Fallen Angels, the Watchers and the Book of Enoch on Live TV

Russell Brand
Russell Brand
Oct 23, 2026
7 min read

From Russell Brand

Watch · 8

Russell Brand's Rumble episode opens with a live beard trim by the barber Derrick Asher, a run of banter about razors and carotid arteries, and only then turns to the Book of Enoch, the Watchers and the fallen angels who, in that text, came down to earth. The roughly 45-minute episode, which carries sponsored segments, stacks two long guest conversations. Christy Anastas takes on the theology behind Enoch, sacred places and the possibility of realities our senses cannot perceive. Michael H. Peters then takes up being born again, resurrection and eternity. What makes it worth a read is the collision itself: a conversation about unseen realms carried on at barbershop volume, with a few ideas that come through clearly in the transcript, including how Enoch ranks angels and a Hebraic sense of time as cyclical.

Read · 7 sections

What happens when a theology discussion starts in the barber's chair?

The episode is deliberately loose. Brand introduces Asher with a line that sets the tone: "Now, Derek, you are a skateboarding barber. There's no other way of describing it." The trim is live, the jokes are constant, and the show plainly enjoys the risk of a blade near a throat while a guest tries to keep talking.

— Transcript, 0:00

That looseness is not just filler. A live format that allows a barber to work through a beard while a conversation runs alongside it removes the solemn register that often makes religious talk feel closed off. The audience is kept at ease before the subject becomes heavy. Note also that the show stops for a sponsored segment for Rumble Wallet partway through, a reminder that this is a commercial broadcast and not a lecture.

The show also wanders on purpose. Around 2:29 Brand brings up Timothy, whom he describes as someone who "always talks about ancient aliens and giants," and jokes that Timothy is "on everybody's podcast." It is a small moment, but it shows how the host places the Enoch discussion inside a wider culture of questions about hidden knowledge and the unseen.

— Transcript, 2:29

Why does the Book of Enoch keep coming up when people talk about fallen angels?

The episode's own description names the Book of Enoch, the Watchers and fallen angels as its central subjects, and says Anastas joins to explore "the deeper theology" behind them. The question underneath is an old one: what is the text describing, and how literally should its beings and places be read? The show does not settle that question. It opens it, and then lets the guest work through the material.

The Enoch segment begins in earnest around 13:10, when Brand moves the conversation toward the text itself. The transcript at that point is partial and often broken, so this article will not reconstruct the arguments line by line. What can be said with confidence is the structure: the Watchers are introduced as the beings tied to the fallen-angel story, and the discussion keeps returning to how those beings relate to the human world.

— Transcript, 13:10

How does Enoch's ranking of angels fit into the picture?

Around 14:55 the conversation turns to angels as an ordered system. The transcript describes a ranking of angels and suggests that the Enoch material presents a structure rather than a loose crowd of spirits. That is the detail worth holding onto: a text that organizes the unseen into levels gives a reader something concrete to test against scripture and against experience.

— Transcript, 14:55

The sentences that follow, around 15:47, concern events that recur in cycles. The thread is cut off before the argument lands, which is a real limit of the auto-generated transcript. Still, the sequence is clear enough to notice: rank, then cycle, then the possibility that certain events repeat on a timetable rather than once.

— Transcript, 15:47

What does a Hebraic sense of time have to do with it?

This is the most intriguing idea the segment reaches for. Around 22:17 the conversation moves to what the transcript calls a "Hebraic mindset when it comes to" time, with Brand reflecting that there may be a "different quality of time" than the one most modern readers assume. If that reading is right, the Enoch material would not be simply a story about the past. It would describe a structure of time in which events return, rhythms repeat and the sacred calendar carries meaning.

Readers should treat this as the guests' framing rather than settled teaching. The episode gives the idea a hearing; it does not fully develop it. But it is a useful lens for the rest of the show, because it explains why the conversation can move from fallen angels to resurrection without a jolt. In both cases, time is not a straight line.

— Transcript, 22:17

Born again, resurrection and eternity: what does the second half ask?

After the Enoch material, Michael H. Peters takes over. The episode's description frames his section around whether "our limited physical understanding can ever fully comprehend the Kingdom" of God, along with being born again, the resurrection and eternity. In the transcript, the segment around 26:11 cites a passage from Hebrews, and the discussion turns to a figure who endured the cross for a purpose. The passage is only partly legible in the transcript, so the exact wording is not quoted here.

The sharpest question in this half comes around 38:17, when the conversation asks how a person grasps eternal life. The follow-up, near 39:48, points to "the story of who Jesus said he was" as the place where that grasp begins. Peters's contribution is most useful when read as a counterweight to the Enoch discussion: where Enoch offers a detailed map of the unseen, the second half asks what it means to know that realm through a person and a promise rather than through a structure of ranks.

— Transcript, 38:17 and 39:48

Why the format matters more than any single claim

The most honest way to read this episode is as a collision of registers. The barber chair, the disposable razors and the running jokes are not separate from the theology. They keep the show from sounding certain about things it can only explore. A viewer who wants a definitive account of the Watchers will not get one here. A viewer who wants to hear serious people argue about the Book of Enoch, time, resurrection and the limits of human understanding, while a guest is getting a trim, will find the mix unusual and memorable.

Two cautions. First, the auto-generated transcript mangles names and sentences; it renders the barber as "Derek" where the description says Derrick, and the guest's name appears in several forms. Second, the episode is a daily show in which sponsorships and asides occupy real airtime. Read the Enoch and resurrection segments as the guests' arguments, and check claims against the source texts before repeating them.

Where to go from here

Watch the full episode with the timestamps above, since the most substantive material sits in the middle and final thirds rather than the opening trim. If the Enoch discussion catches your interest, read the Book of Enoch itself alongside the segment, so you can judge the guests' claims against the text rather than against the paraphrase of a live broadcast. Then return to the resurrection section and ask the question the show leaves open: whether a limited human understanding can ever fully take in what the episode calls eternity.

[0:39] come on Rumble, baby, especially if

[0:41] you're interested in free speech. Now,

[0:43] Derek, you are a skateboarding barber.

[0:45] There's no other way of describing it.

[0:47] >> Correct.

[0:48] >> Well, well, you can't skateboard while

[0:50] you're barbering me. It's too dangerous.

[0:51] But will you simply barber me

[0:54] in a sedentary way?

[0:55] >> I will barber you so hard right now.

[0:57] >> DON'T YOU BARBER.

[0:58] >> [laughter]

[0:59] >> I hereby officially grant my consent to

[1:01] for you to barber me to within an inch

[1:03] of my life.

[1:04] >> I got you.

[1:04] >> Get barbering, baby.

[1:05] >> Let's do it.

[1:06] >> Okay. So, tell me how long how long have

[1:08] you been a barber?

[1:09] >> Uh 7 years.

[1:11] >> 7 years of barbering. And

[1:13] one thing I will say is I don't like

[1:14] being itchy.

[1:16] >> Yeah, we got to keep for you, sir. Keep

[1:18] all the hair off you.

[1:18] >> Okay. Well, dress me up then. There's

[1:20] going to be a bit where you're behind

[1:24] Derek. What are you all going to do?

[1:25] Just a beard?

[1:26] >> Yeah, just a beard.

[1:27] >> Yeah, yeah, I don't want a haircut live

[1:29] on the air.

[1:29] >> making sure you don't go crazy and then

[1:31] >> I'm a Nazarene. I keep that stuff. I've

[1:33] got all sorts of power tied up in my

[1:35] hair.

[1:37] Yeah, thank you. Thank you.

[1:39] Yeah, nice one, mate. All right. So, you

[1:40] give me a little bit of a trim. Now,

[1:42] while you're doing this, Derek,

[1:44] you mate, are you like me in recovery?

[1:46] >> I am. I went to Victory Outreach Rehab

[1:48] in California.

[1:49] >> And before you were doing that,

[1:51] I mean, I don't like I'm trying to pick

[1:52] my hair up at the wrong time. Before you

[1:54] were doing that, before you were at

[1:55] Victory Outreach in California, what

[1:57] were you doing then?

[1:58] >> Uh smoking crack and uh uh

[2:01] doing ecstasy and coke and anything you

[2:03] could think I would do.

[2:05] >> So but you've not been doing that prior

[2:06] to doing my any of my barbering, right?

[2:09] >> Uh no. No, not today.

[2:10] >> I just want a pretty much a crack-free

[2:13] beard trim.

[2:14] >> I got you. I got you. It's been a while.

[2:16] >> Well, what I will say is you've done

[2:17] that K-pop so hard on my throat, the

[2:19] carotid artery is shutting down.

[2:22] I mean, I feel like I'm going I'm

[2:23] getting woozy already.

[2:25] >> Bring up the kangaroo.

[2:26] >> Could still be because Timothy's in the

[2:28] eyeline.

[2:29] >> I actually watch Timothy all the time.

[2:31] He's great.

[2:32] >> What, he's got a TV show already?

[2:33] >> Oh, he's on everybody's podcast. He

[2:35] always talks about ancient aliens and

[2:36] giants. I'm a huge fan.

[2:37] >> Yeah, he's pretty great, isn't he? I

[2:39] mean, you'll have to watch that episode.

[2:40] There's a link in the description to

[2:41] that if you want to watch that now. So

[2:42] mate, uh what are you doing?

[2:44] What's this What's going on now?

[2:46] >> to I got to put me specs on, huh?

[2:47] >> Get Yeah, get your specs on. And what

[2:49] you just did there, that was a British

[2:50] accent, was it?

[2:52] >> Maybe.

[2:52] >> It was a hate crime is what it was.

[2:54] >> [laughter]

[2:55] >> Right. Now, where's Where's my beloved

[2:56] friend Christie? Because uh like I like

[2:58] cuz then Christie I I always feel

[3:00] comfortable when she's nearby. Now,

[3:02] Christie, will you come by here and like

[3:04] cuz what I like Me and Jacob working on

[3:06] a loose impression of Christie, aren't

[3:08] we?

[3:08] >> Oh, yeah, it's good.

[3:09] >> Please welcome back Christie and

[3:11] Anastasia straight out Bethlehem.

[3:14] She's Palestinian. She's Christian.

[3:16] She's got it all. Here, please. Thanks

[3:18] for Thanks very much for joining us

[3:19] again.

[3:20] >> No, it's my pleasure.

[3:21] >> Now, while I'm getting trimmed up here

[3:23] by a crackhead barber, would you

[3:26] What's going on now?

[3:27] >> Oh, that's the wrong one.

[3:29] >> You're toying with my emotions.

[3:31] Like a cat TOYS WITH A MOUSE. YOU'RE

[3:33] TOYING with me. He's toying with me,

[3:35] isn't he? You remember your microphone,

[3:37] Christie.

[3:38] >> Yes, sir.

[3:38] >> Keep Keep alert. Now, what's this in

[3:40] your back pocket? What's going on? Is

[3:41] that In my country, that's a sign among

[3:42] the gay community.

[3:44] >> Uh it keeps my hands clean.

[3:46] >> Well, it's making mine dirty.

[3:49] Go on. Just give us a trim then.

[3:52] Um

[3:53] Oh, hold on Oh, that's quite nice.

[3:56] You By the way, you've not asked what I

[3:57] want or anything. You're just going with

[3:58] your instincts.

[3:59] Like what you know, that I don't want to

[4:01] I don't want to look next time I look in

[4:02] the mirror to see a swastika shaved in

[4:04] it or something.

[4:05] >> Don't be scared.

[4:06] >> [laughter]

[4:07] >> So, an interesting item that we're doing

[4:09] at Derek. So, like have you got a Have

[4:11] you got a vision for this beard?

[4:13] >> I do. I want to compliment your face

[4:15] shape.

[4:16] >> Oh. Thank you very much. Well, well, how

[4:18] about you compliment my face shape right

[4:20] now?

[4:20] >> Just say I like your face shape.

[4:21] >> I like your face shape.

[4:23] >> [laughter]

[4:24] >> Yeah, go on then. Fire away, darling.

[4:26] >> Yeah, let's do let's do your stash.

[4:29] The sweet little

[4:29] >> Don't do the bit that's near my mouth.

[4:31] >> It's a sweet little stash.

[4:35] Oh, yeah.

[4:37] That looks good.

[4:38] >> The problem is is obviously it does

[4:39] impede my ability to communicate

[4:41] somewhat.

[4:42] >> But, that side's done.

[4:44] >> You've done that one? You're going to go

[4:45] around the

[4:46] Excuse me.

[4:46] >> Derek's also a rapper.

[4:49] >> Bloody hell.

[4:50] >> This video, you saw that video?

[4:51] >> He can't hold a microphone while he's

[4:53] barbering. I'll tell you that. So,

[4:55] whatever it is

[4:55] >> I'm a

[4:57] I do different stuff all the time, so

[4:58] >> Do you?

[4:59] >> I do.

[5:02] Oh, that's nice. It's good sound.

[5:05] >> Ow! That That really hurt, Derek.

[5:08] >> You'll be all right.

[5:09] You'll be all right, love.

[5:12] >> I'd say that was a a labial incision you

[5:14] just

[5:15] >> [laughter]

[5:16] >> It was on purpose.

[5:17] >> It was all right. I kind of enjoyed it.

[5:18] Now, when you like do Are you going to

[5:20] do the sides now? What's coming out now?

[5:22] It's getting a bit Sweeney Todd in here.

[5:24] >> I have to. I have no other choice.

[5:25] >> To get They're all cutthroats coming

[5:28] out.

[5:28] >> Yeah.

[5:28] >> Okay.

[5:29] >> Sure is. Just for you.

[5:30] >> Oh, man. This is it, isn't it? I mean,

[5:32] we're really creating a carnival

[5:34] atmosphere right here.

[5:36] And what's happening there? What's that

[5:37] appendage you've produced?

[5:39] >> You're not allowed to use an original

[5:41] straight razor anymore because it's

[5:43] dirty, because it's dropping the hone.

[5:44] So, nowadays all barbers have to use

[5:46] disposable razors.

[5:47] >> Mike them.

[5:49] >> Or

[5:50] >> that's the way it's nice and clean.

[5:53] Okay.

[5:53] >> I'm not getting anybody else's skin or

[5:55] hair.

[5:56] >> Okay.

[5:57] You can't kind of expect Christie to

[5:58] come over here from Bethlehem and then

[6:01] also Mike Barbara.

[6:03] >> What a shot this is.

[6:05] Oh, thank you very much.

[6:06] >> Actually, we can expect Christie to come

[6:07] here all the way from Bethlehem.

[6:09] >> Straight out of Bethlehem.

[6:10] >> Straight out of Bethlehem, yeah.

[6:12] >> Okay, so I'm going to do your cheekbone.

[6:13] So, no talking. Give me 5 seconds.

[6:15] >> Okay.

[6:16] >> Yeah, you're good in it.

[6:17] >> Do you mind if I sort of lean in to

[6:18] this?

[6:19] >> you're good.

[6:19] >> Oh god.

[6:21] Ow.

[6:22] >> You're all right, mate. I'm not going to

[6:23] hurt you. You're all right. You're all

[6:25] right.

[6:26] >> I'm

[6:27] very glad that this is part of the

[6:28] pre-tapes.

[6:29] >> Okay. Now I

[6:30] >> [laughter]

[6:30] >> Now we're going to do the other side.

[6:31] So, I'm going to have you turn for me.

[6:33] >> This is one of those ideas where Derek,

[6:35] you're not going to be turning me. I

[6:36] tell you that.

[6:38] Many have tried before you.

[6:41] >> [laughter]

[6:43] >> I think that's what you needed, man.

[6:44] >> I'll turn you back.

[6:47] Okay. Now, all I got to do is the

[6:48] bottom.

[6:49] >> Go on then. Fire away, mate. Christie,

[6:52] when you were making your way to the

[6:54] United States of America

[6:56] from Bethlehem, did this form part of

[6:59] any vision that you had for what might

[7:02] take place?

[7:03] >> You're reminding me of my dad shaving

[7:05] his own beard, no. On live TV, no.

[7:09] >> No. No, this is not something that you

[7:11] anticipated. And I'll tell you now that

[7:14] it's not easy to weave this live stream

[7:19] shaving into a conversation about

[7:22] proto-Canaanite theology.

[7:25] >> [laughter]

[7:26] >> How do you think I feel? Very odd.

[7:28] >> Well, I see you seem pretty confident,

[7:29] mate. You're freshening around my

[7:31] throat.

[7:32] >> You'll be all right.

[7:33] >> It looks good. Yeah.

[7:35] >> I think it's quite therapeutic to watch

[7:38] as well.

[7:39] >> I hope so. People do People have been

[7:40] incredibly patient. I mean, I've got

[7:42] quite a lot of the guests still in the

[7:44] audience. If only we had some sound

[7:46] balls.

[7:48] Oh, man. And a kangaroo.

[7:51] I mean, we could have left there Yeah, I

[7:53] mean, there have been episodes where

[7:54] we've had like wallabies patrolling the

[7:56] studios while we've done stuff like

[7:58] this.

[7:59] Um Derek, I'm very No, man. Not product.

[8:02] What's going on?

[8:03] >> This is a softener preview.

[8:05] >> Okay.

[8:05] >> Cuz it feels a little rough.

[8:07] >> Okay, well

[8:07] >> soften it up.

[8:08] >> I don't like that it's called secret

[8:09] sauce. That in itself is sort of a

[8:12] a perturbing name.

[8:14] >> to me. So,

[8:15] the owner told me to sniff the tip and

[8:18] say mazel tov.

[8:19] >> I don't know about that anymore, mate.

[8:20] We're trying to bring peace to the

[8:22] Middle East. You sound like you're

[8:23] making it worse.

[8:25] >> I mean, I could.

[8:26] All right. So, we'll put that in there

[8:28] right in the middle.

[8:30] >> I'm sort of like in a sort of like a

[8:31] mole kind of situation. It's quite

[8:33] layered, huh?

[8:34] >> It's actually really good. It's for

[8:36] hair, skin, and body.

[8:38] But I got to take the top off. I forgot

[8:39] the

[8:39] >> Oh, man. I'm pretty sensitive about

[8:40] that. I don't know if I want that on. I

[8:42] can feel a panic sort of I think I'm

[8:44] taking back authority. I'm taking back

[8:46] personal autonomy and authority. Ladies

[8:48] and gentlemen, please give it up for our

[8:49] Derek Ascher, the rogue barber,

[10:11] for details. Good work, Derek. Thank you

[10:12] very much. That was very impressive.

[10:14] Raised my temperature a bit to be in

[10:16] that cave. Christie, will you stay a

[10:17] minute? All right. So, thank you very

[10:19] much, darling. Thank you for doing that.

[10:20] It wasn't easy to do that with the

[10:22] microphone stuff. It was pretty

[10:23] challenging, wasn't it? You've got to

[10:24] keep your microphone there. Last thing I

[10:25] need to deal with is another person

[10:27] who's recalcitrant with mic technique.

[10:29] Good work, Derek.

[10:31] Yeah, you're good. Thank you very much.

[10:32] How Like, I've not seen myself yet. So,

[10:35] you didn't do anything dramatic today.

[10:37] You look all right.

[10:39] Thank you. Thanks, Jake. That's

[10:40] reassuring. That's reassuring. Okay. Um

[10:43] so, Christie, man, it's been like you've

[10:46] been you've stayed in this country for

[10:48] two or three weeks now. We've had you

[10:49] come on every time that we're here. The

[10:51] reason for this is because

[10:53] every time that you're on the show, I

[10:55] feel like I get a little more data on

[10:58] what I'd call uh deep deep theology. So,

[11:02] will you um today, I reckon some of the

[11:04] things that I'd like your insights on is

[11:07] when you have our our um

[11:10] Let's call him, for the sake of

[11:11] argument, an ecclesiastical Indiana

[11:13] Jones marauding around the planet in a

[11:15] safari shirt, uh digging up pyramids,

[11:18] hanging around tombs and stuff, talking

[11:20] about intergalactic alien warfare. And

[11:23] on the show, we've had Michael Peters in

[11:26] his peculiar sort of gnostic way taking

[11:29] us deep into scripture. And Gabe Lyons.

[11:31] We I'd love you to if you can, uh

[11:34] Christie, follow up on some of the ideas

[11:36] that have been there now that have come

[11:38] up over the course of these wild and

[11:40] caroming conversations. What do you

[11:42] think for a start about the um

[11:46] some of the

[11:47] Book of Enoch, Book of Daniel,

[11:50] Revelations references to

[11:53] interdimensional beings and how Timothy

[11:56] there is covering those things as a kind

[11:58] of you know, something that we're going

[11:59] to get empirical evidence of.

[12:01] >> Oh, wow. Um well,

[12:04] I wish I had a lot of time to talk about

[12:05] this, but what Timothy was covering was

[12:08] um I my what I bring to the table is

[12:11] slightly just more insight and color to

[12:13] the picture.

[12:14] Uh most of the substance is actually

[12:17] kind of obviously true, but what I would

[12:20] add onto the picture is that with

[12:23] pictographic form, you start

[12:24] understanding the meaning behind names

[12:26] and names usually given in Abba's

[12:29] kingdom as we understand um as a

[12:32] descriptive of your functionality and

[12:34] your role. And that's why I keep going

[12:37] back to the

[12:38] uh belief system that when

[12:40] Abba kicks someone out of his kingdom,

[12:42] he removes his name simply because

[12:44] there's nothing violent in him.

[12:47] And when he removes his name from

[12:50] someone, his functionality ceases to be

[12:54] of service. So, then they're out.

[12:57] And that's how I believe in why Jesus

[12:58] said, "I saw the one who wasn't to be

[13:01] named come out of uh

[13:04] Abba's kingdom because he was saying he

[13:05] doesn't have a function, in short. So,

[13:08] so go back to the Book of Watchers in

[13:10] the in the Book of Enoch um the first

[13:13] one. Um the sons of God was a reference

[13:16] by men to those beings that were angels.

[13:21] But what we're missing as well is that

[13:23] they were fallen angels. So, 1/3 of Abba

[13:25] had fallen. And I mentioned when I was

[13:27] on the call and on on the podcast a

[13:30] couple of weeks ago, is that there is

[13:32] their belief system that there are three

[13:34] different rankings of angels.

[13:36] Cherub, cherubim, seraphim, and

[13:38] teraphim. Now, the teraphim, the teraph

[13:41] is what we call as watchers.

[13:43] And they are the ones designed to be got

[13:45] our guardian angels. So, each one of us

[13:48] have watchers. Now, when 1/3 of Abba's

[13:50] kingdom had fallen,

[13:53] and a large number of them had fallen of

[13:56] those watchers, and then they were

[13:59] basically dark.

[14:01] Everything that they had was quite

[14:04] That's why they had the capability to be

[14:06] lustful. It was a pride. It was

[14:09] thinking like, so what's the essence of

[14:11] separation from Abba? It's basically

[14:14] being self-centered on your own inner

[14:16] world and and the disconnect within you.

[14:20] So,

[14:21] that's why that and that void That

[14:23] creates a void that you cannot fulfill,

[14:25] no matter what you try to use. So,

[14:28] that's why they basically went for 200

[14:31] of them. As we know, we don't know the

[14:32] numbers. Um

[14:35] hence we're invited by Abba to fulfill

[14:38] that number of the 1/3 of God's kingdom

[14:40] that had that had fallen. So,

[14:43] 200 of them, based on the Book of Enoch,

[14:46] had fallen. And after the fall, we know

[14:49] that those 200 made a pact on Mount

[14:51] Hermon.

[14:52] And then they became human beings. So,

[14:55] they are the only ranking of angels that

[14:57] can become human beings.

[14:59] Um

[15:01] Angels, archangels don't. Like we know

[15:04] Gabriel, Raphael, they all can manifest

[15:08] to some extent in a in a man-like form,

[15:11] but the only angels that could become

[15:14] human beings are or the ranking, as we

[15:16] know, are the watchers, which are the

[15:19] guardian angels, which are the teraphim.

[15:21] >> Yeah, they sound a little bit shifty,

[15:23] these guys. They seem like

[15:26] that they they might glitch into all

[15:27] manner of forms. See this place where

[15:30] you're, you know, generally speaking,

[15:32] living, Bethlehem. Is it one of those

[15:34] kind Is it to this day a thin space, a

[15:37] space where you feel like you encounter

[15:40] mystery and the supernatural?

[15:43] >> Absolutely. I'd say the whole land is

[15:45] and it's something about it that is

[15:47] cyclical. So, certain events that took

[15:50] place because I as I

[15:52] They didn't They didn't have a GPS, so

[15:54] then you when they were the Israelites

[15:56] must have entered by Joshua into from

[15:59] Jordan into crossed the river of Jordan,

[16:03] Jesus would have gone there to be

[16:04] baptized.

[16:05] Elijah would have, you know, ascended to

[16:08] heaven from there. So, all these like

[16:11] geographical places

[16:13] carry a certain flavor, almost like

[16:16] energy and rhythm that when you walk

[16:18] into them,

[16:20] you do get not just your imagination

[16:24] triggered, but also your whole being

[16:26] feels things in that land.

[16:28] I mean, on a superficial level, a lot of

[16:31] people call it the Holy Land.

[16:33] There's not a lot of holiness the way we

[16:35] think as in human beings are making it.

[16:39] We all wherever we go, like we have we

[16:41] bring our kind of wholeness into it. But

[16:44] there's if you if you strip that back

[16:46] and and the people who are living there

[16:48] and look at the spaces and the places

[16:50] and the events that took place there,

[16:53] you would feel

[16:55] a weight that I have never experienced

[16:57] anywhere else. That's quite more

[16:58] grounding. And almost every person who

[17:01] went there that I knew had a

[17:03] transformational

[17:05] experience, whether they were there or

[17:07] after they left.

[17:09] >> Yes. Yes, I understand

[17:12] because in itself this reference to

[17:15] bread, the bread of life, and this place

[17:17] of bread has transformation

[17:20] in it, doesn't it? The crushed seed and

[17:23] the raising and the incorporation of the

[17:25] ethereal or at least into air when bread

[17:28] rises. So, there is yes, a sort of a

[17:30] kind of a secondary accessible tune that

[17:34] you will

[17:35] that you can detect if you're present

[17:37] and you're awake there. Indeed, since we

[17:40] earlier on have a look at this clip

[17:43] were messing around with sound baths.

[17:45] All right, we're not messing around with

[17:46] them. We were immersing them, weren't

[17:47] we, Kenzie?

[17:50] >> [music]

[17:56] [music]

[18:08] [music]

[18:56] [bell]

[18:57] [music]

[19:06] [music]

[19:10] >> From that moment on, I've been in a kind

[19:12] of a different state. It's as if it's

[19:15] kind of brought into our presence a sort

[19:18] of an awareness of the sacred. I find

[19:20] that kind of this continual shifting

[19:22] between levels

[19:24] like exhausting. It's only when I listen

[19:26] to that noise I realize, "Oh my god,

[19:27] that noise, tune, harmony, sacred

[19:30] sound." Like it's only then I realize,

[19:31] "Oh my god, you're I'm exhausted. I'm

[19:33] exhausted. I'm doing this

[19:35] whole thing on fumes. I'm just like I've

[19:39] you know, I arrive here shattered and

[19:41] then like just sort of grab onto

[19:43] something and go like

[19:45] >> [laughter]

[19:45] >> Like and hopefully I can sort of like

[19:47] get 2 hours of content, but there's a

[19:49] point where it kind of runs out. And I

[19:50] think that's sort of what's happened.

[19:52] The reason that we keep talking about

[19:53] the apocalypse is because I think Are

[19:54] you still up there? Yeah, I'm still

[19:56] here, buddy. You get down.

[19:58] Um

[19:58] Like you know, the thing that I think

[20:00] that what we're all experiencing sort of

[20:02] individually and collectively because

[20:05] how could there be separation

[20:06] ultimately? Is that

[20:08] we are reaching what again Terence

[20:10] McKenna called the object at the end of

[20:12] time. It's as if we're being pulled

[20:14] towards something. Now when our man

[20:17] Timothy there

[20:18] a little earlier

[20:20] he said he was talking you know, when we

[20:22] make that transition and I maybe it's

[20:23] Michael. I can't remember. There's been

[20:25] so many so many conversations today. But

[20:27] when we move from chronos to kairos,

[20:30] we're moving into you know, in the Greek

[20:32] at least when and I I would love to know

[20:35] how that's handled in Hebrew or in some

[20:38] proto-Sinaitic language that you might

[20:40] have access to. We're moving into a

[20:42] different quality of time it seems like

[20:44] now. Like things are heightening,

[20:47] hastening, fluctuating.

[20:49] Like it's a hazy, fluxy, different time

[20:53] that we're moving into I sense.

[20:55] >> Uh we did discuss time and the idea of

[20:57] time together. Um and the concept of

[20:59] kairos is actually um after all is about

[21:03] an event.

[21:05] So we we're

[21:07] time as as we know it actually only

[21:09] exists within us. Because if you remove

[21:12] humanity, you'll just have the moon and

[21:14] the stars and we're circling around

[21:17] them.

[21:17] And there's no numbers and

[21:19] no seconds and no minutes counting it.

[21:22] We are the ones our bodies actually have

[21:25] the clocks within us.

[21:26] >> Yes.

[21:26] >> So, when when you talk about the idea in

[21:29] in in Hebraic mindset when it comes to

[21:31] time, actually time isn't as important

[21:35] as the event that defines it. And that's

[21:37] why we call a kairos moment. It's like

[21:40] something happened that defined and

[21:43] brought substance to that moment.

[21:45] Otherwise, that moment is quite a you

[21:48] can do with it anything you want and

[21:50] it's flexible, it's dynamic, it's and

[21:52] it's fleeting as well sometimes. So, it

[21:54] doesn't have the depth, but it's what

[21:56] you do in that moment when when you were

[21:59] born basically is the day that the the

[22:01] the the act of of you being birthed is

[22:05] what defined your birthday.

[22:08] >> Yes.

[22:09] As I mean there's just no question about

[22:11] it, Kristy. I can't quarrel with that.

[22:13] Me being there was absolutely

[22:15] fundamental.

[22:16] >> [laughter]

[22:17] >> November is just around the corner,

[22:19] which means it's nearly time for the

[22:20] midterms. Predict Market are predicting

[22:22] a blue sweep of both the Senate and the

[22:25] house. Get over to Predict Market and

[22:27] bet on the outcome. You can even bet

[22:29] state by state. Trade on this and other

[22:31] real-world events at Predict Market.

[22:34] >> And hey, I was thinking this

[22:37] because of you saying that the temple

[22:39] curtain torn asunder, some of the dead

[22:43] saints rose from their graves this point

[22:46] in the crucifixion. This for me has uh

[22:50] mm

[22:51] this is beyond tectonic shifting as of

[22:54] some subterranean flux occurs. The

[22:56] crucifixion then must be this

[22:59] determining event.

[23:02] >> Absolutely. It was a an end of a

[23:04] covenantal era and a beginning of one.

[23:07] Um so

[23:09] obviously um

[23:12] if we look at precedence

[23:14] when Jesus was experienced the ultimate

[23:17] form of sin, which is in my opinion

[23:19] separation, because he didn't have any

[23:21] sin in him. He went down to what we call

[23:23] this Sheol, which is a temporary place

[23:25] before hell.

[23:27] And he did

[23:29] preach to people who were in the Noaic

[23:32] covenant um well, Noaic time at the

[23:34] time. And um a lot of them believed in

[23:37] him, so he took them

[23:39] out of Sheol and took them out into

[23:41] well, let's say paradise

[23:42] heaven with him.

[23:44] And alongside of that, there was a a

[23:46] moment of the resurrection of some of

[23:48] the souls of the of the people who

[23:51] people recognized that they were

[23:53] known

[23:54] prophets or known, you know, um

[23:58] believers or or of the Hebraic faith at

[24:01] the time. And they were resurrected and

[24:04] walking around Jerusalem's cities. I I

[24:07] mean, I was streets. To this day, I

[24:08] don't understand why, but there was a I

[24:11] think a uh um

[24:13] um a sign to say that we are headed

[24:16] towards a different era after this

[24:19] covenant that we're not going to be able

[24:20] to fathom until we see him return here

[24:24] and see the manifestation of a new

[24:26] creation that we transcend

[24:29] our physical beings and our spirits can

[24:32] walk around freely

[24:34] outside of those bodies, but yet we're

[24:36] not there to to um manifest the

[24:40] completion wholeness of this until we

[24:42] come he comes back and and reconciles us

[24:45] with the new creation he's given us, if

[24:47] that makes any sense.

[24:47] >> It actually does make sense, and I was

[24:49] uh simultaneously understanding that

[24:51] while clocking that my beard feels

[24:53] different. Like I was like, "And also,

[24:55] my beard's transformed. I'm going to

[24:57] serum into dimensional facial hair

[24:59] experience. Now, hey, you know, like

[25:01] maybe did you ever see Carl Sagan

[25:03] talking about flat landers that

[25:06] book that Michael Peters told me about.

[25:08] Before we do that though, I make a

[25:09] podcast every Sunday with my wife.

[25:12] Here's a little bit of it now. You can

[25:14] watch it whenever you want to. Here's

[25:15] what it's like. Look, it's this is this

[25:17] is it.

[25:19] >> [music]

[25:26] >> You said this thing about shame a moment

[25:27] ago.

[25:28] And I was looking for something in I

[25:30] thought it was in

[25:32] Hebrews where he says

[25:34] "scorning the shame of the cross". I was

[25:38] looking at that. I might maybe in the

[25:39] end I might need a I might need a

[25:41] a phone for that possibly.

[25:43] >> would you like me to do?

[25:44] >> If you put into the search engine

[25:47] "scorning the shame" Oh, no, here we go.

[25:48] I found it.

[25:49] >> Oh, brilliant.

[25:50] >> Hebrews 12.

[25:50] >> Take that past.

[25:52] >> [laughter]

[25:53] >> Take that the past.

[25:55] >> Um, Hebrews 12.

[25:57] Let us throw off everything that hinders

[25:59] and the sin that so easily entangles.

[26:02] And let us run with perseverance the

[26:04] race marked out for us. Fixing our eyes

[26:07] on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of

[26:09] our faith for the joy that was set

[26:11] before him. He endured the cross

[26:13] scorning its shame.

[26:15] And sat down at the right hand of the

[26:17] throne of God.

[26:18] Consider him who endured such opposition

[26:20] from sinners so that you will not grow

[26:22] weary and lose heart.

[26:26] >> Nice.

[26:28] >> That.

[26:31] He doesn't give to you as the world

[26:32] gives to you.

[26:33] >> Mhm.

[26:34] >> The world is um

[26:36] sin always on the way in.

[26:39] >> Mhm.

[26:39] >> Is exciting.

[26:41] You at some point were invited in, were

[26:43] you not? Come this way for the money or

[26:45] for the excitement or whatever. And on

[26:48] the how does it feel when you're in

[26:49] there?

[26:50] >> Yeah.

[26:50] >> And is the general trend that it's

[26:52] decaying, deteriorating because this is

[26:54] the dark signature of the enemy, of the

[26:57] fallen one, decay,

[26:59] death. Or did you find out it's just got

[27:01] better and better since I took that

[27:02] Faustian pact? Since I did that deal

[27:04] with the devil, my life's getting better

[27:05] and better and improving. No, once

[27:07] you're in there, you realize it's not

[27:08] real.

[27:09] >> I think of I think of the immediate

[27:11] thing I think of is how much I sometimes

[27:13] so want to eat a McDonald's. And even

[27:17] when we go on those long drives, whether

[27:19] it was to the hospitals or whatever, and

[27:21] we're on those 10-hour drives, and it's

[27:22] like just right towards the end you

[27:24] cave, and you think let's just have a

[27:26] Wendy's or whatever.

[27:27] >> Would you

[27:28] You know when you've done that? Would

[27:29] you

[27:30] >> Yeah, when I'm telling Yeah, like when

[27:31] I'm saying Oh, no, we're not cuz I'm the

[27:33] one suggesting it. We're in the car,

[27:34] we're driving along, and then there just

[27:36] comes a point you go with good healthy

[27:38] snacks, and then just right towards the

[27:40] end good healthy snacks.

[27:42] >> Miserable little bag of seeds.

[27:43] >> I've got

[27:44] the seeds. I've got the seeds. I've got

[27:46] the water. We've got kombucha. We've got

[27:48] seeds. We've got the different type of

[27:50] beef sticks that the kids don't like cuz

[27:52] they've got organs. Cuz they've got

[27:54] organs in them. Awful things.

[27:56] >> [laughter]

[27:57] >> Anyway, delicious, actually delicious

[27:59] and very good for you. But

[28:01] >> Paul Saladino Yeah, those are really

[28:02] great. You advertise Paul Saladino.

[28:04] >> Oh, well, I will. They're great.

[28:08] >> [laughter]

[28:09] >> Mrs. Brown, are you saying from the

[28:10] stand that you enjoyed Paul Saladino's

[28:13] beef stick? I I'm Let me be clear. Do

[28:15] you follow me?

[28:16] So, his beef stick. Do you follow me?

[28:18] >> protein powder

[28:19] >> You like it.

[28:21] For the benefit, Your Honor. For the

[28:22] benefit

[28:23] >> Okay, stop.

[28:23] >> For the benefit

[28:24] >> No, stop cuz this this isn't an advert

[28:26] for Paul Saladino's stuff or

[28:28] >> Reborn.

[28:29] >> Reborn. No, but um the point being, when

[28:32] we get nearly towards the end of a trip

[28:35] and we've done so well, and you're

[28:36] nearly there, and you've maybe done a

[28:37] couple of loose stops, but you haven't

[28:39] You've eaten good food, and you're not

[28:40] going to do it, and you're not going to

[28:41] cuz I'm And then just right at the end I

[28:44] think I have to I cannot hold it any

[28:46] more. I need a double Whopper whatever

[28:48] it's called. You know they're called

[28:50] Dave.

[28:51] >> For your

[28:52] for your attention. Yeah. The Whopper.

[28:55] The Whopper.

[28:56] It's a Burger King product. No further

[28:58] questions.

[28:58] >> No. So, hold on. You can say

[29:00] >> The Whopper isn't Wendy's. No further

[29:02] questions.

[29:02] >> You spend way too much time there this

[29:04] week. Um no, at Wendy's it's called

[29:07] something like the double Dave.

[29:08] >> It's called the double Dave.

[29:10] >> It's called the double Dave. And it's

[29:11] really good. But it doesn't feel good

[29:14] after. I eat However whatever way you

[29:17] look, it's good when you taste it. It's

[29:19] good when you first eat it and then

[29:21] about I don't know, minutes after you

[29:24] finished it and you're greasy and you're

[29:26] trying to find out where to put the

[29:27] trash.

[29:27] >> eating it?

[29:28] >> Well, it's I

[29:29] >> Greasy.

[29:31] Still like a wild animal.

[29:33] I've [laughter] got napkins.

[29:34] >> I I yeah, but you have a particular

[29:36] thing for napkins. You like a lot of

[29:38] napkins and you don't like food on your

[29:40] hands. I however would just eat it in a

[29:42] normal way and then have to wipe my

[29:43] hands afterwards.

[29:44] >> Not normal.

[29:46] >> [laughter]

[29:47] >> Uh anyway, I don't feel good after and

[29:49] it does feel sinful. It feels like I

[29:50] just sort of knew that that wasn't the

[29:51] right thing to do

[29:53] for my body more than anything.

[29:56] I'm not saying and by the way, I don't

[29:57] want to shame even myself for that.

[29:59] There's nothing wrong with you know

[30:02] a secret or not a secret fast food meal.

[30:06] But is that what it's called, a fast

[30:07] food meal? Yeah, a fast food meal.

[30:09] >> Yeah.

[30:10] >> Yeah. Um but the feeling is of just

[30:12] trying so hard and then just caving and

[30:14] it not being not feeling good. And I

[30:16] suppose that's what addiction probably

[30:18] feels like maybe if you you know, if

[30:20] you've got a drink or drug problem, but

[30:22] you you mentioned the the process of

[30:24] addiction earlier on.

[30:25] >> Well, I certainly did. And also the

[30:26] process of sin. Always it seems

[30:29] appealing. And what I'm conflating is

[30:32] sin with worldliness and self

[30:34] simultaneously.

[30:35] >> Oh, that's the point. Sorry. The point

[30:37] is this is my point that I was going to

[30:38] make. You said worldliness. The reason I

[30:41] brought up fast food and the feeling of

[30:43] it being sinful is the only reason I'm

[30:45] thinking of fast food is cuz of the

[30:46] advertising on the side of the road. The

[30:48] worldly nurse of the the

[30:52] the the advertising on the side of the

[30:54] >> You're seriously suggesting that you

[30:56] don't have enough self-determination to

[30:59] resist a Wendy's advert and somehow the

[31:01] Wendy's sign itself is responsible for

[31:04] you wandering into the Wendy's, ordering

[31:07] a double Dave burger without might I

[31:10] even say even the courtesy to pick up

[31:11] some napkins and then be surprised that

[31:14] you're covered in grease. Let me finish.

[31:18] I'm agreeing with you. Follow me. I'm

[31:20] agreeing with you.

[31:21] >> [laughter]

[31:22] >> Russell

[31:23] >> You follow me.

[31:24] >> and actually I'm saying

[31:28] >> [gasps]

[31:29] >> Oh my gosh, you can tell we're tired,

[31:31] can't you?

[31:32] >> I don't think so. I think I'm pretty

[31:33] coming across as a little laugh or what.

[31:36] >> Okay, no, this is my point. I do have

[31:38] actually a lot of um I'm I'm

[31:41] disciplined. I'm in many ways in my life

[31:43] life I'm disciplined.

[31:44] >> Go on. Go

[31:45] >> But it's

[31:46] Oh my gosh, I mean well first of all, I

[31:48] get up in the morning, I look after the

[31:50] children in the way that I look after

[31:52] them. I'm disciplined in making sure

[31:53] everything's sort of clean and tidy. I'm

[31:55] disciplined in trying to cook nearly all

[31:56] our home-cooked meals so that we don't

[31:58] so eat we eat well. So given I'm

[32:01] specifically talking about food that

[32:04] cave of lack of discipline is because

[32:07] it's like oh Wendy's.

[32:09] >> That is a good argument.

[32:10] >> That's it. So there we go.

[32:12] >> Your disciplined that you win. Your

[32:13] disciplined as a wife.

[32:15] >> Yep.

[32:16] >> Like even if you're tested as a wife

[32:18] >> Mhm.

[32:19] >> You've been You've had some

[32:20] >> [laughter]

[32:20] >> few little tests.

[32:21] >> Oh yeah, I've had some tests. I I'm I'm

[32:24] I would say I'm just generally I'm quite

[32:26] disciplined.

[32:27] >> Yeah, fair enough. You win.

[32:28] >> I win. You're pushing an open door.

[32:29] Yeah.

[32:31] >> door.

[32:32] Listen to this [clears throat] from our

[32:33] beloved Paul, Corinthians 7 4:7. But we

[32:37] have this treasure in jars of clay. In

[32:40] fact, I'm going to start line it first

[32:42] earlier cuz it gives you "For God who

[32:44] said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,'

[32:45] made his light shine in our hearts to

[32:47] give us the light of the knowledge of

[32:49] God's glory displayed in the face of

[32:51] Christ."

[32:52] >> Mhm.

[32:52] >> [sighs]

[32:53] >> "But we have this treasure in jars of

[32:55] clay to show that this all surpassing

[32:57] power is from God and not from us.

[33:00] We are hard pressed on every side but

[33:02] not crushed, perplexed but not in

[33:04] despair,

[33:06] persecuted but not abandoned, struck

[33:09] down but not destroyed.

[33:11] We always carry around in our body the

[33:15] death of Jesus, so that the life of

[33:18] Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

[33:21] >> Mhm.

[33:21] >> For we who are alive are always being

[33:23] given over to death for Jesus' sake, so

[33:25] that his life may also be revealed in

[33:27] our mortal body.

[33:29] >> Mhm.

[33:29] >> So then, death is at work in us,

[33:32] but life is at work in you. So then,

[33:36] death is at work in us, but life is at

[33:38] work in you." Ooh, she's giving them a

[33:40] bit of a chastising. They've been a bit

[33:42] too lively. But I love this persecuted

[33:44] but not abandoned. That's so beautiful,

[33:45] isn't it?

[33:45] >> That's lovely. That's really lovely.

[33:47] >> I love I I love him so much. I was

[33:49] realizing Did you have something

[33:50] >> Um only because I was going to say I

[33:52] really enjoyed what we read today, and I

[33:54] don't know if it comes into today's

[33:57] Sunday service, but could maybe you

[33:59] could also say a little bit about this

[34:01] cuz I don't know much about this. I

[34:02] mean, but save that page cuz this is the

[34:04] bit I wanted to read.

[34:05] There we go.

[34:06] >> Thanks, Berry.

[34:07] >> Yeah.

[34:08] >> I think I told you a lot I was out with

[34:10] my mate.

[34:10] >> Yeah, you did tell the story about

[34:12] >> Say I was playing with Jake, Dave,

[34:14] >> Mhm.

[34:15] >> Joe, like a quadrant in a beloved

[34:18] friend's apartment.

[34:19] >> Yeah.

[34:20] >> And our friend Sarah is working with us

[34:22] and doing wonderfully well also.

[34:24] >> But you know, I hang with Joe a lot.

[34:26] Joe's the guy that's the security guard

[34:28] and like you know, the door and

[34:29] everything. I think funny man. Um but

[34:31] like um so

[34:32] >> That was written about.

[34:33] >> Well, that was covered.

[34:34] >> That's covered.

[34:35] >> Me and Joe were out like last week going

[34:37] to church at like well, I want to go to

[34:39] 12 step thing to catch up with people

[34:41] around here. We're in our country now,

[34:43] our own beautiful country.

[34:46] And like, um,

[34:47] so but my mate Joe, he's a 12 step dude,

[34:50] too, but he wants to be live by the

[34:51] river. We live by the river. And look at

[34:52] this beautiful bay window. This is our

[34:54] home. Look at all these beautiful cats

[34:55] sitting

[34:55] >> This cat's molting an awful lot. I'm

[34:57] actually I'm itching like crazy.

[34:59] >> what immediately comes to my mind when I

[35:00] hear people talk about

[35:00] >> Hives. No.

[35:02] >> Dander.

[35:04] >> It's the It's the dander. It's cuz she's

[35:06] elderly. So she's got there's quite

[35:08] >> It's all the dander.

[35:09] >> but I'm just saying it's not I don't I'm

[35:10] not always allergic to cats, but I think

[35:13] she's molting a little bit more and the

[35:14] dander is creating a bit of a

[35:17] allergic reaction. But I it doesn't stop

[35:19] me loving her.

[35:20] >> Nothing can stop you loving her.

[35:22] >> Nothing stops me loving her. I love her

[35:23] so much. But if you see me itching my

[35:25] eye and my nose, I have a little bit of

[35:27] an itch here and it's going all over my

[35:29] clothes as well.

[35:30] >> But what is it on your clothes, Mrs.

[35:32] Brown?

[35:33] >> Oh [laughter] my god.

[35:35] >> [music]

[35:42] >> Michael, do you mind coming back up

[35:43] here, please, uh, and explain Please

[35:45] welcome back to the stage Michael

[35:47] Peters. Michael Peters is an author and

[35:50] teacher. He's lectured at Harvard. He's

[35:51] done a thousand things. Michael, stay

[35:53] here though, Christie, cuz I want cuz I

[35:54] need your opinion. So keep hold of that,

[35:56] if you don't mind, my darling. And, uh,

[35:58] Michael, come and sit here in my seat

[36:00] and I'll

[36:00] >> Sit right in the middle where

[36:02] nature intended. Um, thank you very

[36:04] much. Michael, the reason I wanted to

[36:06] get you back for this All right, isn't

[36:08] it like I just want you like the people

[36:10] that have been in the audience for the

[36:11] entire show to just remember that the

[36:14] moment right I want you to do this in

[36:15] quick succession. The moment where I was

[36:17] talking to Nicholas outside, I want you

[36:18] to have that image. Then the bit where

[36:20] there was a beard being trimmed. Then

[36:22] the crystal ball. Like like there's been

[36:23] a lot of crazy It's been weird, isn't

[36:25] it? It's And and last week it might have

[36:28] been a bit weird. There was a wallaby

[36:29] loose at one bit last week. There was

[36:30] now been no wallaby on the floor. Look,

[36:33] there's an image of it. See, it's real.

[36:35] It happened. Michael, why is it that you

[36:37] think that that book

[36:38] See what See Christie, she's on one,

[36:40] isn't she? So, like we will talk to her

[36:42] about that Flatlands thing, please, a

[36:44] little bit. Explain to her what that

[36:45] book is, and what what Christie just

[36:47] said there about this inconceivable

[36:49] interdimensional sense of being that's

[36:51] transcendent in the same way that three

[36:52] dimensions is impossible to comprehend

[36:54] for a two-dimensional entity. Can you

[36:57] explain it to her? Oh, no, don't explain

[36:59] it to her. She already understands it,

[37:00] but like connect it.

[37:01] >> Should I repeat what you just said three

[37:03] three times [laughter] really fast?

[37:05] >> Basically.

[37:07] >> Yeah.

[37:08] All right. So, a way to describe this

[37:12] idea of being born a second time that

[37:16] the to share DNA with God as opposed to

[37:18] just the mammal thing. To be born a

[37:20] second time, you must be born a second

[37:22] time, Jesus said.

[37:25] To understand that is a little bit

[37:26] difficult for us, but the book Flatlands

[37:29] is basically a mathematical modeling

[37:31] book. If if you're two-dimensional,

[37:34] Flatlands, if you're a plane, say a

[37:36] piece of paper,

[37:38] and a sphere passes through to visit

[37:41] you. What what's it look like if you

[37:43] live on this plane, this two-dimensional

[37:46] space? Well, it looks like a dot that

[37:48] turns into a circle that turns into a

[37:50] bigger circle that turns into a smaller

[37:52] circle that turns into a dot, and then

[37:53] it disappears. So, how do you describe

[37:56] that if you live in a mammal world,

[37:59] if you're blind, how do you describe a

[38:00] rainbow? If you live in a mammal world

[38:03] that has not been born a second time,

[38:05] how do you understand the kingdom of God

[38:07] on Earth as it is is in heaven? You can

[38:09] see the good deeds, you can see the

[38:11] kindness and graciousness and wisdom of

[38:13] our God personified in Jesus Christ, but

[38:17] how do you grasp eternity life that

[38:19] always was and always will be without

[38:21] sounding like a Gnostic.

[38:23] >> Yeah.

[38:23] >> Right? So, the nature of it is you I

[38:27] will have this man be king over me. I

[38:29] will have the faith of Abraham. I will

[38:31] give my life to a God that asked me to

[38:33] break the idols and sacrifice Isaac if

[38:36] necessary. Not because he's masochistic

[38:38] or mean, because he wants us to trust

[38:40] him more than we trust ourselves.

[38:42] >> Mhm.

[38:42] >> The tree of knowledge is I want to be a

[38:44] God knowing good and evil. The tree of

[38:46] life is I trust the maker of the heavens

[38:48] and the earth more than I trust myself.

[38:50] I don't want to be a God. So, now I

[38:52] don't see this fear passing through as a

[38:56] dot, a circle, and then a smaller dot

[38:58] and then it disappears when I have the

[39:00] antenna, when I have the ability to

[39:02] grasp the concept of who God is because

[39:05] he shared his DNA with me. When that

[39:08] happens in the second birth, I'm now

[39:10] able to see, experience, and discuss

[39:12] some things that I wouldn't be able to

[39:15] otherwise. And I can lay down my life

[39:16] for others in a way I don't have to obey

[39:19] the command to love your enemies.

[39:22] No, because it's now in my DNA to love

[39:24] my enemies. It's not a command anymore.

[39:26] It's not a list of rules anymore. It's

[39:28] not a lifestyle. And so, now you you

[39:30] look to the the world religions and say,

[39:34] "There are people that want to share in

[39:36] the faith of Abraham. They want that.

[39:38] They know there's a God out there that

[39:40] made them, that formed them, and they

[39:42] want to trust that God." So, now we go

[39:44] backwards and forwards all throughout

[39:46] eternity. That's not Gnosticism. That's

[39:48] the story of who Jesus said he was.

[39:51] "Before Abraham, I was." Right? "I am

[39:54] the bread of life. I am the door." Who

[39:55] else said those things? And who else did

[39:57] what he did? Nobody else. So, he was

[39:59] what everybody was always waiting for.

[40:02] All of eternity, all of creation, the

[40:05] stones along the road bursting into

[40:06] praise. "I can make biological sons of

[40:09] Abraham out of a rock. But I want you to

[40:11] have the faith of Abraham. And if you'll

[40:13] deny your very self and come after me,

[40:16] take up your cross, then you can be born

[40:19] a second time and share DNA from heaven.

[40:22] That's exactly why Jesus was born of a

[40:24] virgin.

[40:25] That is why he was born of a virgin, so

[40:27] that he could demonstrate what it looks

[40:29] like to live in the full measure of the

[40:31] stature of one who shares heaven life

[40:34] with earth life.

[40:36] And we can share that life, explore that

[40:38] life, and share that life. And then when

[40:40] he left and was and risen from the dead,

[40:44] he then could scale and pour out that

[40:46] life amongst all of us.

[40:48] Right? So that that's why religion, to

[40:50] attend something, to believe something

[40:52] is a little lame. And I I'm not being

[40:54] insulting, I'm just saying it's lame

[40:56] compared to what he promised us. Rivers

[40:58] of alive water gushing from the inner

[41:00] man

[41:02] to all who believe. Really? I asked an

[41:04] 86-year-old man this, his name was Norm,

[41:07] um at a ice cream place called Bruster's

[41:09] in Knoxville about 2 weeks ago. He just

[41:11] walked up, oh we were talking about

[41:12] things like this at a table, and he

[41:15] said, "Uh man, I want in on this

[41:16] conversation." So, you know, as we

[41:18] talked about it, we talked about what

[41:21] all the things Jesus said to all who

[41:22] believe, rivers of alive water gushing

[41:25] from the abdomen.

[41:26] Well, you know, there's 50 of those that

[41:28] are something like that that Jesus

[41:30] promised. And I said, "You've been

[41:32] around 86 years, you're as fervent as

[41:34] anybody I've ever met in my life." This

[41:36] guy was cool.

[41:37] Very cool. I hope I'm like that if I

[41:39] make it to anywhere near that age. And I

[41:42] said, "Do you know anybody in all these

[41:44] years of being a passionate follower of

[41:46] Jesus that you would describe as an

[41:48] outside observer or they would even be

[41:50] capable of of describing themselves as

[41:53] rivers of living water, the dynamo, the

[41:56] torrents of alive water that can light a

[41:58] city?"

[41:59] You know, do you know anybody like that?

[42:01] He said, "I really don't." I said, "Do

[42:04] you know how sad that is? Because that's

[42:06] his promise for all who believe. That's

[42:10] not a superstar, that's heaven DNA come

[42:13] to earth. and as we squash the mammal

[42:15] life and and allow the the release of

[42:19] the spirit as Watchman Nee would say, as

[42:20] we open up our heart, break the

[42:22] alabaster jar of repentance of the

[42:24] brokenness of only God. Look what God

[42:27] has done. That kind of gratitude in life

[42:30] opens up the portals of heaven that we

[42:32] can experience in the sons of man of God

[42:35] can be manifest. We can live that kind

[42:38] of life with ever increasing glory as we

[42:40] behold him by the Lord who is a spirit.

[42:43] It's it's passive by the Lord who is the

[42:45] spirit, but our job is to behold him and

[42:48] trust him as we walk through the pieces

[42:49] the job as David said as as God said

[42:52] Abraham is to trust, not to do per se.

[42:56] That'll take care of itself if you

[42:57] release God to be who God wants to be

[43:00] inside of us. So, the second Adam

[43:02] brought a whole new race.

[43:04] He didn't instruct us as to the proper

[43:06] doctrine compared to the Hindus and the

[43:09] Muslims and the well, you know, that's a

[43:11] different story, but compared to the

[43:13] other world religions or even atheism. I

[43:15] knew lots of atheists at Harvard. But

[43:18] not a one of them ever said, "Wow, you

[43:21] know, if if if you met Jesus, who would

[43:23] you be? Who would you walk with? Would

[43:25] you be an atheist?" And they all said,

[43:27] "I would follow that man. I I'm

[43:28] attracted to him and with little I know

[43:30] him, I'm attracted."

[43:32] >> Thank you so much, Michael. I mean, I

[43:33] just think this is one extraordinary

[43:35] afternoon in the South Jazz Club that

[43:38] we're having here in South Florida.

[43:40] Chris D, thank you so much for joining

[43:42] us. Michael, thank you very much for

[43:43] joining us. Jake, thank you for your

[43:45] amazing work. And you, thank you for

[43:47] incredible patience and

[43:49] for your complicity today. We will be

[43:51] back next time not with more of the

[43:53] same, but more of the different. Until

[43:54] then, if you can, stay free.

Frequently Asked Questions

In this episode, the Watchers are presented as the beings tied to the fallen-angel story, and the discussion keeps returning to how they relate to the human world. Guest Christy Anastas is brought on to explore the theology behind the Book of Enoch, the Watchers and fallen angels. The transcript is partial, so readers should check the source text directly.
The conversation around 14:55 describes Enoch's ranking of angels as an ordered system rather than a loose group of spirits. The segment then moves to cyclical events, though the argument is cut off in the transcript. Viewers should treat the ranking as the guests' reading of the text.
Michael H. Peters joins the second half to discuss being born again, the resurrection, eternity and whether limited physical understanding can fully comprehend the Kingdom of God. The segment includes a reference to a passage from Hebrews and asks how a person grasps eternal life. The answer offered centers on the story of who Jesus said he was.
Yes. The episode description states that it is a paid advertisement for Rumble Wallet, and a sponsored segment appears during the show. The conversation about Enoch, the Watchers and resurrection is separate from those commercial segments.
Derrick Asher, known as The Skateboarding Barber, gives Russell Brand a live beard trim at the start of the episode. In the opening exchange he says he has been barbering for seven years. The trim is the cold open before the theology discussion begins.
Around 22:17 the conversation raises a Hebraic mindset about time, with Brand suggesting it may have a different quality than modern assumptions. The guests connect this to cyclical events, so time is framed as recurring rather than a straight line. The idea is introduced but not fully developed in the episode.
