Spiritual Workshop
Online
Description
This online spiritual workshop is for single adults who want to build a happy, lasting romantic partnership. "Lessons in Love" brings together SkyDancing Tantra principles from Margot Anand and the relationship research of Dr. John Gottman, drawing on his bestselling book The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. It is led live on Zoom by Olga Ribble, a Certified SkyDancing Tantra Presenter, and meets across four Sundays.
The Seven Principles were written for married couples, but they have proven useful to partners at any stage. Here they are applied to dating: how to listen well, how to handle conflict, and how to approach new connections with clarity.
What to Expect
The workshop runs for four sessions of two hours each, eight hours in all, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Eastern time. Participants join from around the country, and the format is interactive rather than a lecture. Instructional "Do this, not that" videos set up the material, small discussion groups give you a place to practice new skills with other singles, and solo introspective exercises leave room for private reflection.
The four sessions build in order:
- Session 1: an introduction to the Seven Principles and their origin in Gottman research, the happy couples' secret weapon, and the practice of listening well. Presence and eye gazing are introduced as a contemplative practice.
- Session 2: the phases of relationships, and what distinguishes true love from early attraction. You will look at approaching dating with clear intentions, and at expressing emotions, needs, goals and dreams.
- Session 3: managing conflict and moving past arguments that keep repeating, then building fondness and admiration. The "Do this, not that" videos are reviewed with group practice.
- Session 4: applying the Seven Principles to dating and romantic partnership, and expressing desires, fears and boundaries. The final session closes with integration practices and a closing reflection.
