Spiritual Workshop
Online
Description
Zen Precepts Studies is an online spiritual workshop from Red Cedar Zen Community, exploring how ethical conduct in the Zen Buddhist tradition becomes a path to true freedom. It is offered for people who want to study the Zen precepts as a living practice, whether or not they have taken them formally.
The workshop is held online, so you can join from wherever you are.
What to Expect
The title points to the heart of the study: that freedom in Zen is found through ethical conduct rather than apart from it. The precepts are approached as a practice to look at closely and bring into daily life, not as a list of rules to follow.
Red Cedar Zen Community keeps a wider body of teaching on the precepts, including its work on Precepts and Jukai, its Ethical Guidelines, and its Zen Precepts pages on ethics and safety. This workshop belongs to that same stream of practice and study.
Before You Go
The workshop takes place online, so you will need a device and a connection that lets you take part in a live session. Red Cedar Zen Community is a non-profit organization, and offerings are supported by dana, the Buddhist practice of generosity.
