Healing Retreat
Description
Mito-Meno Restore is an eight-day healing retreat in Kampot, Cambodia, designed for neurodivergent women in perimenopause who are living with burnout that rest alone has not touched. It is led by metabolic health coach Hannah Anstee, with gentle movement and yoga from Rosa Mullen. Only eight women attend, each in a private room in a boutique villa set in a garden.
The retreat is built around the idea that burnout can be metabolic, and that the body can be taught to feel safe again. Days combine education in the science of the mitochondria and the Cell Danger Response with yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, tapping and Reiki. Women who live with Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, hypothyroidism or PMDD are specifically welcome.
What to Expect
The pace is deliberately low-demand. There is no expectation to mask, perform or share with the group, and nearly everything outside the workshops is optional.
Arrival is on the first day, with guests welcomed from 3pm and an opening dinner at 6pm. On each of the following six days the rhythm is much the same:
- 7:00 AM: optional gentle morning movement with Rosa Mullen
- 8:00 to 9:00 AM: silent breakfast
- 10:00 AM: metabolic health workshop with Hannah Anstee
- 12:00 PM: lunch, eaten at your own pace
- Afternoon: free for rest, bodywork, a hammock or local excursions
- 5:00 PM: optional gentle yoga or an energy workshop, on alternating days
- 6:00 PM: dinner
- 7:30 PM: optional wind-down with meditation, restorative yoga, Reiki or yoga Nidra
On the last day a private transfer returns guests to Phnom Penh. The workshops are meant to leave you with skills you can keep, including the principles behind the meals, so you can apply them at home.
About Hannah Anstee
Hannah Anstee is a qualified metabolic health coach who works with neurodivergent women in perimenopause. She describes herself as a burnout reclaimer, a late-discovered AuDHDer and a strategist for cellular energy. Her background is in social work, education and mentoring. Her approach comes from lived experience: years of chronic fatigue, perimenopausal brain fog, CFS and burnout, including time spent bed bound, before she came to understand her own Cell Danger Response. Learning the science of her mitochondria changed things for her, and she now helps other women do the same.
About Rosa Mullen
Rosa Mullen leads the movement side of the retreat: digestive yoga, mindful movement and face yoga, all offered to help the body move out of fight or flight.
The Setting
The retreat takes place in an exclusive private villa in Kampot, set among coconut palms, orchids and banana trees. Each guest has her own quiet ensuite room with solid wood furniture and cotton bedding, plus a private outdoor seating area in the garden. A concierge handles logistics such as pharmacy runs, market errands and arranging massages or excursions.
Food is vegetarian and prepared by a private chef, planned around steady blood sugar and without restriction. Breakfast is a quiet buffet of overnight oats, tropical fruit, yogurt and breads with toppings. Lunches might include mezze boards, miso tempeh bowls or stuffed sweet potatoes, and there are daily desserts. Safe foods, sensory needs and dietary requirements are arranged with you before you arrive.
Before You Go
No prior yoga, meditation or metabolic knowledge is needed. Guests should be able to walk short distances comfortably, and walking sticks are welcome. The villa is not equipped for wheelchair access. The retreat is not suited to anyone in a severe episode of depression or acute anxiety, or in burnout so deep that basic movement or clear thinking is out of reach. The retreat is held in English.
The retreat is alcohol-free, and guests are asked to reduce daytime screen use during sessions and meals, though WiFi is provided. It does not sell supplements or products.
Included are seven nights in a private ensuite room, three meals daily with all drinks, all workshops and sessions, private transfers to and from Phnom Penh, and concierge support. International flights are not included. Travel insurance with comprehensive medical cover is a condition of attendance. Massages, bodywork and excursions are paid locally.
