Spiritual Retreat
Description
The West Coast Facilitator Training, Live Part 2, is the in-person weekend of a facilitator training in the Passionate Ease (P/E) retreat community. It is led by Dr. Lawrence Conlan and held at the home of Dr. Patrick and Karen Chonzena in Snohomish, Washington, near Seattle. It suits people who have already taken part in Passionate Ease retreats and want to train as facilitators.
What to Expect
The training comes in two parts. Part 1 is online: two Saturday webinars, each running 9am to 12:30pm Pacific, and both are required. Part 2 is the live weekend in Snohomish, which is the gathering this page describes.
The live weekend has a clear daily rhythm:
- Friday: 2:30pm to 9:00pm
- Saturday: 9:00am to 6:30pm
- Sunday: begins at 9:00am and finishes in the late afternoon
Lawrence Conlan's Passionate Ease retreats focus on the primitive brain and its integration into the conscious nervous system. They use repetitive, non-competitive methods and a tender approach to human limitation. The weekends combine mindfulness or breath meditation with what he calls navigation at the "Sacred Edge."

Before You Go
Think about the prerequisites before you register.
- First Passionate Ease retreat: If this would be your first, you need four coaching sessions with Lawrence before you can register. He offers a free 30-minute consultation to see whether the retreat is a good fit.
- Returning after a long break: If it has been over a year since your last retreat, a Zoom session is asked of you as well.
- Deadline for new participants: Registration closes five weeks before the retreat, to leave time for the four Zoom sessions. Anyone may register early to reserve a spot.
- Cost: The fee is on a sliding scale. A deposit holds your space, and the remainder is paid at the end of the live weekend, in whatever amount works for you within the suggested range.
- Attendance: Both online webinars are required before the live weekend.
