[0:02] Hey, good morning everyone. Nice to see
[0:05] you. Could you maybe all please switch
[0:07] to gallery maybe, not my big head.
[0:10] Like really a sangha I feel.
[0:13] Unless you insist. I'm just looking
[0:15] around a little. I want I like to get a
[0:17] feel.
[0:19] And in the meantime, why why don't you
[0:21] take a breath with me? Let's take a
[0:22] breath.
[0:24] With your mouth open.
[0:26] >> [sighs]
[0:28] >> Yeah, I see some of you starting to
[0:29] meditate. Don't. Relax.
[0:33] Just just like really spontaneous for a
[0:36] moment. Just be here.
[0:38] Just just very spontaneous, right?
[0:42] Spontaneous presence.
[0:44] >> [clears throat]
[0:46] >> Thank you for the hearts.
[0:49] Easy does it. Sunday morning.
[0:53] East coasters a little later than us
[0:55] over here.
[0:57] Once in a while I ask to take a breath
[0:59] for a refresh, to keep it truly
[1:02] to keep us intimate with spontaneous
[1:05] presence, the spontaneous presencing
[1:07] that we are. That's the meditation.
[1:10] Always being in touch with this
[1:12] liquidity of being.
[1:15] So sometimes say, I don't really care if
[1:18] you're an excellent meditator. I just
[1:20] want you to be profoundly free.
[1:23] Which means maybe it takes some
[1:25] meditation to self-liberate.
[1:28] And then
[1:29] being free among all circumstances in
[1:32] life. So this is it. So sometimes we
[1:36] meditate, we do certain practices.
[1:38] But we do it in the sunshine of
[1:41] knowing our beingness, knowing our
[1:43] awareness, being aware of being aware,
[1:45] being
[1:47] Being aware of being aware is kind of a
[1:49] satori and starts, right? And then
[1:51] it gets open and profound from there.
[1:55] So just notice that you're here. Let's
[1:58] Let's
[1:58] And then
[2:01] meditation often means there's right
[2:03] away there is a certain
[2:05] leaning into
[2:07] self-improvement. So, let's just take
[2:10] the perspective that the person we wish
[2:12] to be is already
[2:15] perfectly present right now.
[2:18] So, just feel into
[2:20] the all-at-onceness of of kind of your
[2:23] emotional field in the body not
[2:25] particularizing,
[2:27] not
[2:28] mhm shooting out to thoughts better
[2:32] instead um either that are inspired by
[2:35] certain
[2:36] experiences of the felt sense of
[2:40] our emotional field.
[2:43] I heard Eckhart Tolle call that the pain
[2:45] body.
[2:46] I sometimes feel nice emotions, too, so
[2:49] but
[2:51] I get the point.
[2:52] So, so relax.
[2:57] This is the practice.
[2:59] Let's call it the praxis. Praxis is more
[3:02] how it resonates in our life of being
[3:05] the loving, boundless, luminous presence
[3:10] of timeless awareness knowingly right
[3:14] now.
[3:17] And timeless awareness arising in time.
[3:21] So, this nexus of this timeless openness
[3:27] in time. What is this experience of
[3:29] time? That is the story, the resonance
[3:31] of the story of us.
[3:34] This apparent shimmering of
[3:37] this mhm
[3:39] ancestral field and our psychological
[3:42] history
[3:43] and hopes and dreams and
[3:47] worries kind of shimmering.
[3:50] But right here in this
[3:53] resonance of your body
[3:56] just feel the all-at-onceness of your
[3:58] body. So, natural body. And then in
[4:02] Sutrayana like, the radiance of the
[4:04] body.
[4:06] Notice that when you don't particularize
[4:08] any part of your body, you just feel
[4:10] this radiance.
[4:15] Let's take another breath.
[4:18] And let go softly.
[4:20] >> [sighs]
[4:21] >> You know, that's like, sometimes the
[4:22] llama goes out, "Pa!" right? To
[4:25] either correct the stillness of the
[4:27] meditation or call us back from
[4:29] distraction.
[4:32] So, my requests for breath
[4:35] are a refresh
[4:37] and then natural breath and energy
[4:41] and natural heart and mind.
[4:48] Just being here.
[4:50] Who or what am I?
[4:54] Who or what is it that's at the heart of
[4:56] all this experience?
[5:03] So, when we sit at the heart of
[5:05] experience,
[5:07] we start shooting out attention into the
[5:09] field,
[5:10] little laser beams at objects either in
[5:14] the
[5:15] in the in
[5:16] the inner mind, thoughts, feelings,
[5:18] emotions, and perception, and in the
[5:20] world around us.
[5:23] So,
[5:24] have Notice that attention always shoots
[5:27] out and is restless and starts
[5:29] cascading.
[5:30] And then, that's an
[5:32] part of the mind.
[5:35] Yeah, in So, Chen, we learn to discern
[5:37] between
[5:38] habitual mind and boundless loving
[5:41] timeless awareness, which is a field of
[5:43] being.
[5:45] So, right away, after feel know that you
[5:48] are aware, have it arise and mingle with
[5:51] the space all around.
[5:54] More like, being the field of being.
[6:01] This is your natural state, not
[6:03] necessarily in meditation.
[6:06] Not being distracted, remaining in the
[6:09] knowing of your being
[6:12] is the practice of meditation.
[6:16] Our life being the meditation.
[6:29] We truly are
[6:31] we cannot figure out.
[6:34] We can only be it.
[6:37] And in that moment of relaxing that
[6:40] we become the answer.
[6:44] Relax into excellence.
[6:50] Notice when you relax it's not feet on
[6:52] the coffee table relaxing but relaxing
[6:56] of attention.
[6:58] Can be an open field.
[7:04] And then
[7:05] everything
[7:07] all appearance
[7:09] all events
[7:12] all objects, all experience arises in
[7:15] this field without center and without
[7:17] periphery.
[7:20] And is suffused by knowing so the
[7:23] objects, the boundless field of being
[7:26] and the knowing
[7:28] this cognitive clarity
[7:31] is one unified field.
[7:33] Attention is at rest. Let things arise
[7:38] into the field and upon arising they're
[7:41] already known.
[7:45] Don't
[7:47] don't um
[7:48] modulate or change this.
[7:51] Let it arise and dissolve.
[7:57] And right there at the heart
[8:00] we allow this bit of desire
[8:03] to arise.
[8:06] The purity of desire.
[8:08] The desire that's at the heart of all
[8:11] desires.
[8:13] Notice that when we look into the purity
[8:15] of desire of any wish we have,
[8:18] it's the desire for beingness and being
[8:21] fullness.
[8:33] In a way, desire might be seen as a
[8:35] fundam- fundamental aspect of primordial
[8:40] body cheetah.
[8:43] And the wish
[8:45] for us to recognize this being fullness.
[8:50] And the wish then the the maturation of
[8:52] that is the wish for all beings to
[8:55] recognize this.
[9:00] And the
[9:01] Tibetan word for that is dompa,
[9:04] which is
[9:06] often translated as longing for. I long
[9:11] for this
[9:14] space of freedom.
[9:17] Arriving at this place where our own
[9:19] hearts and minds become a place of
[9:21] refuge.
[9:23] Right now.
[9:48] So,
[9:51] this
[9:52] usual desire from mind's perspective,
[9:55] the desire for objects in the world,
[9:59] >> [snorts]
[10:00] >> is liberated as the wisdom of perfect
[10:03] discernment.
[10:07] Yeshe is wisdom in Tibetan, and then
[10:11] they say kun tok yeshe, the wisdom of
[10:13] perfect discernment.
[10:15] But that discernment only happens when
[10:17] you relax attention
[10:20] and allow
[10:23] experience to arise
[10:25] in the openness that you are
[10:27] experiencing yourself as openness.
[10:33] So desire not as a lack or a deficiency
[10:37] but desire as a creative power.
[10:41] Desire not as kind of a single impulse
[10:44] but an entire field of orientation.
[10:48] And then we come together with that
[10:50] desire as a sangha.
[10:53] How beautiful on a Sunday morning.
[10:57] And then there is a sympathetic
[10:58] resonance between us.
[11:01] An amplification.
[11:05] We light up this Indra's net
[11:08] with this actuality of being.
[11:13] Even prior to skillful means of the
[11:15] Buddha in the world on your seat, just
[11:18] this resonance of liberation.
[11:21] We need you.
[11:24] Help us intensify in the collective.
[11:36] And then
[11:38] in this interconnected
[11:41] um field
[11:43] of
[11:46] oceanic awareness love
[11:49] then this desire
[11:51] um
[11:53] matures
[11:55] into languaging, sounding
[12:00] directly from timeless awareness, from
[12:02] the field of being, from the resonance
[12:05] of direct Buddha nature
[12:08] bypassing the habitual mind.
[12:12] And we start
[12:14] every sound and every gesture of gesture
[12:17] of us in the world
[12:20] is to facilitate the self-liberation of
[12:23] all those that we encounter
[12:25] and those that went before us like
[12:28] Amida
[12:30] his prayer was
[12:32] May you be embraced by infinite light.
[12:38] May fear dissolve
[12:40] in the radiance of boundless compassion.
[12:45] At the moment of transition
[12:47] may clarity dawn.
[12:51] May you awaken into luminous peace.
[12:56] May you rest in effortless freedom.
[13:01] May you be safe.
[13:05] May you be free from fear.
[13:10] May you be peaceful.
[13:13] May you be released into light.
[13:18] May your journey be unobstructed.
[13:22] May you awaken.
[13:25] >> [music]
[13:40] [sighs]
[14:53] >> Please identify this sweet resonance of
[14:57] your heart essence with its wish for
[14:59] happiness.
[15:03] No longer
[15:05] shooting out, looking in the world for
[15:07] happiness, but
[15:09] coming to rest in fulfillment that you
[15:11] already are.
[15:45] Remain in the knowingness of knowing,
[15:50] a wearing awareness itself.
[16:00] Allow any movement arise,
[16:04] completely free,
[16:07] and dissolve.
[16:09] Liberate.
[16:14] And from in that open knowingness,
[16:18] everything that arises transforms into
[16:21] its highest potential.
[16:24] It's purest potential.
[16:35] Did you remember che often said that so
[16:38] chain in principle is the teaching of
[16:40] primordial purity.
[16:58] So then when we get to know this space
[17:01] of freedom
[17:05] um
[17:06] >> [snorts]
[17:06] >> so intimately
[17:09] and we stay out the way and awareness
[17:11] awakens to itself, the automaticity of
[17:15] liberation.
[17:16] Then it starts sounding
[17:19] this direct sounding
[17:22] the resonance of the dharmakaya or the
[17:24] resonance
[17:26] of Buddha nature.
[17:37] So we start habituating
[17:39] sounding the song of self-liberation
[17:42] according to circumstances.
[17:46] And then in particular in our practice,
[17:48] maybe there is some mantra where we get
[17:50] used
[17:51] to staying brightly awake
[17:55] remaining in the field of being,
[17:57] sounding as the field and then we sing a
[18:00] mantra or something.
[18:06] So Dory, would you please open the page
[18:09] to that Dudjom Lingpa's last words.
[18:14] It's usually a prayer that is put up
[18:18] at the end of meditations.
[18:20] But
[18:21] I want to point something out. So,
[18:23] it goes like this. Nandro Rignag Nyam
[18:26] Cho Kyong
[18:27] Kudang Yeshe Rolpai Jamlepa Sapsang
[18:31] Ngayur Chimpo Nyamnyen La Sherme Takyer
[18:35] Takyer Rol
[18:37] Shik
[18:39] Appearances, sounds, and awareness
[18:43] expressing deity, mantra, and dharmakaya
[18:46] arise as the infinite display of kayas
[18:49] and wisdoms, realms of being and
[18:51] wisdoms. In the profound innermost
[18:53] practice of the great yoga, one taste
[18:57] indivisible with mind essence.
[19:00] So, look at that first phrase,
[19:02] appearances, so everything that arises
[19:05] in awareness
[19:06] and then sound and sounds is separate.
[19:11] I mean, you would think that's an
[19:12] appearance, too. So, wouldn't appearance
[19:14] in awareness be sufficient? No, it's
[19:17] brought forth separately. It's so
[19:20] important. It's the actual energy of
[19:23] liberation
[19:25] arising from heart essence, your heart
[19:28] essence, as you as the Buddha in the
[19:30] world in your unique
[19:32] capacity, everything in you uniquely
[19:36] qualified
[19:38] for the self-liberation of all those you
[19:40] encounter, and then you start sounding.
[19:44] So, then the sound
[19:48] becomes
[19:49] the sound of your voice becomes the
[19:51] the sound of the
[19:53] uh the Buddha liberating resonance of
[19:57] being.
[19:59] And then we maybe start with the
[20:00] primordial
[20:02] um resonance sounds. Don't worry, maybe
[20:05] page one. And we'll just do Om Ah Hung a
[20:07] little bit. Just to resonate
[20:11] with the with the wisdom syllables.
[20:20] Take your time.
[20:26] >> Natural breath.
[20:30] Natural energy.
[20:44] Yes, so.
[20:50] So, even if you not for a chant, just
[20:52] hum along a little. The Om resonating in
[20:55] the in the radiance of the of the body
[20:58] field.
[21:00] The Ah, the breath and energy, wisdom
[21:03] sounding in the world. And the Hum,
[21:06] the resonance
[21:08] of the Dharmakaya, the resonance of
[21:11] of the
[21:12] universe,
[21:14] of the whole unit of all possible
[21:16] universes.
[21:19] Om
[21:21] Ah Hum Benza Guru Pema Siddhi Hum
[21:27] Om Ah Hum Benza Guru
[21:33] Pema Siddhi
[21:37] Hum
[21:39] Om
[21:41] Ah Hum Benza Guru Pema
[21:46] Siddhi Hum
[21:50] Om Ah Hum Benza Guru Pema
[21:57] Siddhi
[21:59] Hum
[22:00] See if you can resonate directly from
[22:03] the field with the heart essence
[22:05] shimmering. Om Ah
[22:09] Hum Benza Guru Pema
[22:13] Siddhi Hum
[22:16] Om Ah Hum Benza Guru
[22:22] Pema
[22:23] Siddhi
[22:26] Hum
[22:28] When the heart essence is shimmering
[22:29] knowingly while you sing,
[22:32] liberation takes place.
[22:45] Om
[23:18] Please identify the resonance of love in
[23:21] your own voice and heart essence.
[23:24] resonance
[23:39] >> [groaning]
[23:49] [clears throat]
[24:02] >> Here is the openness and luminosity
[24:05] of sacred love. Om
[24:26] >> Ooh.
[24:33] Ooh.
[24:35] Ooh.
[24:37] Ooh.
[24:41] Ooh.
[24:47] Ooh.
[25:01] Ooh.
[26:59] >> Why timeless?
[27:03] Because whatever arises and
[27:06] dissolves and liberates,
[27:09] what remains?
[27:14] Timeless loving awareness
[27:17] is always there fully shining
[27:20] if you know it or not.
[27:59] You can identify timelessness by the
[28:01] constancy of the luminous field.
[28:08] It doesn't fluctuate in time.
[28:12] This moment,
[28:14] beginningless,
[28:16] endless.
[28:24] Do I dare say birthless,
[28:27] deathless?
[28:35] Can you
[28:36] experience your birthlessness and
[28:39] deathlessness?
[28:45] Relax.
[28:48] Let's take a breath together.
[28:52] Relax.
[28:53] Relax attention.
[28:55] Relax mind.
[29:02] Let loving awareness liberate you.
[29:04] Just step out of the way.
[29:41] Remain.
[30:31] Experience
[30:33] the actuality of your beingness,
[30:36] not a belief.
[30:39] As soon as it becomes a belief, doubt
[30:42] comes to the door, too.
[30:45] Stay open.
[30:48] Direct experience.
[30:51] Direct expression.
[31:27] And called the practice of
[31:29] non-meditation.
[31:33] Or to say
[31:35] the practice of never stopping
[31:37] meditating.
[31:47] If this perspective of your beingness
[31:52] feels very meditative, just feel into
[31:56] it.
[31:57] Can I live my life, express, and
[31:59] perceive
[32:02] exactly from this
[32:04] advantage point that you have right now?
[32:08] That is natural meditation.
[32:18] And then, sometimes it still feels a
[32:20] little like someone is having a
[32:22] meditation.
[32:24] Someone is watching the thoughts,
[32:27] the sounds, the feelings.
[32:30] Who is watching?
[32:34] And do not answer. Do not Do not even
[32:37] say awareness.
[32:39] Just look.
[32:43] Maybe the answer is
[32:45] I am.
[32:47] Or me.
[32:50] What is the feeling of being the
[32:52] observer?
[32:54] Do not think about it. Feel it. It's the
[32:57] felt sense.
[33:00] The wordless.
[33:02] I am here
[33:04] and everything appears to me.
[33:09] So first it was the me that was the one
[33:12] that was looking.
[33:15] Now that me is the one being looked at.
[33:22] So now even the observer becomes
[33:24] something that arises
[33:27] as known.
[33:30] It's arising in the knowing relax,
[33:33] right? Let it arise.
[33:35] This apparent personal identity as the
[33:40] witness of life.
[33:42] Let that arise in the field, too,
[33:44] without attention.
[33:47] Just known.
[34:03] So
[34:05] feel into it. Can you identify this
[34:07] observing or observer as another
[34:09] appearance?
[34:14] As another construction.
[34:16] Let's take a breath on that. Take a
[34:18] breath.
[34:20] Let go softly. Mouth open. Relax.
[34:23] Relax.
[34:25] Bright mind. Fresh mind.
[34:31] Yeah, we're not aiming at something
[34:33] nihilistic. Nothing left.
[34:35] Just notice maybe a little bit more
[34:37] fullness.
[34:39] Every time you deconstruct a little
[34:41] more.
[34:45] Maybe the center is gone a little bit
[34:47] more, so
[34:48] Here's a an old bond instruction. Open
[34:51] up awareness at the center.
[34:56] See if that does something. Open up
[34:58] awareness
[35:00] on your seat.
[35:03] Fast expanse.
[35:05] All saturating.
[35:11] Feel the freedom.
[35:59] Wide open awareness panoramic gaze in
[36:02] all direction.
[36:05] Not just gazing from side, but gazing
[36:08] from beingness.
[37:17] >> No longer needing trust or belief,
[37:20] but confidence arising from actual
[37:22] experience.
[37:35] Even though it's
[37:37] luminous, boundless awareness, love,
[37:40] timeless.
[37:43] It's not just fluffy, sweetie, lovey.
[37:47] It's all love, but sometimes the
[37:50] protector of innocence arises,
[37:55] strong and fierce.
[38:00] That's why there are loving archetypes
[38:02] and
[38:05] wrathful
[38:07] archetypes,
[38:08] deities,
[38:11] yidams.
[38:20] Don't collapse the vast expanse feel at
[38:22] your heart, arising the fierceness and
[38:25] strength
[38:26] of the protector of innocence in this
[38:28] world.
[38:56] >> [sighs]
[39:46] >> And then in in these traditions and so
[39:49] gentle tradition in Tibetan so gentle
[39:51] tradition in specific
[39:55] there are some
[39:57] profound teachers that
[39:59] wrote texts right from their being
[40:01] fullness.
[40:04] Like Longchenpa
[40:06] 14th century
[40:09] being full text that can only be
[40:10] metabolized
[40:13] not necessarily understood but just
[40:15] resonated
[40:17] from
[40:18] but by letting it arise in this field of
[40:21] being not shooting out attention
[40:23] figuring it out. So here a few sentences
[40:27] from him.
[40:30] He starts with
[40:31] I pay homage to the process of cosmic
[40:34] wholeness.
[40:37] From the very beginning in a state of
[40:39] harmony
[40:42] in the un originated clear light
[40:44] beginningless
[40:46] unmoving awareness itself
[40:49] is free of any fixation
[40:52] and is totally unbound spaciousness.
[40:57] At these are pointing out instructions.
[41:00] Experience it.
