Malte Marten
Spiritual Music
Description
Malte Marten brings his handpan concert to RaM-ArT Színház in Budapest, Hungary, as one stop on the Healing Frequencies Tour. It is a seated evening of live instrumental music and sound, made for anyone who wants to slow down, breathe and let the outside world grow quieter for a couple of hours. Listeners who know his handpan recordings from sleep, work or meditation will find the same atmosphere here, shared in one room.
What to Expect
Malte plays handpan, a steel instrument played with the hands, with a warm sound rich in overtones, a little like bells. He is joined by his trio: Conrado Molina on percussion and voice, and Bummela, a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Together they make a full, spacious sound that stays intimate even in a large hall.
The evening is shaped from beginning to end rather than assembled as a simple setlist. The music, the silence between pieces and the stories Malte shares all belong to one flowing experience. The concert lasts about two hours. Most shows on the tour start at 8 pm, with doors usually opening 75 minutes earlier, and the ticket shows the exact times. The intention is simple: no pressure, no rush, nowhere else to be, and a little more space inside when you leave.
About Malte Marten
Malte Marten is a handpan musician, composer and teacher whose music has reached millions of listeners around the world. His path began in 2014, when he came across a video of the duo Hang Massive. He sold the music equipment he owned as a beatmaker and DJ to buy his first handpan, and later played on the streets of Berlin.
From 2015 to 2020 he toured with his former duo, Yatao. Teaching became a passion alongside performing, and the duo gave workshops and retreats and co-founded the YataoShop, a place for people to take their first steps with the instrument. In 2021 the duo's project ended and Malte began his solo work, funding his first solo studio album through crowdfunding. His videos on Instagram and YouTube have since reached listeners worldwide. His work rests on a simple idea: music can create space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with yourself.
The Venue
The concert takes place at RaM-ArT Színház in Budapest. It is a theatre setting, and all venues on this tour are seated.
