Someone bought a ticket to your Saturday sound bath and now only next month's works for them. A swap moves their tickets to another of your events and keeps the money with you.
What a swap does
A swap moves an attendee's tickets from one of your events to another event you run. What they already paid becomes a credit toward the new tickets: the same amount a refund of those tickets would have returned. If the new event costs more, they pay only the difference, and the platform and processing fees are charged on that difference, not on the whole price again. An even swap costs them nothing.
What a swap can't do
A swap is deliberately narrow. It is refused when:
- The other event is run by a different organizer, or is priced in a different currency.
- The new tickets would cost less than the credit. A swap never pays money back, so a refund is the right tool for that.
- The other event is a draft, cancelled, paused, already ended, or the ticket type has no seats left.
- Either event uses assigned seating, or the ticket includes a room booking.
- It is the same event you already hold tickets for.
Setting a swap window
Swaps are governed by the exchange option in your refund settings for the event. When a buyer starts a swap, BrightStar checks that exchanges are enabled and that the deadline, set in days before the event starts, has not passed. Organizers and staff with edit access are not held to that deadline.
