Yoga Teacher Training
Description
The 300-Hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Bali is a 30-day yoga teacher training at Tattvaa Yogashala Bali in Ubud, centred on the Intermediate Series of Ashtanga yoga. It is for yoga teachers who have already completed a 200-hour Ashtanga training and want to deepen their practice, their understanding of the tradition and their skill in teaching it. It is taught in English.
What to Expect
The days follow a steady rhythm that begins before sunrise and ends in silence. A typical day runs like this:
- 06:30 to 08:00: pranayama, meditation and mantra chanting
- 08:30 to 10:15: asana practice, in Mysore style or as a led class
- 10:30 to 12:00: breakfast, brunch, free time or study
- 12:00 to 13:30: yoga principles, philosophy and Yoga Sutra lectures
- 14:00 to 15:00: yoga nidra, rest and free time
- 15:00 to 16:00: workshop, study or guest lecture
- 16:00 to 18:00: asana practice, adjustment and body alignment
- 18:30 to 19:30: dinner
- 20:30 to 21:30: silence meditation, followed by mauna (silence) until morning
The asana work covers the Primary and Intermediate Series, with the Intermediate Series as the focus. Alongside it you study pranayama, including Nadi Shodhana, Bhastrika, Ujjayi, Bhramari and Sheetali, as well as anatomy, Ayurveda, kriyas, and the use of props, adjustments and modifications for students with injuries or limitations.
The philosophy modules draw on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, Samkhya and Vedanta, and cover Karma, Bhakti, Jnana, Tantra and Mantra yoga. The Tantric and mantra modules are set within a Balinese Hindu ritual context. The recommended reading includes Sri K. Pattabhi Jois's Yoga Mala and the Yoga Sutras in Swami Venkatesananda's translation.
Rest days leave room to visit Tirta Empul, the Tegallalang terraces and Mount Batur.
