Spiritual Retreat
Description
Few professions ask so much of the mind as the work of reporting the world. Deadlines, breaking alerts and an endless stream of competing narratives leave little room to ask a quieter question: what state of consciousness am I bringing to this work? Beyond the Headlines is a spiritual retreat in Gurugram that makes room for that question, offering journalists, broadcasters and media professionals a chance to pause, reflect and reconnect with their own steadiness.
Organized by the Media Wing of the Brahma Kumaris, this in-person retreat takes place at Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram, Haryana, over three days. It draws on Raja Yoga meditation and the Brahma Kumaris' decades of work with media practitioners globally. The focus is not journalism technique or industry trends, but the inner life of the person doing the work.
If you work in print, broadcast or digital media and have wondered how to hold editorial integrity and inner calm in a fragmented information landscape, this retreat is offered with you in mind.
What to Expect
The retreat weaves contemplative practice with structured dialogue. Participants from across print, broadcast and digital formats come together to examine the consciousness they carry into their daily work. The program addresses three dimensions:
- Spiritual practice and inner development through Raja Yoga meditation
- Dialogue around values and ethics shared among peers from different corners of the media world
- Practical reflection on how these insights inform editorial decisions and newsroom culture
The emphasis is on truth and harmony. The atmosphere is one of unhurried reflection rather than instruction, a space to step back from the pace of the news cycle and consider what it means to work with clarity and integrity.
