What to Expect

The work centres on ayahuasca ceremonies with master healers in the Shipibo tradition. Ananda's retreats include sacred icaros, the healing songs of that lineage, along with the traditional vomitivo and floral baths, and individual consultations with the healers.

Care surrounds the ceremonies. Ananda describes a thorough intake process, somatic preparation sessions, on-site navigation sessions and months of integration support afterward. Its programmes also draw on somatic workshops, art therapy, guided breathwork and integration guidebooks, with Ananda's medicine guides alongside.

The Setting

Ananda Lodge is a boutique eco-luxury lodge above Playa Grande on Costa Rica's Guanacaste coast. Ananda notes that the first four guests to book on its retreats receive second-floor suites.
