Meditation Retreat
Description
Embodied Awareness Retreat with Louise Kay is a silent meditation retreat at Domicilium Meditation House in Weyarn, Bavaria, about 30 km south of Munich. It runs in two one-week parts that can be joined separately or together as a fourteen-day stay. It is for people who feel a deep call to settle into the present moment and spend time in silence and stillness.
The practice is Embodied Awareness, which supports the direct recognition of one's True nature and the integration of unprocessed energies and emotions held in the body. The retreat is not meant for those who hope to resolve particular life problems, such as relationship, work, money or health difficulties, to find direction, or to learn how to manifest.
What to Expect
The days are built around two sessions with Louise Kay, guided meditations, Q&A and silent sitting. Whatever emotions or sensations arise in the body are met with unconditional love under her gentle guidance. The aim is to dis-identify from the conceptual self and open to pure consciousness, alongside a community of like-minded people.
A typical day runs like this:
- 7:15am to 7:45am: silent meditation
- 8:00am: breakfast
- 10:45am to 12:15pm: first session with Louise
- 12:30pm: lunch
- 2:30pm to 3:00pm: silent meditation
- 4:15pm to 5:45pm: second session with Louise
- 6:00pm: dinner
- 8:00pm to 8:30pm: guided meditation
Each week begins with check-in on Sunday afternoon, dinner and an evening guided meditation. It ends the following Sunday with a morning sitting, a final session, lunch and check-out at 2:00pm. The second week begins as the first ends, so those staying fourteen days remain in the house through the changeover. Silence is kept for most of the retreat, and participants are strongly advised to stay offline and keep phones and other devices switched off. The schedule may change, and the format may differ from earlier retreats. Everyone receives downloadable video recordings of the guided meditations and group sessions. A livestream option is also planned for people who cannot travel, with extra silent meditations for online participants.
About Louise Kay
Louise Kay is a meditation teacher whose work centers on Embodied Awareness and explorations of Truth. Her gentle approach to spiritual awakening supports disidentification from a conceptual self, the release of unconscious beliefs and conditioned behaviours, and the integration of repressed emotions and energies in the body. Through self-enquiry and silent transmission, she helps people shift attention from the mind-made sense of a separate self to simply Being, and she invites them to allow transformation through surrender.
The Setting
Domicilium sits on the high bank of the Mangfall, in a forest location at the foot of the monastery village of Weyarn. There is a garden with a pond and seating area, and the houses have balconies and terraces suited to quiet contemplation. The surrounding countryside offers outdoor meditation, walks and hikes.
Rooms are clear, simple and comfortably furnished. Options range from single rooms to twin, triple and quadruple rooms, with private or shared bathrooms. Shared rooms are allocated by gender and assigned by the organizers, and specific rooms cannot be requested. Those who prefer to stay elsewhere can come as commuters or bring their own RV. Meals are simple, healthy vegetarian food, three a day.
By car, leave the A8 Munich to Salzburg motorway at the Weyarn exit; parking at the house is limited, so use nearby or village car parks. By train, take the Bavarian Regiobahn toward Bayrischzell from Munich main station to Darching, then walk about 20 minutes or take the local Mangfall taxi. The nearest airport is Munich, with Salzburg and Innsbruck also within reach.
Before You Go
Accommodation, three vegetarian meals a day and all scheduled sessions are included. Flights and airport transfers are not. Vegan, gluten-free and other special diets can be catered for at an extra daily charge, though the kitchen cannot guarantee every request, and the kitchen team will differ from previous years.
Bring an alarm clock, hair dryer, indoor slippers, comfortable clothes, earplugs and an eye mask. Towels and bedding are provided. Candles and incense are not allowed, outdoor shoes stay at the door, and no drugs or alcohol are permitted on site.
