From Mind to Heart: Finding the Witness Behind Longing

From Moojiji

Watch · 7

On 18 October 2026, at a satsang in Monte Sahaja, Portugal, a seeker tells Mooji that a longing for God has been growing since birth, and that it is now breaking apart the shape of their life. The seeker wants to be in God, even to be God. Then the mind steps in with its favorite argument: if everything is one, why long at all? Mooji does not debate the argument. He asks a simpler question, the kind a hungry person would ask without thinking. What does a deep longing do when it is real? It takes you somewhere. The talk that follows, published on the Mooji YouTube channel under the title "From Mind to Heart, An Experiential Guidance," is less a doctrine than a working method: follow the yearning, look at what perceives every object of attention, and test every answer against your own direct experience instead of against what you have been told.

Why does longing have to take you somewhere?

Mooji begins with appetite, not theology. "Whatever you truly want, you will pursue, isn't it?" he says. "You're hungry. You don't go to the beach to go swimming." The point lands because nobody needs to be persuaded that hunger leads to food. He then moves to a story about someone who sees a photograph of a stranger and cannot stop wondering who the person is. The natural response is to ask around, to find out where they come from, to try to meet them. If the answer turns out to be painful, that is still an answer, and it still has to be faced.

"If you're yearning for it, your yearning will take you in a direction to fulfill the yearning. Because to just yearn becomes a suffering, painful, if it's not fulfilled, isn't it?" (Mooji, satsang at Monte Sahaja, Portugal, 18 October 2026; passage at about 2:24)

This is the first move in the talk, and it reframes the seeker's problem. A longing that goes nowhere hardens into suffering. A longing that is followed becomes a compass. Mooji's claim is that the object of the longing for God is not somewhere else. It is "the one that is everywhere, not hiding behind any cloud," present in every living being and, he says, even in non-living things, as their cause. Every other thing you might chase, he notes, will be "in another country, another town, another house." The one you are actually looking for is closer than that. Here he is at his most direct: the supreme is "nearer to you than intimacy," and there is no gap in which it could be apart from you.

Where is the center of the world, really?

Mooji takes a cosmic detour before returning to the room. He describes Earth as a tiny speck in a physical universe of uncountable planets, and beyond that a spiritual realm with no number for its worlds. Yet wherever a person stands on this planet, they feel they are at the center of the world. Why? His answer is that the center is not a physical location. "It's the core, it's a core quality and presence. And that is your link," he says, calling it "your first great clue." This is the hinge of the entire guidance. If the center is a presence rather than a place, then the search does not require a journey. It requires attention turned around.

That turn runs straight into the mind, which Mooji treats with unusual candor. People have tried everything to get a successful, happy, peaceful mind by effort, he says, and even yogis do not reliably get there. Most of the modern world, he observes, has built a large industry around working on the mind. He is not offering another self-improvement program. He points out that everything we experience is filtered through what we have imagined, and that "our world is contained in our mind." The taste of our life, in his phrase, is the taste of our mind, and that taste can change. But changing the taste is not the same as finding what tastes.

What is the difference between "my mind" and "me"?

This is where the guidance becomes an investigation. Mooji asks us to notice how we attach the word "my" to everything: my mind, my life, my family, my friends, my belief, my practice. Every item that receives the possessive can change, and much of it does. But then comes the question that the rest of the talk keeps circling. "Who is the me? Who is me? Me must be there before my, isn't it?" If possession requires a possessor, then who or what is that possessor?

"It's a little bit of a shapeshifter, no?" (Mooji, satsang at Monte Sahaja, Portugal, 18 October 2026; passage at about 7:53)

He makes the point with an example most readers will recognize. People write autobiographies, and then, years later, wish they could take them back. They keep editing, adding a chapter here, removing one there. The story is never quite the truth, because the self that is supposed to be recorded keeps shifting its shape. Mooji's conclusion is that no biography or autobiography can represent "the truth of you." Something in us knows the account is not quite right.

Can happiness be ongoing, untouched by circumstance?

The talk's emotional center is a set of hard questions about happiness. Mooji says no one is continuously happy. The richest person, the greatest king, the owner of the largest diamond, is not made happy by these things if they are sick or discontent. "Happiness and our planet are intermittent states, like waving," he says. Can there be a happiness that is ongoing and untouched?

He tests the usual answer, which is human love. Two people marry, make pledges, and things change. Some couples grow together and are very happy in the human way. But if your happiness depends entirely on someone else, the loss of that person will be a suffering you cannot escape. So he asks the question that the rest of the satsang has been building toward: where can a happiness be found that does not die when the body dies?

"Is it simply impossible for human being to be fully happy? Then what the hell is it all about?" (Mooji, satsang at Monte Sahaja, Portugal, 18 October 2026; passage at about 11:03)

Notice what Mooji does not do here. He does not answer. He lets the question stand as a question the listener must live with, which is consistent with the description's warning: "Don't give me answers. Here, right answers are not enough."

What is perceiving the perception?

The method comes into focus in the later portion of the satsang. The description of the video states the approach plainly: "Whatever you can perceive, through the mind or the senses, become objects of attention. That which is perceiving them, does it have shape?" Thoughts, sensations, emotions, sounds, visions, even the act of perceiving itself can be noticed as objects. Mooji is not asking anyone to destroy these objects. "We are not destroying anything—they can be here," he says. The question is what is aware of them.

He asks the listener to look for the subject rather than the object. "We're trying to find what is it that is," he says, around the 28:10 mark, and then he presses the point about revelation itself. Is a moment of insight an object? If you try to examine it as one, you find it does not behave the way objects do. Later he asks whether the experience of darkness can be examined in the same way: when you close your eyes and see nothing, the darkness is itself an experience, and something is still aware of it. "It is not an object," he says at about 34:31. The witness is not one more thing to be held up for inspection.

This is why the teaching is experiential. Mooji repeatedly invites the listener to check rather than accept. "Let's do it. Let's do it. Experience it first." The inquiry is designed so that you can run it right now, while reading, while sitting, while waiting for the kettle. Notice what is perceived. Notice what perceives. Notice whether the perceiver has a shape, a color, a boundary, a location. Notice what does not change while everything else does.

Where to go from here

The talk leaves very little for the mind to hold onto, which is part of its design. To work with it, you can start with a simple practice drawn directly from the guidance. Sit for a few minutes. Name what you are perceiving through the senses and the mind. Ask whether the one who perceives those objects has a shape. Do not try to make the answer come out a certain way; the instruction is to look, not to conclude. If longing comes up during the sit, treat it the way Mooji treats hunger: as a sign that something wants to take you somewhere, and follow it with care rather than suppressing it.

The full satsang, titled "Set Your Life Free," is available on Mooji.tv at mooji.org/satsangs/set-your-life-free. Watching the exchanges in full adds something a transcript cannot, including the long silences and the moments when the seeker's question changes shape under Mooji's gentle pressure. If the guidance speaks to you, it is listed under the channel's own support options, which Mooji's team asks viewers to consider as a way of sharing satsang with others.

[0:18] Namaste.

[0:19] >> Hello.

[0:19] >> Guruji, hi.

[0:20] >> Um

[0:22] >> In me, in this um

[0:24] I feel such a strong longing for God

[0:26] since

[0:27] >> Yeah.

[0:27] >> I was born, I think.

[0:29] >> Yes.

[0:29] >> And this longing is so strong and

[0:31] getting stronger and stronger.

[0:32] >> Yeah.

[0:33] >> And I wonder who the one is who longs.

[0:37] So, mind wants sometimes to control it

[0:41] and to say, "Well, if everything is one,

[0:44] you shouldn't long." But I want to be

[0:45] here. I want to be

[0:48] with God. I want to be in God. I want to

[0:50] be God, actually.

[0:51] >> Yes.

[0:52] >> And um

[0:53] But this is really also

[0:56] I don't know, sometimes

[0:58] it's really breaking up me completely.

[1:00] And um

[1:01] >> Is it really what?

[1:01] >> It's breaking up my whole life. It's um

[1:04] And now sometimes I feel, "Wow, um

[1:08] how to handle this?"

[1:09] And still sometimes there is something

[1:12] creeping in this field like fear of

[1:15] mortality also. And then I think, "Wow,

[1:18] another topic. Um

[1:20] longing, yeah. So,

[1:23] follow or not follow?"

[1:26] That's maybe the question.

[1:29] >> Whatever you um

[1:31] whatever seriously engages your

[1:33] attention, whatever you truly want,

[1:36] you will pursue, isn't it?

[1:39] If you want something, you'll pursue it.

[1:41] Let's take it simply. You're hungry. You

[1:44] You don't You don't You don't go to the

[1:46] beach to go swimming. If you're hungry,

[1:47] you go to a place to get something to

[1:49] eat.

[1:50] Keep it simple. If you say that you have

[1:52] a deep longing for God,

[1:54] how do you set about uh

[1:57] you know, fulfilling that that longing?

[2:00] In most natural way.

[2:03] It must some longing must be taking you

[2:05] somewhere.

[2:06] If you have a deep urge to to meet

[2:08] someone, you've seen them. Even if you

[2:10] just see a picture, you don't know who

[2:12] it is. Some people have done that. They

[2:14] saw a picture of someone. They thought,

[2:15] "Ah,

[2:16] who is this person? Who is this person?"

[2:18] They There is no information on the

[2:20] picture. Maybe somebody lost it

[2:22] somewhere. But supposing you're

[2:24] deeply touched or fascinated by

[2:26] something happened and you really really

[2:28] want to know who this person is. Would

[2:30] you not

[2:31] Would you not go about finding ask

[2:33] somebody

[2:35] you know, where which country they come

[2:36] from, which place, how can I meet this

[2:38] person? Then if somebody say, "Oh, this

[2:40] man Oh, no, he died 6 years ago."

[2:43] And then you say, "Oh,

[2:45] okay." You have to come to terms with

[2:46] that.

[2:48] But if somebody if you're yearning for

[2:49] it it the your yearning will take you in

[2:51] a direction to fulfill the yearning.

[2:54] Because to just yearn becomes a

[2:55] suffering, painful, if it's not

[2:57] fulfilled, isn't it?

[2:59] So you say you have a yearning not for

[3:02] other other things in the world, but for

[3:03] God,

[3:05] which means uh

[3:07] the one that is everywhere.

[3:12] Not hiding behind any cloud.

[3:15] It's in everywhere, every living being,

[3:18] even in non-living things is there.

[3:22] He's the cause of them.

[3:25] So amongst living beings is the very

[3:28] core of them.

[3:29] Your deepest feeling, your truest

[3:33] sense or identity, your greatest love,

[3:37] your deepest longing

[3:39] is for that.

[3:43] So where you going to go to find?

[3:48] Everything else is going to be somewhere

[3:50] apart from you.

[3:52] Everything else is going to be in

[3:53] another country, another town, another

[3:55] place, another house.

[3:57] But where are you going to find that one

[4:00] who is everywhere?

[4:02] Who is the cause of not just the entire

[4:05] Earth and its atmosphere, but the solar

[4:08] system in which the Earth is a part of.

[4:11] And the solar system

[4:13] and that all the nine planets in the

[4:15] solar system,

[4:16] you know, is a tiny speck in the

[4:20] physical universe comprised of billions

[4:22] and billions, uncountable,

[4:26] the planets and universes in the

[4:28] physical realm.

[4:31] And greater in the spiritual realm.

[4:34] Trillions and no number exists for them.

[4:37] We're on tiny Earth.

[4:41] And yet where it is, wherever you may be

[4:43] on this planet, you always feel you're

[4:45] living in the center of the world.

[4:48] Maybe if you're lost in the wilderness

[4:49] and you you're getting hungry, you may

[4:51] not feel you're in the center.

[4:54] But wherever we live, we always feel

[4:55] we're in the center of the world.

[4:58] Why? Because that center is not

[5:00] necessarily just a physical center.

[5:03] It's the core, it's a core

[5:05] uh

[5:06] quality and presence.

[5:09] And that is your link.

[5:11] And that is your link, your first great

[5:14] clue.

[5:21] To find the such and such a person, you

[5:23] may have to go to another town, go on

[5:25] internet. Do you have to go to internet

[5:28] to find this one

[5:30] who is nearer to you than intimacy?

[5:37] And even near is too far.

[5:41] There's no gap that the supreme can be

[5:44] apart from you to be

[5:48] a separation even.

[5:51] Everything, all the trouble come through

[5:54] the mind.

[5:55] What we imagine.

[5:58] And after certain point, some people

[5:59] just get tired of the mind. They tried

[6:01] everything to get a successful, happy,

[6:04] peaceful mind by effort I've not been

[6:06] able to.

[6:07] Even yogas, yogis, even they don't get

[6:10] it.

[6:11] How are you going to come to this?

[6:17] There's something more peaceful you must

[6:19] find than your mind.

[6:24] You.

[6:27] You are the witness of mind. You can see

[6:29] turbulent mind, quiet mind,

[6:32] intermittent states of quietude,

[6:35] excitement, joy, panic. All these

[6:37] things, mind is like that.

[6:41] But that which witnesses the mind,

[6:45] the same I say the word mind because our

[6:47] world is contained in our mind.

[6:51] We say there's one Earth, but there are

[6:53] billions of worlds.

[6:56] Earth is a

[6:57] physical place,

[6:59] but your world is uniquely

[7:01] our internal construct, psychological,

[7:04] emotional, devotional, personal is the

[7:07] world we're living, and we smell and

[7:10] look and taste like our world.

[7:12] We taste like our mind.

[7:15] And that taste can change.

[7:18] And most people, they look to work on

[7:22] their mind. In our planet, we work on

[7:25] our mind. And there's a big industry

[7:29] to work on the mind.

[7:30] But here I'm not telling you to work on

[7:33] your mind.

[7:35] Because the very fact that you use you

[7:37] and yours

[7:38] is not same thing. Yours mean it belongs

[7:41] to you.

[7:43] You mean this.

[7:45] Uh so, mind, you say my mind,

[7:49] anything you touch with after my is

[7:51] something else.

[7:53] My life, even, my family, my friends, my

[7:56] belief,

[7:58] my practice, all of these can change.

[8:02] My.

[8:03] But who is a me?

[8:08] Who is me? Me must be there before my,

[8:11] isn't it?

[8:13] You can say my or mine.

[8:15] This belongs to me, it's mine. This is

[8:18] something you possess.

[8:22] But who is the me or the I?

[8:26] Hm?

[8:28] Let's solve this and think we'll all

[8:30] other problems will fall away.

[8:33] Who is this me? It It

[8:35] It's a little bit of a shapeshifter, no?

[8:39] Because

[8:41] uh

[8:43] even to write a a a biography or an

[8:46] autobiography of your life

[8:48] is still subject to challenge. You will

[8:50] yourself without anyone else reading it,

[8:52] you start to erase things and change

[8:53] things. Cuz no no autobiography

[8:56] represent the truth. Something knows

[8:59] it's not quite that. It's not quite

[9:00] Nothing is there.

[9:06] And so even people have written

[9:09] biographies and autobiographies of their

[9:11] life

[9:12] and most of them are they want to take

[9:14] the books back

[9:16] unless they're dead.

[9:19] They read it later and say, "No, no, I

[9:21] should have put this part or left this

[9:23] part out." Always editing our life.

[9:26] When you're dead, you're finished, you

[9:27] don't care about it.

[9:31] But so an autobiography or a biography

[9:34] cannot represent the truth's truth of

[9:36] you.

[9:37] So what is this truth of you?

[9:41] Cuz no person no personality is

[9:44] ongoingly happy.

[9:45] Nobody. You can be the richest person,

[9:47] the greatest emperor or king or queen,

[9:50] it's not going to make you happy in this

[9:52] way.

[9:54] Have the greatest diamond,

[9:56] the biggest crown, it will be nothing

[9:59] for you

[10:00] if you're sick or you're not

[10:02] uh

[10:04] happy and content.

[10:06] So happiness and our planet are

[10:07] intermittent states, like waving.

[10:11] Can there be a happiness that is

[10:14] ongoing

[10:15] untouched?

[10:16] It has to be not depending on things.

[10:21] Are we coming close?

[10:22] >> Yes.

[10:22] >> This has to be something. It cannot just

[10:25] be other.

[10:26] You are married the best person in the

[10:27] world.

[10:29] Lot of fun. You make great pledges.

[10:33] And after some time things change. They

[10:35] change, you change, things change.

[10:38] And you may grow and yet you may live

[10:40] all your life together and be very happy

[10:43] in the human way fulfillment.

[10:47] But if you're only happy with the

[10:49] someone else, so if one of you are going

[10:51] to go before the other unless you decide

[10:53] to make a pact

[10:56] then the other one is going to suffer.

[10:58] Isn't it?

[11:00] So where are you going to find a

[11:01] happiness

[11:03] which even when the body is dying, it

[11:05] will not touch this happiness?

[11:09] Mhm.

[11:12] And this has to be answered now. And

[11:14] it's not going to be answer rolling off

[11:16] your lips.

[11:20] Or is it simply impossible? Is it simply

[11:23] impossible for human being to be

[11:26] fully happy? Then what the hell is it

[11:28] all about then?

[11:30] Because suffering we are experts.

[11:33] But where is this happiness which is not

[11:35] about something?

[11:38] Not about a relationship, not about the

[11:39] state of your business, not about the

[11:42] state of your health, independent of

[11:43] that.

[11:45] Is there Are we in fantasy land? Then

[11:47] speaking is fantasy land. So where is

[11:49] that?

[11:51] What is that happiness?

[11:52] Is it attainable?

[11:54] Is it feasible? Is it possible?

[11:57] And for you

[12:01] today.

[12:02] >> Yes.

[12:03] >> Let's have it then.

[12:06] Because misery is uh

[12:08] always uh ongoing dramas.

[12:13] It I put it this way, we are not uh

[12:16] just here because we have to suffer. We

[12:18] suffer Suffering is uh

[12:22] Mhm.

[12:25] Pain is actual, suffering is optional.

[12:28] Depends upon the quality of your

[12:31] your

[12:32] mhm maturity,

[12:34] mind, sense of being.

[12:38] So, something can happen happen right

[12:41] here, and five people are immensely

[12:43] happy about it.

[12:45] And

[12:45] five other people are just

[12:48] completely destroyed by it, and other

[12:50] one don't care.

[12:53] So, can't blame the thing.

[12:58] So, I want to zoom into this happiness.

[13:00] Is there a happiness beyond possession?

[13:04] >> Yes.

[13:05] >> Mhm.

[13:08] So, we're here.

[13:12] What How to find this happiness? Where

[13:14] is it?

[13:16] There are other names for happiness. We

[13:18] don't have to call it just happiness. It

[13:19] could be complete contentment,

[13:22] total sense of fulfillment,

[13:25] so naturally fulfilled that the concept

[13:28] of fulfillment is not even there.

[13:33] Does it mean that this happiness is

[13:36] someone you meet smiling all the time?

[13:39] That's creepy.

[13:40] That's creepy. Doesn't mean you have to

[13:42] be there.

[13:43] And that's creepy. That's not that.

[13:46] Mhm.

[13:49] And so, even though we may experience

[13:52] different states, you know,

[13:54] uh some sense of turbulence in the mind

[13:57] or the body, that can be there. And can

[14:00] I say also, it does not uh touch this.

[14:04] Because this is not a happiness about.

[14:09] All happiness or pleasure is about

[14:12] something, because of something.

[14:15] But what about that which has no

[14:17] aboutness about it?

[14:19] So we And we don't know we That's why I

[14:21] say, let's use another word also for

[14:23] happiness.

[14:24] What about joy?

[14:26] What about awake?

[14:27] What about pure being?

[14:30] You use a word to God.

[14:34] Has anybody heard about the miserable

[14:35] God?

[14:38] And so

[14:40] what does it mean

[14:42] for you? What is this God that you're

[14:44] longing for?

[14:46] I feel we can also say you're longing to

[14:49] be home.

[14:51] And home is not necessarily a physical

[14:53] thing.

[14:55] Everyone

[14:57] Mhm. There was one thing I I think

[14:59] someone was sharing about the film. I

[15:00] didn't see it.

[15:02] Where there was a

[15:04] uh the story part of it was a woman

[15:07] who was very wealthy, wealthy husband,

[15:08] wealthy wife, and they had a wealthy

[15:10] life and everything. So uh but she had a

[15:13] compassionate heart.

[15:15] And so she just felt that this is not

[15:17] enough to have these things. She want to

[15:19] go and work and to work with homeless

[15:21] people and this kind of thing. And so

[15:25] um she went and she started this work.

[15:27] She became very very happy doing this

[15:30] work, very fulfilling.

[15:32] And so her husband noticed that she's

[15:35] extraordinarily happy.

[15:37] Not blissfully, but you know, she's very

[15:38] content in her life.

[15:40] So then he we start to look at what what

[15:43] the work she was doing and then he

[15:45] realized, "Oh, you know, she's Many

[15:47] people are grateful to her. They love

[15:49] her. They like her way. She's very

[15:51] respectful."

[15:52] So he felt very proud of this. So he

[15:54] decided one day to go by himself to this

[15:57] place.

[15:58] And he went there.

[16:00] And then he was speaking to one man. I

[16:02] think the man was a cleaner. He says,

[16:04] "You know, you know, you you you you

[16:06] live here?" He says, "Yes, I I I live

[16:08] here. You know, I was homeless before,

[16:10] but I found this wonderful place."

[16:12] And uh then he said uh

[16:15] "You know, my wife

[16:17] works here.

[16:19] And the people like her, she's very

[16:22] well known, very, you know?

[16:24] Because what? She loves and she likes to

[16:27] work to support homeless people.

[16:31] And the man said to her,

[16:33] "Sir,

[16:34] everyone is homeless until they find

[16:37] God."

[16:40] Rich man has big

[16:42] mansions and cars and stuff. Felt,

[16:45] "Look, he's uh my wife is generous. She

[16:48] gives, we give all to you.

[16:51] She loves to work with homeless people."

[16:54] The man said, "Sir, everyone is homeless

[16:57] until they find God.

[16:59] Now, where are you going to find God?"

[17:08] I'm not talking I'm not presented that

[17:11] to God is a physical being, physical

[17:14] entity somewhere.

[17:16] We we we have believed that also.

[17:19] Then if he's up there, then he doesn't

[17:21] know what's happening down here. And

[17:22] certainly not knows what's happening

[17:24] with you.

[17:25] I said, "No.

[17:27] Let's let's take a look and see

[17:29] if we can find this one.

[17:32] If he's everywhere, why nobody finding

[17:34] him?

[17:36] So, today we're going to catch him."

[17:41] How you going to catch?

[17:44] How you going to find, you see?

[17:46] You must be willing to to leave

[17:48] everything.

[17:49] When I say leave everything, I don't

[17:51] mean to destroy.

[17:53] I mean to detach a little bit. Let the

[17:55] mind continue

[17:58] pushing up

[18:00] its plans and things.

[18:02] Be aware of that.

[18:04] It's not everything that comes to the

[18:06] mind gets fed by you. Many things come

[18:09] they don't they don't even register

[18:11] because not interested.

[18:14] So, if every thought, every thing you

[18:16] see in the life appears to be

[18:18] auditioning for your attention to try

[18:20] and me by me get me but to say No no you

[18:24] don't touch any of these things.

[18:27] Even the one that feels attractive from

[18:29] one side for a moment just leave this

[18:31] leave this.

[18:32] You lost nothing.

[18:33] Don't purchase anything.

[18:35] Any feeling any sensation coming like

[18:38] that just be aware it's fine it can be

[18:40] there.

[18:42] If you don't pick it up they're not

[18:44] going to be vexed.

[18:45] They ignored me. No.

[18:50] Leave everything.

[18:51] And now we come to your favorite

[18:54] thoughts.

[18:55] Your favorite emotions various favorite

[18:57] thoughts.

[18:58] Favorite images leave them as well.

[19:00] Don't destroy but

[19:04] step back for a moment

[19:06] and take nothing with you.

[19:08] I say recede

[19:10] and take nothing with you.

[19:12] It's a very simple thing.

[19:14] Recede doesn't mean you don't have to

[19:15] get out of your chair right there. You

[19:17] just

[19:19] Meaning let these things be they can be

[19:21] there.

[19:23] Because without you they don't exist for

[19:25] you.

[19:28] Okay. They can wait they can be there

[19:30] don't worry.

[19:31] But we're leaving everything for a

[19:32] moment to find out what remain.

[19:36] And you must do this don't just think

[19:38] this.

[19:39] Don't just think this.

[19:41] So the the thoughts the feelings the

[19:44] emotions the memories

[19:46] the desires all of these they're

[19:49] We've given far too much time to them.

[19:54] And they're not hurt by you ignoring

[19:56] them.

[19:59] So leave for a minute. Let's see if you

[20:01] how it is to just be only you.

[20:06] We're good?

[20:08] So we leave everything all these things

[20:10] of yesterday don't touch anything from

[20:12] here don't take nothing tomorrow. Today

[20:15] also whatever is coming no no it's okay

[20:16] it's okay.

[20:18] You know.

[20:21] Put

[20:22] having a break on your door.

[20:24] Nobody, nothing to

[20:27] Now, what's left if you not destroy

[20:31] but simply remain detached, not for the

[20:34] moment, yeah? You're on your break.

[20:36] You're on your God break, okay? So, you

[20:39] leave everything. Now, you're here.

[20:41] As what are you here?

[20:45] As what are you here?

[20:50] You don't have to empty your pockets,

[20:52] just ignore all the things.

[20:54] Everybody can do it.

[20:57] Then, what is here? Now, I need to hear

[20:59] from you. What remain now?

[21:02] So, well, okay, there's still some

[21:04] thoughts. Yeah, yeah, it's okay.

[21:06] They can be there, but you're not

[21:08] purchased. You're not

[21:09] in a relationship now for a moment.

[21:11] Leave everything.

[21:14] Like you're in deep sleep. Like you're

[21:16] in deep sleep. In deep sleep, you have

[21:18] no possession, no relation, nothing.

[21:20] Deep sleep, but awake.

[21:23] Okay?

[21:25] So, just like this.

[21:26] So, nothing and nothing is waiting.

[21:29] The world is not waiting outside. Just

[21:31] leave everything.

[21:32] What is here?

[21:37] Mhm?

[21:38] Heaven?

[21:41] Presence.

[21:43] Presence is here.

[21:46] What does presence look like?

[21:49] How is presence recognized?

[21:53] We say presence.

[21:55] We are aware of You may be even a blind

[21:58] person

[22:00] alone in a room,

[22:01] and someone walks in

[22:04] just in socks, so no no noise. They are

[22:08] aware.

[22:10] Maybe more aware than us.

[22:12] Yeah?

[22:12] They're aware. There's a presence here.

[22:15] Yeah.

[22:17] And they may speak. They may say to you,

[22:19] um

[22:21] ah um what is your name?

[22:24] They can't see,

[22:26] but they're aware of

[22:27] a presence.

[22:29] Suppose there's no other presence.

[22:33] Okay?

[22:35] No angels,

[22:37] no demons,

[22:39] no people,

[22:40] no things. All these

[22:43] We're not saying we destroyed.

[22:45] We're saying that we are just not

[22:47] engaged.

[22:49] Detached

[22:50] from that.

[22:52] Okay?

[22:53] And you're here. What now? What is here

[22:56] now?

[22:58] So, the breath Breath is here. Breath

[23:00] you can see.

[23:02] Breath you aware.

[23:03] Something watches breath.

[23:06] That which watches breath, which is

[23:08] aware of breath,

[23:09] is that breathing also?

[23:12] What is aware of breath?

[23:15] So, I say nearer than breath even.

[23:18] Breath

[23:19] is a prana.

[23:21] The animating force of life form.

[23:26] So, even prana We're not destroying. We

[23:28] will need We need for the exercise

[23:30] anyway as well. So, prana can be there.

[23:33] Breath is going on, but we're not

[23:35] engaged with breath. We aware of that.

[23:37] So, subtler than breath.

[23:40] That which is watching breath.

[23:42] Mhm? Watches breath.

[23:44] Mhm?

[23:45] Watches

[23:47] the senses functioning. It knows them.

[23:52] What is it?

[23:55] Is it imagine imagination?

[23:58] I might If there was imagination, it's

[24:00] already it will know this is

[24:01] imagination.

[24:03] So, we not this Okay, this this also we

[24:05] can leave.

[24:07] What is here?

[24:09] Did somebody say love?

[24:12] Okay, love.

[24:14] So, love is also noticed.

[24:18] Beautiful. Love is here now.

[24:20] Mhm?

[24:21] Love

[24:23] beyond subject and object. Cuz you we

[24:26] talk about love, we have the lover and

[24:28] the beloved.

[24:29] We have lover and the thing to love,

[24:31] okay? So, both the the lover and the

[24:34] beloved and the love itself is already

[24:38] is already is also perceived in this.

[24:41] You follow what I'm saying? Even love.

[24:44] Oh, excellent love.

[24:46] The life force.

[24:48] The breathing, the breath.

[24:50] All of this is happening

[24:53] in the consciousness.

[24:56] Consciousness is here.

[24:59] Consciousness and presence, same same.

[25:03] A presence is your sense of presence.

[25:07] Yes?

[25:08] That within which you simply know you

[25:11] exist without comparison to anything.

[25:14] You know.

[25:15] Just like a mosquito come, it knows it

[25:17] exists. Everything in this existence,

[25:20] okay?

[25:22] So, any more to go than this?

[25:26] That even you know you're conscious

[25:29] right now.

[25:31] Isn't it? You know you're conscious now.

[25:33] You're not sleepy, you're conscious. So,

[25:35] something must be even subtler than

[25:37] consciousness to know

[25:40] we are having this

[25:41] talk or this introspection because we're

[25:44] conscious.

[25:45] Is somebody sleeping over there not

[25:47] participating? That's fine.

[25:49] We are conscious. You need to be

[25:50] conscious to be bit this consciously

[25:54] following this little exercise.

[25:57] Huh? Not just in your head.

[25:59] Maybe the mind is trying to figure it

[26:00] out, but that also is seen.

[26:03] So, remember that whatever you can

[26:05] perceive, whatever can be perceived

[26:08] through the mind or the senses becomes

[26:11] objects of attention.

[26:13] Hm?

[26:16] So, that which is perceiving them,

[26:19] does it have shape?

[26:23] You only you can know now.

[26:25] I'm not going to tell you. I want to

[26:27] hear from you. So, that which is aware

[26:30] of even the subtlest

[26:32] the breath

[26:34] or the holding of the breath is

[26:37] naturally

[26:38] appearing, let's say, on the on the

[26:40] screen of perception.

[26:42] Can we use like that?

[26:43] So, that now, that is seen. Mhm? It is

[26:46] seen. So, even the act of seeing

[26:52] even the functioning of perceiving or

[26:55] perception

[26:56] is known. Is

[27:00] Yes? Is this too difficult for anybody?

[27:03] Okay. So, what does that signal? Beyond

[27:06] everything that can be called knowable

[27:09] then you may say,

[27:11] "I feel

[27:12] I feel this amazing. I feel like"

[27:14] somebody may say, "I just feel like the

[27:17] the presence of God or the Holy Spirit."

[27:19] So, that's also perceived.

[27:22] We're not destroying anything, remember.

[27:24] Welcome. Welcome. That can be here, but

[27:26] that is also perceived for a moment.

[27:29] We're not rejecting.

[27:31] We're trying to find what is it that is

[27:32] perceiving.

[27:36] That is even aware of perceiving.

[27:40] Are we still here?

[27:41] >> Yes.

[27:42] >> Yes. As what now?

[27:45] >> Being.

[27:49] >> Let's do it. Let's do it.

[27:51] Let's do it.

[27:52] Experience it first. Don't give me

[27:54] answers.

[27:55] Here, right answers are not enough.

[27:59] Here, my questions lead to direct

[28:02] experience.

[28:04] And not just a dualistic experience of

[28:07] one thing experiencing another thing.

[28:10] A non-dual experience.

[28:15] What is that that has no counterpart, no

[28:18] other? How does it know itself?

[28:23] What does it look like?

[28:28] How can it be recognized?

[28:33] Does it need to destroy the body?

[28:36] Does it need to get rid of the world?

[28:39] Does it need to fight demons?

[28:42] What is it?

[28:45] Here for remember, I'm not interested in

[28:48] answers.

[28:51] Right now,

[28:52] my interest is in the question. Keep in

[28:54] the question alive.

[28:56] Cuz this question is revealing

[28:58] something.

[29:00] Mhm? But is this revelation an object?

[29:03] You see.

[29:10] Are my words relatable?

[29:12] >> Yes.

[29:12] >> Yes.

[29:15] And that also says words are relatable.

[29:18] It's almost like a mirror.

[29:22] Now I said earlier that if you put any

[29:25] object in front of a mirror, it will

[29:27] reflect that object perfectly.

[29:30] But if you put two mirrors facing each

[29:33] other,

[29:35] what will they reflect?

[29:40] Now your mind cannot help you here.

[29:44] Because even if you had a peep, it's not

[29:46] going to be true.

[29:49] What will they reflect?

[29:51] Who will know?

[29:55] This is the kind of question I'm putting

[29:57] to you.

[29:59] And it's not just for your mind. We've

[30:01] left the mind now.

[30:06] We've left you have Whatever you can

[30:08] observe, you cannot be.

[30:12] Whatever you observe, you cannot be.

[30:18] Okay? You got that?

[30:20] >> Yes.

[30:20] >> Are you afraid?

[30:22] >> No.

[30:23] >> Is there fear here?

[30:24] >> No.

[30:29] >> What is your state, alive or dead? Or

[30:31] what is it?

[30:32] >> Neither.

[30:35] >> I'm happy you can't say.

[30:39] Maybe beyond.

[30:44] My point is

[30:46] is

[30:47] there fear

[30:49] here?

[30:52] Mhm?

[30:54] I would not be surprised if someone

[30:56] felt, you know, "Whoa, whoa.

[30:58] I need to go.

[31:01] Some fear is coming and that that is is

[31:04] leading us into some darkness."

[31:07] I said, "Well,

[31:09] let's all go together in the darkness.

[31:11] Let's see what happen if it's darkness.

[31:14] If there is darkness, darkness will also

[31:16] be seen.

[31:18] If there's light, light will also be

[31:20] seen.

[31:21] Huh? If there is uh supernatural beings,

[31:25] they will also be seen.

[31:33] So, who are you?

[31:40] And I don't want your answer.

[31:44] Who are you?

[31:47] What is your size

[31:48] or your shape

[31:50] or your you?

[31:57] Why you not crying or shaking or

[32:03] Suppose you feel stunned by what I say.

[32:07] Maybe a sensation in the body, okay?

[32:10] That is also an experience, also

[32:12] momentariness.

[32:18] So, is this, whatever this is, this

[32:22] unnameable

[32:27] is it a figment of imagination?

[32:30] Seeing that imagination and the function

[32:33] of imagination

[32:35] is also knowable.

[32:40] How are you feeling right now?

[32:43] Good?

[32:45] Mhm.

[32:50] So, goodness is us all feeling.

[33:00] Who are you here?

[33:05] What gives you the power to respond?

[33:11] I call it awareness.

[33:14] Awareness cannot be subtracted.

[33:18] It is not an object.

[33:24] It is the self.

[33:29] It is the self.

[33:32] Not a thing.

[33:34] Not a verb, nor a noun.

[33:45] Not imagined.

[33:53] Could this be

[33:56] what this longing in you

[34:06] is for?

[34:12] What now? What to do?

[34:15] What to do or not to do?

[34:19] Have I paralyzed you?

[34:23] So, what?

[34:25] Mhm?

[34:27] Does it mean

[34:29] from now, realizing this, I must start

[34:31] to sit in a certain way?

[34:34] I must put a label on myself. My name is

[34:37] nothing.

[34:39] What do you want to do now?

[34:42] What is your behavior particularly?

[34:45] Well,

[34:47] much

[34:48] what will happen to

[34:50] your expression because this expression

[34:53] will come

[34:54] if you've come to if you come to this

[34:57] place of awake This is called awakening.

[35:02] This is called the natural

[35:05] state.

[35:09] This is called the Brahman.

[35:19] This is called the being of God.

[35:33] What does it look like?

[35:40] And where is it not?

[35:45] All existence is all the planets and

[35:48] their life forms in the physical and

[35:50] spiritual universes

[35:53] uncountable

[35:56] are floating in him.

[36:03] He is not he, he is not she, he is not

[36:06] it.

[36:07] There's nothing known through the mind.

[36:11] Prior to mind.

[36:17] Unimaginably real.

[36:26] Remember I asked before

[36:28] if I moved my hand like this, moving as

[36:30] an example, moving.

[36:32] I'm aware of it, no?

[36:34] I'm aware this is happening. Do I have

[36:36] to look at it to see I'm aware at it?

[36:39] I'm aware of this.

[36:41] Is the awareness doing this?

[36:44] Is my awareness doing this?

[36:48] This awareness and this that I've just

[36:51] find same thing.

[36:53] All life, all mind, all diversity, it

[36:56] manifest through consciousness.

[36:59] Consciousness is its creative power

[37:03] that manifests all

[37:06] life

[37:07] and takes care of it also.

[37:11] It gives the

[37:12] the play of diversity, the dance of

[37:15] duality, the movement of all things

[37:20] is

[37:22] moving in accordance to its will.

[37:25] The mind with its with its vast spectrum

[37:29] and facet of being this or that and

[37:32] coming and going and life and death and

[37:34] you and me and this and that and heaven

[37:35] and hell and the da da da, all of that

[37:37] is its

[37:39] dream the dancing.

[37:43] And yet in each form is there.

[37:46] Even in an ant or a mosquito, depending

[37:49] upon what the purpose of that life form

[37:52] was meant to

[37:54] do.

[37:58] Is in everything.

[38:06] Tell me what your mind has to say about

[38:08] what I'm saying.

[38:10] What's your person got to say about what

[38:12] I'm saying? You are

[38:13] you what I'm not just saying but what

[38:15] you are following also. Somebody give

[38:17] her and give this over there.

[38:28] >> For a moment, I wanted to raise my hand

[38:30] to say I'm

[38:33] um seeing a

[38:35] in that moment of of guidance and this

[38:37] guidance to destruction coming.

[38:40] >> Mhm.

[38:41] >> And I felt that person being destructed

[38:43] for a moment. I wanted to seek your

[38:45] help.

[38:45] >> Yes.

[38:46] >> But then,

[38:47] um

[38:49] Just one moment. Um

[38:51] it doesn't matter because that's the

[38:52] shifting attention is seen.

[38:54] >> Yes.

[38:56] >> And uh

[38:58] yeah, it's seen.

[39:00] >> When the shifting attention is jumping

[39:03] about and that's seen, what should we do

[39:06] >> Nothing, actually.

[39:08] >> Thank you.

[39:11] What could we do?

[39:13] >> A lot.

[39:14] >> A lot.

[39:18] Run out the room, try to put out fires.

[39:20] But you answered what what need you do.

[39:24] What do you need to do? Nothing. You're

[39:26] aware of it.

[39:27] >> Yeah, I saw what

[39:28] >> By

[39:28] >> this when the sense of I as a person was

[39:32] being

[39:32] >> Yes.

[39:33] >> created in that moment again and taking

[39:35] ownership of like, "Oh, my attention is

[39:38] >> Yes.

[39:39] >> Then I started feeling like, "Oh, I

[39:41] might be needing help."

[39:42] >> That's how you create feelings.

[39:44] >> Yeah, but then the more I just put Yeah.

[39:46] >> And then go continue.

[39:47] >> Let that go because I knew there's

[39:49] something more true.

[39:50] >> Yes.

[39:51] >> So, just let that

[39:54] >> So, you knew something was more true.

[39:57] Is that what you said? And you stay in

[39:59] the place of the

[40:00] >> Yeah, and then it's

[40:02] I'm still here watching attention

[40:03] drifting, but I'm not someone whose

[40:06] attention is drifting. I'm not the one.

[40:08] >> Can you hear this?

[40:10] Can you relate to what she is sharing?

[40:14] >> Um

[40:14] before.

[40:16] >> Yeah, before.

[40:18] Before in time or in space? Before

[40:21] meaning?

[40:24] Subtler.

[40:25] Untouched.

[40:27] Untouched.

[40:28] Now, the responsible mind says, "What I

[40:31] do I need to be untouched?" And you

[40:32] should feel something about it, should

[40:34] do something about it. And there will be

[40:36] time when there will be a need to do

[40:37] something about something.

[40:39] But trust the consciousness to know and

[40:42] to function spontaneously and

[40:44] intuitively

[40:45] to address the needs of the moment.

[40:54] Instead, the the

[40:56] the the habit has been

[40:59] to project

[41:01] techniques of how to deal with your

[41:02] projections.

[41:07] Can it be as simple as this?

[41:09] >> Yes.

Frequently Asked Questions

In this satsang Mooji says that you are the witness of the mind: you can observe a turbulent mind, a quiet mind, states of excitement, joy or panic, and so on. Whatever witnesses these states is not the same as the states themselves. He asks the listener to look for that witnessing presence rather than trying to fix or control the mind.
Mooji argues that the one who is everywhere is not hidden behind any cloud and is present in every living being and even as the cause of non-living things. Because everything else lies in another town or country, the search for God points inward to a core presence. He calls this presence your link and your first great clue.
Mooji asks this question directly and does not offer a quick answer. He points out that wealth, status and even a loving marriage can leave a person unhappy or make them suffer when those things change or are lost. He invites the listener to seek a happiness that is ongoing and does not depend on circumstances.
Mooji's guidance, as stated in the video description, begins by noticing whatever you perceive through the mind or senses as an object of attention. Then you ask whether the one perceiving those objects has shape. The instruction is to experience and look, not to destroy anything or arrive at a predetermined answer.
In the description of the video, Mooji says: 'Experience it first. Don't give me answers. Here, right answers are not enough.' The implication is that an intellectual answer about awareness does not replace direct experience of what is aware.
The full-length satsang, held on 18 October 2026 at Monte Sahaja, Portugal, is available on Mooji.tv at mooji.org/satsangs/set-your-life-free. The YouTube video is an excerpt that the channel published under the title From Mind to Heart, An Experiential Guidance.
