Wellness Retreat
Description
Sacred Territory: A Winter Sanctuary for Women is a weekend wellness retreat for women who need time to tend to themselves. It is led by Jennifer Herndon, a yoga teacher and grief educator, and held at Thanksgiving House at Elohee Retreat Center in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, in the North Georgia mountains. Rooted in gentle therapeutic yoga, it is a quiet women's retreat for the coldest part of the year.
What to Expect
The retreat takes place in January, when the earth rests beneath winter skies. The invitation is simple: gather in the quiet of the mountains and listen deeply. The weekend is meant for women who have been giving to others and want a few days that belong to them.
Time together includes gentle therapeutic yoga, a slower and more supportive approach to practice than a vigorous class. The pace suits the season. Winter is treated here as a time for rest and attention, not for striving.
About Jennifer Herndon
Jennifer Herndon holds RYT 500 and E-RYT 200 yoga teacher registrations and is a C-IAYT credentialed yoga therapist. She is also a PTA, a Grief Yoga Teacher ®, and a Certified Grief Educator. That combination of yoga teaching, therapeutic training and grief education shapes the retreat's tone, which is gentle, attentive and unhurried. Her work with grief suggests a space where whatever a woman brings with her can be met with care.
The Setting
The retreat is held in Thanksgiving House at Elohee, a retreat center in the mountains near Sautee Nacoochee, in North Georgia. The setting is forested and quiet, which suits a weekend built around stillness and listening. Elohee hosts retreats throughout the year in several spaces, and this one gathers in Thanksgiving House.
Before You Go
This is a women's retreat, and it is open to anyone who wants a weekend of rest and gentle practice. The yoga is therapeutic and gentle in nature, so no particular level of experience is implied. Come as you are, with nothing to prove and nothing to fix.
