Description
A womb shamanism facilitator training retreat in Somerset, England, for people who want to learn to work with womb wisdom and to hold that work for others. It is led by Debs Stanley and takes place at EarthSpirit Centre in Compton Dundon, in the part of the Somerset Levels close to Glastonbury and the Avalon landscape. The retreat is presented as a Womb Shaman Embodiment and Facilitator Training, so it combines personal, embodied practice with preparation for facilitating.
What to Expect
This is a residential training of ten days, long enough to settle into the work rather than sample it. The retreat is known as Womb Awakening in Avalon, and the name points to its setting: the training is held in a place with a long reputation for pilgrimage, ritual and earth-centred practice.
The focus is on embodiment. Womb shamanism, as taught here, is something learned through the body and in the company of a group, and the facilitator element means the training looks outward as well as inward, toward guiding others in this way of working. Debs Stanley leads the retreat.
Attendees who want to know more about the teaching approach, the structure of each day and what the facilitator training qualifies you to do are best placed to ask the teacher directly before committing, as a ten-day residential is a significant step.
The Setting
The retreat is held at Little Earth, a self-contained eco centre within EarthSpirit Centre. It has single, twin and triple ensuite rooms and a large, light yoga space, which suits a training built around movement, circle work and rest.
Meals are vegetarian, made with locally sourced and organic ingredients, including fresh produce grown on site, and dietary restrictions can be catered for. Around the centre lies open Somerset countryside, good for walking in the pauses between sessions.
By public transport, the nearest train station is Castle Cary. Compton Dundon is a short distance from Glastonbury, so the Tor, Chalice Well and the White Spring are within easy reach of the centre.
Before You Go
Because this is a facilitator training, it suits people who already feel drawn to womb work, shamanic practice or women's circles and who are ready for sustained, immersive study. Plan for the full ten days, and let the centre know about any dietary needs when you reserve your place. Bring comfortable clothing for movement and floor-based practice, warm layers for the English countryside, and whatever helps you rest well on a long residential.
