1:14:09] quantum physics has been saying that

[1:14:10] since 1927. the new science i saw with

[1:14:14] the stem cells and the culture also said

[1:14:16] that because it said my mind is creating

[1:14:19] my genetics and behavior my

[1:14:21] consciousness i go that's what quantum

[1:14:23] physics was saying too i go yeah in

[1:14:25] biology it controls my genetics and my

[1:14:28] behavior epigenetics so it's like okay

[1:14:30] biology and physics now agree on this

[1:14:33] particular point

[1:14:35] and yet the public has no idea that

[1:14:38] they're even playing the damn programs

[1:14:41] they they they have in their belief says

[1:14:43] yeah i'm creating this but if it's not

[1:14:45] working

[1:14:47] that didn't come from me it must came

[1:14:48] from those other people and then that's

[1:14:51] like

[1:14:52] the first step of disempowerment why

[1:14:55] well if you're going to blame it on the

[1:14:56] other people then you're never going to

[1:14:57] take responsibility and do it for

[1:14:58] yourself

[1:15:00] and the point is you have to be

[1:15:03] responsible for yourself the word

[1:15:06] responsible is met not with cheers but

[1:15:08] with groans oh no responsible i go yeah

[1:15:12] well unfortunately um you you want to

[1:15:14] take charge of your life then you have

[1:15:16] to own your life

[1:15:17] that's the game

[1:15:19] that's beautiful that's the invitation

[1:15:21] to liberation you know

[1:15:22] like you said it's met with groans but

[1:15:24] it actually your soul meets it with

[1:15:27] finally finally finally instead of

[1:15:30] running we're running from it we're

[1:15:31] running towards something absolutely

[1:15:34] that's the greatest part of it because

[1:15:35] once a program is in there's no effort

[1:15:37] on your part the program runs by itself

[1:15:40] 95 percent of the day it's been doing it

[1:15:42] your whole life well except the first

[1:15:44] seven uh you've been running it

[1:15:46] completely on the program and i say how

[1:15:48] much effort did you put into that and

[1:15:49] it's like well truthfully none there you

[1:15:52] go well guess what if you put a good

[1:15:55] program in there then truthfully you

[1:15:56] don't have to do anything either the

[1:15:57] good program will automatically get you

[1:15:59] what you want because

[1:16:01] your program is getting you what you

[1:16:03] want if it's not the heaven on earth

[1:16:05] then we don't change the earth we change

[1:16:07] the program that's what has to happen

[1:16:11] when you weren't born yet we had hippies

[1:16:13] around here mark and

[1:16:14] uh

[1:16:15] and those hippies there was a phrase

[1:16:17] that's so important at this moment and

[1:16:18] that phrase says

[1:16:20] before you go out and save the world

[1:16:22] take care of your own backyard

[1:16:25] and that's the point before we go out

[1:16:27] and try to change the world and fix it

[1:16:28] the way we want it first fix yourself

[1:16:30] and then the world will change

[1:16:31] automatically to become that

[1:16:35] become the change you wish to see in the

[1:16:36] world oh gandhi guy there you go there

[1:16:39] we go um okay this has been

[1:16:42] beautiful mind-blowing all the things

[1:16:45] uh i feel like uh since the first moment

[1:16:48] of reading your work i just feel like i

[1:16:50] need to pinch myself and happy i had a

[1:16:53] program in here like one day dr bruce

[1:16:55] lipton and i are gonna jam and here it

[1:16:58] is and i wish well i i

[1:17:00] have to tell you how much i deeply

[1:17:02] appreciate the invitation mark because

[1:17:04] it's not i'm not just talking to you

[1:17:05] there's an audience out there and any

[1:17:08] one of those people that decides oh wait

[1:17:10] maybe i can do this

[1:17:12] becomes another person that's going to

[1:17:14] take their power back and the more

[1:17:15] people that take their power back the

[1:17:17] more other people want that power uh i i

[1:17:20] close with this because i always i laugh

[1:17:22] so much about it it was the movie when

[1:17:24] harry met sally and they're in a diner

[1:17:27] and

[1:17:28] sally was uh you know demonstrating an

[1:17:31] orgasm and loud and everybody in the

[1:17:34] restaurant is looking at her and the

[1:17:36] waiter is over at a table and says well

[1:17:38] what do you want and the woman says i

[1:17:40] want what she has

[1:17:43] and i go yes

[1:17:45] i want what those people have that are

[1:17:48] so happy

[1:17:50] that every day

[1:17:51] that happiness brings health you know

[1:17:53] it's unhappiness that where the disease

[1:17:55] is coming from not from genes

[1:17:58] and happiness is our destination

[1:18:00] but if you are invisibly playing a

[1:18:03] program that means you are the victim of

[1:18:05] your program that you don't even see the

[1:18:07] damn program

[1:18:08] but you do see the outcome of the

[1:18:10] program and that's when you start you

[1:18:12] should be then alerted to the wake-up

[1:18:15] call is

[1:18:16] my life is my program and if i don't

[1:18:19] like this

[1:18:21] i'm not going to go out and change the

[1:18:22] life

[1:18:23] i first have to go in and change the

[1:18:25] program the life will change

[1:18:26] automatically after that

[1:18:28] so simple well

[1:18:30] dr bruce lipton

[1:18:32] i am so grateful for your time your

[1:18:34] heart your work and i'm curious for

[1:18:36] the people listening

[1:18:38] uh where do they find more of you uh and

[1:18:41] we'll put all the details in the show

[1:18:42] now well then basically it is it's just

[1:18:44] my website brucelipton.com everything we

[1:18:46] talked about are freely downloadable

[1:18:48] videos podcasts written articles free

[1:18:51] download them why i want you out there

[1:18:55] to do this because if you make heaven

[1:18:58] for yourself

[1:18:59] i'm in the field i'll i'll be sharing

[1:19:01] that with you

[1:19:03] so beautiful thank you sir

[1:19:06] thank you mark thank you for letting me

[1:19:08] be on your program

[1:19:09] of course

Frequently Asked Questions

Lipton argues that perception is the primary mechanism that controls biology, and that roughly 95 percent of our daily behavior runs on subconscious programs, many installed in childhood. He draws on his stem cell research to support the view that the environment and our interpretation of it shape how cells and people respond.
The experiment he describes grew genetically identical cells in three chemically different culture media, showing that the environment changed their behavior while the genes stayed the same. Lipton uses this to argue that the body is environment-responsive, but the material he discusses does not claim beliefs rewrite DNA itself.
Lipton describes epigenetics as the idea that how you see life is how your biology will respond. In his framing, gene activity responds to signals and conditions rather than being fixed by heredity alone.
Lipton says he learned his own relationship behavior by observing his mother and father, and that he downloaded their dysfunctional patterns without realizing it. He argues that these absorbed programs run beneath conscious awareness and shape how adults approach love and partnership.
He challenges the story that genes are blueprints that run themselves, arguing that the environment helps determine which genetic functions are used. In his view, this makes the body an active interpreter of its surroundings, which opens the question of what conditions a person is living inside.
Lipton cites about 50 trillion cells and notes that millions are replaced every few days, with stem cells supplying replacements. He uses this constant renewal to argue that the body is always responding to its signals, which is the bridge to his claim that perception shapes biology.
The episode description promises three practical ways to reprogram the subconscious mind, which appear later in the full conversation on the Mark Groves Podcast. Listen to the full episode, since the excerpt available here does not detail those methods.
