Yoga Workshop
Description
Seed & Soulstice is a Winter Solstice yoga workshop at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in Washington, DC, combining gentle yoga, meditation and journaling. It is a community-based afternoon for anyone who wants to mark the longest night of the year with stillness, reflection and intention-setting, whether they are seasoned practitioners or new to yoga. It is led by Sihnuu Hetep, a Washington, D.C. native and yoga teacher.
What to Expect
The session runs two hours, from 1:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon. It is built around the idea that as the world quiets and nature's energy turns inward, our practice can follow the same rhythm. Grounding, gentle yoga postures are woven together with meditation techniques and time for deep reflection.
The solstice serves as a symbolic moment of renewal. Participants have space to look back over the past year and contemplate its path, then plant seeds of intent for the year ahead. Journaling is part of the experience, so the reflection has somewhere to land on the page. The atmosphere is serene and unhurried, centered on the stillness and inner warmth that winter can offer.
About Sihnuu Hetep
Sihnuu Hetep is a yoga teacher based in Washington, D.C., where she was born. She holds a 500-hour ERYT designation and is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. She began practicing in 2007, and found on the mat that she was receiving more than a workout. After the passing of her son, she committed fully to the practice, and self-exploration became an essential tool in her healing as she grieved and continued her motherhood journey. Her search for spiritual, mental and emotional healing deepened her understanding of universal truths about mind, body and soul. She completed her first yoga teacher training in 2011.
Away from the mat, she expresses her creativity through dance, writing, cooking and other art forms, and she enjoys time with her daughter, Yazi Blu, along with travel and meeting new people. Her classes blend traditional mindfulness techniques with innovative approaches.

The gathering takes place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 901 G St NW in downtown Washington, DC, on the 4th floor in room 401-D.
