Description
The 7 Day New Years Retreat is a week-long yoga retreat held over the turn of the year at the Andean Yoga School in Písac, in the Sacred Valley of Peru. It suits anyone who wants to spend the New Year in the Andes, in a place built around yoga practice and study, rather than at home or in a city.
The Setting
Písac sits in the Sacred Valley, in the Cusco region of Peru. The Andean Yoga School is based here and runs residential programs in the town, including a 22-day, 200-hour yoga teacher training that includes meals, lodging, tuition and study material. The New Year retreat takes place in the same valley and under the same roof of teaching, so it draws on the school's own approach to yoga and Andean thought.
The school's wider offerings give a sense of its character. Alongside yoga training it teaches Thai massage with Daya Nimai Das, offers one-to-one pranayama practice, and works with the Chakana, the Andean framework for moving through the three worlds. These are the strands of practice that shape life at the school.
Before You Go
The retreat lasts seven days, so plan to be in Písac for the full week. Reaching the Sacred Valley usually means passing through Cusco, so allow time for travel and for settling into the altitude before the retreat begins.
