Spiritual Retreat
Description
The New Year Retreat, "The Beauty of the Unknown", is a meditation and self-inquiry retreat at Naimisam in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It runs across the turn of the year and is led by meditation teacher Mukesh Gupta. It is for anyone who wants to begin the year in silence and quiet inquiry, with no background in philosophy or spiritual teachings required.
The retreat belongs to a wider series of gatherings that share one theme, the Living Flame of Silence. Each is an invitation into meditative self-inquiry: a gentle space in which a deeper source of Being can awaken, one that moves beyond the confines of fear and the restless ego-mind.
What to Expect
The days follow a harmonious rhythm of meditative self-inquiry, quiet dialogues, selected readings from J. Krishnamurti's teachings, small group explorations, silent sittings and contemplative walks in nature.
The retreat begins at 11:00 AM on the first day and closes at 4:00 PM on the last, a span of four nights that carries you over the start of the new year.
The organizers frame the purpose with words from Krishnamurti, spoken in Madras in 1952: when the heart is open, reality can come, and it is good to go away and stop not only the routine of outward existence but the routine the mind establishes for its own safety and convenience.
