Description
The Bones Remember is an online ceremony of drum, song, ritual, and prayer, held live as a two-hour circle for anyone who wants to come home to the heart as the season turns toward winter. It is led by singer-songwriter and ceremonial musician Ayla Schafer, joined by guest Dorrie Joy, and gathers people from wherever they are in the world through a virtual space.
The theme is ancestral memory: the sense that what we carry is held in the body, and that song and rhythm can help us listen to it. If you are looking for an online drum and song ceremony with a prayerful, unhurried feel, this circle is made for that.
What to Expect
The gathering runs for two hours and fifteen minutes in the late afternoon and early evening, GMT. It is a live circle woven from drumming, singing, ritual, and prayer, with the turn of the season as its backdrop. You join from your own space, so you can arrange your room, light a candle, or sit with a drum if you have one, in whatever way helps you settle.
The ceremony is recorded and sent to every ticket holder within 24 hours. If you can't stay for the whole live session, or your timezone makes the hour difficult, you are welcome to join for the part you can and return to the recording afterward.
About Ayla Schafer
Ayla Schafer is a multilingual singer-songwriter and ceremonial musician, described on her own site as a "Voice of the Earth". Her music weaves world folk and medicinal song, sung in Spanish, English, and Proto-Celtic, and returns often to memory, remembrance, and ancestral wisdom. She lives among the ancient wild lands of Dartmoor and is a mother of two.
A pivotal moment came in 2010, when she travelled through South America. The years away shaped her writing, and she learned from various indigenous traditions about the healing power of song. Since then she has spent years travelling and studying with indigenous traditions around the world, exploring the voice as a tool for healing, release, and self-knowledge. She began performing at sixteen and gained experience across the UK festival scene.

Before You Go
Your place includes live access to the two-hour online ceremony and the recording sent within 24 hours. No prior experience is stated as a requirement, and the format is open to anyone drawn to ceremony, song, and drum.
Places are offered on a sliding scale with three tiers, so that money is not a barrier to gathering. One tier reflects the true cost of the offering, one is reduced for those who need it, and one is for those able to give more and help hold space for someone joining at the reduced rate. If even the lowest tier is out of reach right now, you can contact the organizer, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Places are non-refundable.
