Spiritual Workshop
Description
The Open Heart Course in Cork is a spiritual workshop series in the Buddhist meditation tradition, offered by Rigpa Cork at Bru Columbanus in Wilton. It is for anyone who wants more kindness in their life and more resilience when things get difficult, and it is held in person in Cork, Ireland.
What to Expect
The course is built around questions the organizers put plainly: how would it feel to experience more kindness in your life, to discover more resilience in difficult situations, and to feel more at ease with yourself and others? It runs as a course over a number of weeks rather than a single day, so the themes have time to settle and grow through repeated practice and reflection.
Rigpa's wider programme in Cork gives a sense of the atmosphere. Their Time to Meditate sessions are dedicated to practising meditation, loving-kindness and compassion together in a group, and the Open Heart Course sits naturally alongside that approach. Expect a quiet, unhurried setting where practice is shared with others rather than done alone.
The Setting
Bru Columbanus is on Cardinal Way in Wilton, Cork, and it is where Rigpa Cork holds its regular meditation evenings and its workshops. The same venue hosts Kum Nye (Tibetan yoga) and meditation, Medical Qigong, and a day on making friends with our emotions, so the room is well used to people coming for gentle, contemplative practice.
Rigpa is an international community of students of Buddhist teachings, with groups across Ireland, including Dublin, Athlone, Limerick and the North Coast, and a retreat centre at Dzogchen Beara in West Cork. The Cork group is part of that wider family, which means the course draws on an established tradition of meditation, compassion and wisdom rather than being a stand-alone invention.
Before You Go
The course is introduced as being about kindness and resilience in everyday life, and nothing in its description suggests you need prior meditation experience or any particular belief. If you would like to meet the Cork group first, the weekly Time to Meditate drop-in sessions at the same venue are a simple way to see how they practise together.
Rigpa Cork's programme is offered in English, in person, and at a pace that is open to people coming from many backgrounds. If you are searching for a meditation course in Cork with a focus on compassion and an open heart, this is a grounded place to begin.
