Meditation Retreat
Description
The Path of Meditation and Embodiment is a meditation retreat at Drala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. It is open to people across the range of experience, from beginners to advanced students, and sits within the center's year-round programs of Shambhala teachings, body awareness practices, contemplative arts and mindful living.
Drala Mountain Center has hosted gatherings for more than 50 years. Its programs are taught by accomplished practitioners and teachers, and the center describes its offerings as paths of personal transformation that draw on Shambhala teachings and indigenous wisdom traditions as well as embodiment practice.
The Setting
The retreat takes place on the land at Drala Mountain Center, in the mountains near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. The grounds include eight miles of wilderness trails and the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, which visitors to the center walk to, sit near and meditate beside. People who stay at the center describe the setting as well suited to quiet reflection, whether alone, with a loved one or with a group of friends.
Guests who come for a stay at the center can expect lodging on site and three healthy meals a day. Lodging types have included lodge dorms and lodge singles. Specific room options and meal arrangements for this retreat are best confirmed at registration.
Before You Go
The center welcomes people at every level, so no prior meditation background is needed to take part in its programs. Many guests spend free time hiking, reading under a tree, journaling, practicing yoga or simply resting between sessions, and you may want to pack comfortable clothing for sitting, walking shoes for the trails and layers for mountain weather.
If you would like more time on the land than the program itself offers, the center also runs self-guided retreats for solo stays, which many people use to extend a visit.
