About This Event

Description

Close Reading Sessions 2027 is a year-long meditation and study series built around Clarissa Pinkola Estés' book Women Who Run With the Wolves. Led by Sivani, it is a close, chapter-by-chapter reading of the book's myths and stories, held across 13 monthly live sessions. It is written for women who are perimenopausal, menopausal, chronically ill, tired or frustrated, and for anyone who senses a deep, wild part of themselves they can't quite name and don't yet know how to reach. The programme is connected to Ishtadev Niwas Ashram and Farm in Ta Ta Creek, British Columbia, Canada.

The series is open to everyone. Sivani's view is that the book is about awakening the wild feminine, and that this belongs to all people, men included.

What to Expect

The 13 sessions fall on the Saturday closest to each New Moon through 2027, so the year follows the lunar months. Each session runs two hours and takes a deep dive into one chapter of the book. Sivani brings questions, contemplations and poetry prompts to help you explore the themes and let them settle in over the following month. Each lunar month begins with a chance to fill your own cup before the reading starts.

Every session is live and also recorded, so you can catch the replay if you miss one. The series adds up to over 26 hours of video content. Monthly writing prompts support integration, and a syllabus of contemplations gives you something to return to as you read on your own.

The tone is conversational and practical. The aim is to demystify the medicine held in the book's myths and translate it for the present moment, rather than treat it as a distant text.

About Sivani

Sivani first read Women Who Run With the Wolves more than 20 years ago and has returned to it regularly since. She describes it as a teacher, a friend, a solace and a balm. She has taught Eastern philosophy and spirituality for the last 20 years and holds a Master's in Poetry. This series brings those threads together: contemplative teaching, close attention to language, and a long relationship with the book itself.

Before You Go

You can join for a single session or stay for the whole series. Paying for the full class costs less than taking sessions one at a time, and monthly payments are also available. An early bird discount applies to those who pay before the stated deadline. Pricing is in Canadian dollars.

Bring your own copy of the book, since each session works through one chapter closely. The sessions are held live and recorded, so participation does not depend on travelling to Ta Ta Creek.
