Meeting Grief with an Open Heart – Mandali Retreat Center, Quarna Sopra

Meeting Grief with an Open Heart is a five-day healing retreat led by Erinbell Fanore at the Mandali Retreat Center in Quarna Sopra, in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province of Italy. It is for anyone carrying loss who wants to spend time with grief in a quiet, held setting, away from the pace of everyday life.

What to Expect

The retreat takes grief as its subject and invites a gentle, open-hearted way of meeting it. It belongs to a retreat centre known for contemplative and restorative work, where programmes are built around stepping out of routine and turning toward what is present.

Mandali describes its retreats as spaces curated for deep insight, meant to catalyse meaningful shifts in everyday life. Its themed retreats offer a deep dive into a specific theme or teaching, led by expert teachers. A retreat on grief fits that spirit: a few days given fully to one subject, with a teacher guiding the way.

The Setting

Mandali Retreat Center is in Quarna Sopra, a village in the hills of northern Italy. Retreats here are residential, and the centre's own programme offers movement and meditative practices at a flexible pace, with a focus on connecting to oneself. The centre's wider calendar includes silent retreats, yoga, breathwork and teachings from several traditions, so the place is well used to people arriving with a quiet, inward intention.

Before You Go

Come with whatever grief you are carrying, whether it is recent or long held. Mandali offers retreats in several languages, so check the language of this one when you register. Rooms, travel advice and answers to common questions are available through the centre.
