Yoga Retreat
Description
The Awakening Awareness Retreat is a seven-night yoga retreat at Anamaya Resort in Montezuma, on Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula. Led by Jill Suzanne Foltz, it combines yoga, breathwork and meditation with journaling and daily workshops, for people who feel their days running on autopilot and want quiet to notice what is shifting in them. No yoga or meditation experience is needed.
What to Expect
Each day looks at a different part of awareness. The week begins with self-reflection, moves into sensing energy in your body and the space around you, and then turns to the signs and synchronicities that may be pointing the way. Jill weaves yoga, breathwork and meditation through every day, alongside a themed workshop and guided activities built around that day's focus.
There is time for journaling and for group sharing, so you can process what comes up and talk it through with others. The practices are gentle enough for beginners and deep enough for longtime practitioners.
Outside the sessions, the pace is yours. You can watch the sunrise over the Pacific, swim in the infinity pool, book a massage, hike to the Montezuma waterfall, snorkel at Tortuga Island or take a sunset trip to Santa Teresa. Or you can sit on your deck and watch the monkeys move through the trees.
About Jill Suzanne Foltz
Jill is a holistic teacher, retreat leader and lifelong student of human consciousness. For more than 25 years she has studied manifestation, meditation, yoga and natural living, with a focus on how our inner world shapes the life we create. She is a certified yoga teacher and restorative yoga teacher, a certified hypnotherapist, and a practitioner of Theta Healing, Reiki and Access Bars.
Before Costa Rica, she spent five years hosting weekend nature retreats in the mountains of Pennsylvania. She first came to Costa Rica in 2017 and has led retreats here since 2018. Her work centers on helping people trust their intuition and reconnect with the inner wisdom she believes is already there.
The Setting
Anamaya sits on a jungle hillside above the ocean in Montezuma, a small beach town on the Nicoya Peninsula. The region is recognized as one of the world's five Blue Zones, where people live longer, healthier lives than almost anywhere else. National Geographic named Anamaya one of the World's Best Wellness Destinations for 2026, and Forbes lists it among the world's best retreat centers.
Breakfast and dinner are served every day, along with a daily snack. The food is fresh, mostly organic and fully gluten and dairy free, with vegetarian and vegan options as well as local fish and chicken. Round-trip transfers from the San José airport are included on arrival and departure days. Guests need to arrive by noon on the first day.
Before You Go
Come on your own, with a friend or with your partner. The retreat is led in English, and all that is asked is a willingness to slow down and pay attention.
Included are the daily yoga, breathwork and meditation sessions, journaling, themed workshops, group sharing, breakfast and dinner, a daily snack and the airport transfers. Excursions, massages and other personal treatments are not included. Room options and pricing are handled by the resort's reservations team, who also connect guests directly with Jill.
