Vipassana
Description
Two residential Vipassana retreats in spring, a weekend and a weeklong, bring silent-style insight meditation practice to the Jesuit Spiritual Center in Milford, Ohio. They are led by Rebecca Bradshaw, Guiding Teacher Emeritus of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and hosted by the Yellow Springs Dharma Center. Meditators new to residential retreats are welcome, as are those with years of practice behind them.
Participants can choose one retreat or combine both into a nine-day Vipassana retreat for a longer stretch of continuous practice.
What to Expect
The two retreats are offered as separate options: a weekend of two days, and a weeklong retreat of seven days. Anyone who wants deeper immersion can stay for both and practice for nine days in total.
The days are built around the core forms of insight meditation: sitting and walking meditation, with loving-kindness meditation as a way to cultivate warmth and goodwill alongside clear seeing. Qigong is offered as an optional practice for those who want movement in the mix.
Rebecca Bradshaw gives Dharma talks during the retreats. There are also group meetings and individual meetings with the teachers, as well as question and response sessions where participants can bring up what is arising in their practice.

Before You Go
No prior residential experience is needed. The retreats suit people who are new to this kind of practice and those who have sat many retreats before. The retreats are taught in English.
Instruction in sitting and walking meditation, loving-kindness practice, optional qigong sessions, Dharma talks, group and individual teacher meetings, and question sessions are all part of the program.
Information on fees and scholarship support is expected to be released in February 2027.
