Description
This online yoga workshop, Myofascial Yoga: Yoga Philosophy and Neuroscience, brings Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga together with current neuroscience research on meditation and the nervous system. It is Module 9 of the 200-hour Myofascial Yoga Teacher Training, and it is also open as a stand-alone workshop for yoga teachers seeking Yoga Alliance continuing education credit or for practitioners who want to bring myofascial yoga into their own practice. Myofascial yoga teacher Christine Wushke leads it live on Zoom.
What to Expect
The live session runs five hours, from 10 am to 3 pm Mountain Time on a Sunday. Christine takes a light, good-humored approach to the eight limbs, treating them as simple but far-reaching steps toward self-discovery. Along the way she draws parallels between classical yoga philosophy and scientific research.
The themes are practical ones: how spiritual practice influences the nervous system, why meditation creates real changes in the brain, and how these practices can bring more freedom, resilience and ease into daily life. The guiding idea is that yoga has long been a holistic practice of healing, and that modern science is now helping explain why it works.
Registration also unlocks six hours of self-paced video, audio and other self-study and practice guides, so you can begin before the live day and return to the material afterward. Access to the course content is for life.
The course package also includes replays of the bonus monthly practice sessions that accompany each module. These are held on a Wednesday once a month, and attending live is optional. They offer a chance to practice with community and ask questions about the month's content, and the replays are there if you cannot make the time.

Before You Go
The workshop is taught in English and held entirely online, so all you need is a device that runs Zoom and a space where you can sit and practice for several hours. No prerequisites are stated. It is positioned for yoga teachers in training and for practitioners curious about myofascial yoga.
You can take it on its own or as part of the full teacher training. It can be paid in full or in three monthly installments. Enrollment in the 200-hour Myofascial Yoga Teacher Training is sold separately, and the module does not include it. The workshop is eligible for Yoga Alliance continuing education credit.
