Reconnect, Rest & Rewild Yoga Retreat, Kilima Gardens

Reconnect, Rest & Rewild is a 7-day yoga retreat at Kilima Gardens in Nanyuki, Laikipia, Kenya, set in the foothills of Mount Kenya. It is made for people who want to step away from the noise of everyday life and into something slower, wilder and nourishing. The retreat is led by yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner Alice Faulkner, who has taught at Kilima Gardens and chose this place because she knows and loves it.

What to Expect

The week combines yoga, deep rest, Kenyan hospitality and time outdoors. Past guests describe meditation and yoga twice a day, with space for journaling, and a Full Moon Cacao Ceremony that accompanied the week. Alice's classes blend movement with moments of pause. One guest remembered an animal-themed flow on the day of the safari, and another spoke of ceremonies that were carefully curated and flowed naturally.

Beyond the mat, the retreat includes adventures that guests have valued: a safari to Ole Pejeta, a visit to Nanyuki town, and a trip to the Mau Mau caves, where there is a cold dip in a waterfall. Care is taken to approach Kenya's cultural context with respect, including in how guests interact with staff and local communities. The overall rhythm is unhurried, with a mix of practice, rest, shared meals and exploration.

About Alice Faulkner

Alice Faulkner is a yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner based in Leeds, UK, who also works as an NHS doctor. She teaches Hatha, Vinyasa and Trauma-Informed Restorative Yoga, and has practised yoga for 10 years. She is trained to Usui Level 2 in Reiki. Her practice is rooted in personal growth, connection and a deep reverence for nature, and she is known for Yoga & Reiki in the Woods, a series of outdoor practices in Otley Chevin Forest Park.

Alice spent her childhood in Africa and has since lived in, travelled around and taught yoga in Kenya. That love for the land, its people and its culture is what inspired this retreat. Guests describe her as a thoughtful host who holds the space with care.

The Setting

Kilima Gardens sits in the foothills of Mount Kenya, near Nanyuki. Guests mention farm-to-table food, a sauna and the slower pace of farm life as part of the stay. One guest called the house itself the most amazing location.
