Wellness Retreat
Description
This women's wellness retreat is a three-day, two-night weekend of gentle yoga, meditation, sound healing and rest, held at Amarant in Don Valley, in Victoria's Yarra Valley. It is led by yoga and meditation teacher Ilana Kosakiewicz, and it is made for women who are tired, stretched thin and ready to put themselves on the list for a few days. Women aged 16 and over are welcome, and the group is kept to a maximum of twelve.
What to Expect
The weekend begins on Friday at midday with arrival, a welcome and lunch. An afternoon workshop follows, then dinner and a quiet evening unwind. You set an intention and journal early on, so the busy thoughts have somewhere to land before the slower practices begin.
Saturday starts with gentle yoga at 7:30 am, then breakfast and a morning workshop. Yoga nidra comes at midday, and after lunch the afternoon is left open until afternoon tea. In the evening there is a women's circle, dinner, and a new moon ritual. Sunday opens with gentle yoga and a final workshop, followed by brunch and a closing circle, with departure at 12 pm.
The yoga is hatha, yin and restorative, slow and gentle. Alongside it you will find daily meditation, guided yoga nidra, sound healing and a cacao ceremony. Free time is built in for resting, napping, walking, reading, journaling or sitting by the fire. Every session is optional, so you can step in and out as your body asks. The aim is to leave with practical tools for bringing more calm and intention into daily life.
About Ilana Kosakiewicz
Ilana Kosakiewicz is a kinesiologist, energy coach and mentor (reiki and more), as well as a yoga and meditation teacher. Her mission is to help women slow down to vibe up. Her path began in the corporate world, where she spent more than 12 years as an accountant. In the week of her 30th birthday she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue and a Lyme-like disease, after years of looking well on the outside while running on empty. She came to see that diagnosis as a message to wake up, and it led her to the work she teaches today. She created this retreat around what she craves herself: quiet, whole food, yoga, deep breathing, nature and time with like-minded women.
The Setting
Amarant sits on 25 acres of rainforest in Don Valley. The house and yoga space are built to feel like a treehouse, with wide views down the valley. Walking paths, gardens, picnic areas, a spring and plenty of wildlife surround the property, and guests can also venture out into the wider Yarra Valley. It is about 1.5 to 2 hours from Melbourne's CBD, and about 1.5 hours from the Latrobe Valley in Gippsland.
Rooms are available as private, twin share or triple share, and there is also a loft share room reached by an internal ladder. Meals are vegetarian, with vegan and gluten free variations, and snacks and treats are unlimited.
