Yoga Retreat
Description
Tide and Tribe is a seven-night yoga retreat led by Molly Cofman at Xinalani, an oceanfront retreat center in Mixto, Quimixto, Jalisco, Mexico, just south of Puerto Vallarta. It is open to all levels and blends restorative and yin yoga with vinyasa flow, with an emphasis on rest and restoration.
The week suits people who want to slow down in a setting between the jungle and the Pacific Ocean, practice alongside a like-minded community, and have the details of the stay looked after.
What to Expect
Tide and Tribe is a restorative yoga retreat built around Restorative / Yin and Vinyasa Flow, within a rest-and-restore theme. Each retreat at Xinalani has its own rhythm, and days generally move between practice, nourishing meals, ocean time, quieter moments, and space to simply be.
A typical day at Xinalani unfolds like this:
- 8 AM: Morning yoga by the ocean, all-levels practice meant to move, energize, and awaken the body.
- 10 AM: Breakfast of fresh tropical fruit, homemade pastries, Mexican favorites, and healthy options.
- 12 PM: Free time to swim, relax by the pool, use the wellness area, or book a massage.
- 2 PM: Lunch of fresh, seasonal dishes on the oceanfront terrace.
- 5 PM: Restorative yoga, meditation, cacao, or another mindful practice to slow down and reset.
- 7 PM: Sunset over Banderas Bay, then dinner of fresh local cuisine and homemade desserts.
Your retreat's own schedule may vary from this general daily rhythm, but the balance of movement and rest stays at its center.

The Setting
Xinalani sits on the coast south of Puerto Vallarta, between the jungle and the ocean, and looks out over Banderas Bay. Meals are served on an oceanfront terrace, and the property has a pool and a wellness area where massages can be booked.
Rooms come in several categories, each designed for rest and a closer connection to the surrounding nature:
- Beach Casita: the most spacious and private option, steps from the beach, with a king bed, private terrace, plunge pool, ocean views, and A/C.
- Eco Chic Treehouse: an open-air stay above the jungle with a king bed or two double beds, a private terrace with hammock, and ocean and jungle views. A/C or open-air options are available.
- Deluxe Room: a cozy room with a king bed or two twin beds, a private terrace with a small hammock, and ocean and jungle views. A/C or open-air options are available.
- Small and Big Palapa: open-air shared palapas with four or eight individual beds, a private terrace, and ocean and jungle views, the most accessible way to stay.
Before You Go
The retreat is open to all levels, so no prior experience is needed. Xinalani takes care of the stay, meals, and surrounding details, leaving you free to practice and rest. Beyond the daily classes, guests can explore wellness experiences, ocean adventures, and nature activities, or keep the time quiet and their own.
