Ayurveda Retreat
Description
The Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort in Amphoe Mueang Phuket, Thailand, offers Ayurveda retreats, yoga retreats and wellness stays for guests who want rest, detox or mindful movement. Programmes range from a short break of two or three nights to an extended Ayurveda stay of twenty-eight nights, and the resort also opens its grounds to visitors for a single day.
What to Expect
Every retreat follows a steady daily rhythm built around yoga. Two 60-minute sessions are held each day in the Prana Yoga Sala or the Ananda yoga room, and the week includes sound healing and pranayama breathwork sessions. Between practices there is time for the saltwater pool, the fitness room and the Himalayan rock salt infrared sauna, and the resort says total relaxation is always part of the plan.
The programmes lean in different directions. Some centre on Ayurveda treatments, including Panchakarma-based stays such as AyurYoga Panchakarma and a longer Ayurveda Medic+ programme. Others are gentler or more specific: a pure yoga retreat, a wellness escape, a burnout prevention stay, a juicing and raw food programme, and the Ananda Healing Retreat, which pairs Ayurveda with Reiki. Algotherm skincare is also offered. Treatments and meals vary by programme, so it is worth checking what your chosen stay includes.
Between April and October, the quieter Ayurveda Intensive Season, stays of seven nights or more can come with extras such as an Ayurveda cooking session, a guided sunrise hike to Promthep Cape, an Indian head massage workshop, beach yoga at Nai Harn, a market visit, a singing bowls sound meditation and a pranayama session. Some are weather dependent and offered once per stay. Longer stays and returning guests may also receive additional discounts.
The Setting
Guests stay in resort villas, each stocked with fresh tropical fruit that is replenished daily, copper water bottles with unlimited refills, and fast Wi-Fi. Breakfast is cooked to order with Ayurveda and wellness choices, Thai and Western dishes and a generous buffet. A cold-pressed juice station lets you blend your own fruit and vegetable drinks each morning. Lunch and dinner follow Ayurvedic and wellness menus, with an alternative non-vegan menu available, and fruit and teas are served in the restaurant all day.
A scheduled shuttle runs to Nai Harn Beach and local markets. Airport pickup is complimentary for stays of five nights or more during the Intensive Season.
Day Passes
Visitors who cannot stay overnight can choose from four day passes: Wellness, Weekend, Comprehensive and Yoga Privilege. All include use of the pool loungers, saltwater pool, fitness room and restaurant. Depending on the pass, they add scheduled yoga, a healthy Ayurveda or wellness lunch, a spa treatment, an Ayurveda consultation, a sauna session, or resort credit to spend on spa, yoga and dining. Yoga times vary by day, so pre-booking sessions and treatments is advised. Accommodation is not part of a day pass.
Before You Go
No prior experience is required, and programmes suit all levels. Instruction is in English. Each retreat includes a welcome drink and local sweet treat, a spa voucher, a complimentary poolside drink and 24-hour access to the pool and fitness room. Spa treatments beyond the voucher are extra unless your programme or pass covers them, and full board applies only to programmes that list meals. Seasonal extras require a stay of at least seven nights. If you must cancel after the standard period, your payment is credited toward a rescheduled reservation.
