Is there a 200-hour option focused on Ashtanga?

Yes. The schedule lists a separate 200 Hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training, which runs 19 days and is private room only at $1,999. There is also a 7-day Ashtanga Yoga Retreat at $600 if you want to try the style first. The standard 200 Hour is the better fit if you want a broader curriculum.

Should I do the 200-hour or a Goa retreat instead?

The Goa Yoga Retreat is a 10-day private-room program at $850, aimed at practice and rest rather than certification. Choose the 200 Hour if you want to qualify as a teacher. Choose the retreat if you want time on the mat without a training schedule.

Description

If you are looking for a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa, this is the Goa course from Tattvaa Yogashala, a school best known for its teacher trainings in Rishikesh. It is a residential yoga teacher training of 25 days, meant for people who want to study yoga in depth and begin teaching it. It suits those who want to take that study to the coast of India as much as it suits anyone ready to deepen a personal practice.

Tattvaa Yogashala runs the same training in several places: Rishikesh, Bali, Kerala, Nepal and Goa. The Goa program is the one for people who want to train in a coastal Indian setting rather than the mountain town of Rishikesh.

What to Expect

The course is 200 hours of teacher training, held over 25 days of continuous residential study. That is a longer stretch than the 19-day format the school offers for its 200 hour course in Rishikesh, so the Goa schedule leaves a little more room between the training and the day-to-day business of living and practising together.

Being a teacher training, it is a full immersion rather than a weekend workshop. You spend the better part of a month with the same group, in one place, working on your own practice while learning how to guide others in theirs. The school also offers a 300 hour training in Goa, a 30-day course, for those who later want to continue beyond the 200 hour level.

The Setting

The training takes place in Goa, India, run by Tattvaa Yogashala. Rooms are offered on a twin-sharing basis, so you can expect to share your room with one other participant during the course.

Before You Go

Places are taken by application. You apply to the school directly, and the course is offered in more than one batch, so you can choose the intake that fits your plans.

Because the course runs for 25 days, it helps to arrive with your time clear, so you can give yourself fully to the training and the people around you. Twin-sharing rooms suit people who are comfortable living closely with others for a few weeks.

If you are weighing the different locations, the practical differences are these: Goa offers a 25-day 200 hour course with shared rooms, while the Rishikesh course is shorter and also offers private rooms. The school's other locations, Bali, Kerala and Nepal, follow the same 25-day shape as Goa for their 200 hour trainings, except Bali, which runs for 22 days.

Common Questions

FAQs

The listing says Goa, but the organizer's schedule shows its 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training batches under Rishikesh. The only Goa programs on that page are 10-day private Yoga Retreats at $850. Confirm the location with Tattvaa Yogashala before booking flights or accommodation.

The standard 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training runs 19 to 21 days, depending on the batch. The 300 Hour is longer at 23 to 25 days. The 100 Hour is split into two 9-day parts, so you can complete it in stages.

The price depends on the batch and room type. The late-2026 batches list at $999 for a 2-sharing room and $1,199 for a private room. The 2027 batches list at $1,099 shared and $1,299 private. Ask the organizer what the fee covers, since the page doesn't spell it out.

Each batch on the schedule has an Apply button, which is the route to reserve a spot. Some 200-hour batches are marked Fully Booked, so check the status of the one you want. If it is full, look at the next batch in a later month.
