Wellness Retreat
Description
Sacred Fire is a six-day, five-night wellness retreat in the jungle near Tulum, Mexico, for anyone drawn to yoga, breathwork, sound healing and ceremony in a natural setting. It is led by Amy Lamborn and Richard Miller of Expansive Escapes and held at Casa Arkaana in Chemuyil, Quintana Roo. The retreat is timed to the Aries New Moon and is open to up to 20 guests, with no previous experience required.
What to Expect
Each day opens and closes with practice: Kundalini yoga, yin yoga and yoga nidra, somatic and chakra healing, breathwork and sound healing. Between those bookends, the days follow the four elements.
Arrival day brings a group transfer from Cancún, time to settle into the jungle, and an opening ceremony in the Temple. Water follows, with a swim in Cenote Yax-Kin and a day on the white sand of Xcacel Beach. Earth takes the group to the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum, followed by a Mayan clay ritual back on the land. Fire falls under the New Moon, with a traditional temazcal ceremony and a flower bath. On the Air and Spirit day, guests join the Making Our Medicines herbal workshop and a closing ceremony. The last morning is a final breakfast together before the transfer back to Cancún.
The program may shift with the weather and the group. Amy also offers an optional Human Design and Astrology session as an add-on.
About Amy Lamborn and Richard Miller
Amy Lamborn is a Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher and healing guide. She is also a Human Design reader and alignment coach, a guided imagery facilitator, a Reiki master and a sound healer. Her work centers on seeing the truth already alive inside each person, so that mind, body and spirit can move together in balance.
Richard Miller is the planner and explorer of the pair. He handles the logistics, the hidden gems and the small details that let a group simply show up, leaving room for adventure and good food.
The Setting
Casa Arkaana is a family-run retreat center on five private acres of jungle, about 20 minutes north of Tulum. A family lives on the land and looks after the guests. Yoga and ceremony take place in the Temple, and the grounds include a cenote-fed pool and a traditional temazcal.
Guests stay in a shared Jungle Casita or a Veranda Ensuite room with its own bathroom. Couples can book a casita or a Veranda room for two, and a small number of single rooms are available for an additional fee. All meals are prepared on site. The drive from Cancún airport (CUN) takes around 90 minutes, and a group transfer is included on arrival and departure day.
Before You Go
No experience with yoga, meditation, breathwork or spiritual practice is needed. All levels are welcome, and every activity is encouraged but never required, so you can step back from any session. People of all backgrounds and beliefs are welcome, and sessions are held in English. Participation is limited to adults aged 18 and over.
The price covers accommodation, all meals, daily sessions, ceremonies, transportation to all excursions with entrance fees, and the group airport transfers. Flights, travel insurance (recommended), extra nights, private transfers outside group times, massage, Janzu aquatic therapy, readings, gratuities and personal purchases are not included.
This is a retreat and hospitality setting, not a medical facility. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or take prescription medication, speak with a healthcare provider before taking part.
