Healing Arts Certification
Description
The Cymatic Harmony Sound Healing Certification Retreat is a six-day sound healing training at Maestro Valley on Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. It is for people who want to learn how to guide sound journeys for individuals and groups, whether they already have a practice or have never touched an instrument. Dan Byrne of Cymatic Harmony leads it in collaboration with Holistic University.
What to Expect
The training is built around the idea that presence, openness, and a willingness to learn matter more than arriving with every skill in place. You study how frequency, resonance, vibration, and instruments shape physical, emotional, and energetic experience, then take that understanding into practice by designing grounded sound journeys.
The certification curriculum unfolds in six movements:
- An introduction to sound healing and the principles behind it
- The art of facilitation, including presence, pacing, and holding a safe space
- Building a complete sound journey, from grounding through integration, with purposeful use of each instrument
- One-to-one and group facilitation
- Ethics and boundaries, including consent, scope, and emotional release
- Building your practice, from shaping offerings and pricing to communicating your work
This is not six days of lectures. A typical day begins with morning grounding and intention, then moves through sound theory and live demonstration, hands-on instrument technique, and journey design. Later come supervised one-to-one facilitation, group facilitation with peer feedback, and evening sound journeys with time for integration. Trauma-aware space holding runs through the teaching.
About Dan Byrne
Dan Byrne founded Cymatic Harmony in 2019 to share the voice of the handpan. His work grew into breathwork, immersive sound healing, retreats, workshops, and education. He has guided sound experiences at wellness retreats, festivals, community gatherings, family sessions, weddings, and creative events around the world. Central to his work is the belief that sound can bring us back into harmony, within ourselves and with one another.
The Setting
The retreat takes place at Maestro Valley, on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, among the land and surrounding jungle. Learning alternates with community meals and unhurried time outdoors, so the material has room to settle and the group has time to form.
Accommodation is limited and comes in several forms: a shared dorm, a private tiny cabin, a private pyramid, or a private loft with its own bathroom. The cabin, pyramid, and loft can be taken solo or shared.
Before You Go
No sound healing experience or musical training is required. Past participants have ranged from established practitioners to people with no musical background, and the curriculum begins with foundations before building toward facilitation.
You do not need to bring instruments. A wide range of sound healing instruments is provided for use throughout the retreat.
Included are the six-module certification curriculum, supervised one-to-one and group facilitation, peer feedback, evening sound sessions, community meals, and access to the instruments. Travel to Maestro Valley is not included. Final inclusion details are confirmed during enrollment, which begins with a conversation with Dan about your goals, your experience, and current room availability.
