  • Rigorous practitioners. Those trained in Vipassana, Zen or other disciplined traditions may find hypnosis-style guidance and affirmations too directive and too focused on self-improvement.
  • Anyone wanting confrontation or ambiguity. The teaching offers reassurance, not an unsettling of assumptions.

The Wider Tradition

She belongs less to the classical contemplative lineages than to the American blend of clinical psychology, positive psychology, New Age spirituality and self-help. Her closest relatives are the guided-imagery and hypnotherapy practitioners of the wellness world, with a further strand from the intuitive and angelic-guidance community. Her practice also runs through counseling, so she is a clinician who adopted meditation after seeing what patients needed, not a monastic or lineage holder who moved toward therapy.

That position carries both strengths and costs. She is accessible, practical and credentialed, but her work is eclectic, and the combination of evidence-minded therapy with channeling is her most distinctive feature and her biggest point of friction. Her teaching is best judged as accessible, supportive guidance for the person who wants help changing their inner life, not as a rigorous contemplative path.
