Description
This Peru yoga retreat is an eight-day, seven-night cultural immersion in the Sacred Valley of the Andes, led by Jessanya Buggenhagen and Alina Kazandjian, E-RYT 500, of Lotus Retreats. It suits yoga practitioners who want more than a studio week: time spent with Andean culture, ceremony and the land itself, based at Willka T'ika, Paradero Rumichaka.
What to Expect
The retreat blends yoga, meditation, mindfulness and movement with a close look at the Andean "Cosmovision," the worldview in which people live in right relationship with all creation. This principle is known as Ayni, and it runs through the week as both a teaching and a way of moving through the valley.
You take part in traditional ceremony and healings, and visit ancient sites including Machu Picchu, Pisac and Cusco, among other places. The program is grounded in philosophy and in connection to the ancestry of Andean culture. The group is kept intimate, so the pace allows for conversation and reflection as well as practice.
Lotus Retreats curated the gathering with original support from a number of women who drew on their own experiences of the magic they felt in Peru.
About Jessanya Buggenhagen and Alina Kazandjian
Jessanya Buggenhagen and Alina Kazandjian co-lead the retreat through Lotus Retreats. Alina Kazandjian holds the E-RYT 500 designation, the Yoga Alliance credential for experienced teachers with advanced training and teaching hours.
The Setting
The retreat takes place in the Sacred Valley of Peru, with Willka T'ika at Paradero Rumichaka as the place the gathering is held. The surrounding landscape and the ruins you visit are part of the teaching, not just a backdrop.
Before You Go
This is a full cultural and ceremonial program as well as a yoga retreat, so come ready to participate in both. Registration and further details, including what is included, are handled through the organizer, Lotus Retreats.
