Malte Marten
Spiritual Music
Description
Malte Marten Handpan Concert at Troxy is a sound healing concert in London, part of the Healing Frequencies Tour. It is made for anyone who wants two hours to slow down, let go and listen: people who already play his music to fall asleep, work or meditate, and those curious about the handpan in a live setting. Malte Marten plays handpan with his trio, in the seated surroundings of Troxy in East London.
What to Expect
The handpan sits at the centre of the evening. Malte is joined by Conrado Molina on percussion and voice, and by Bummela, a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Together they make a rich, spacious sound that is meant to feel intimate even in a large room.
The show is shaped from beginning to end rather than assembled as a list of songs. The music, the silence between pieces and the stories Malte shares all belong to one flowing experience. The concert lasts about two hours, with no pressure and nowhere else to be, just music, presence and room to breathe. Most shows on the tour start at 8 pm, and doors usually open 75 minutes earlier.
About Malte Marten
Malte Marten is a handpan artist and composer whose music has reached millions of listeners around the world. His path began in 2014, when he saw a video of the duo Hang Massive. He sold the equipment he owned as a beatmaker and DJ to buy his first handpan, and later played on the streets of Berlin.
From 2015 to 2020 he toured with his former duo, Yatao. Teaching became a passion alongside performing, and the duo gave workshops and retreats and co-founded the YataoShop, a place for people to take their first steps with the instrument. In 2021 the duo's project ended and Malte began his solo work, funding his first solo studio album through crowdfunding. His videos on Instagram and YouTube have since found listeners worldwide. He says he is most moved when people tell him his music has helped them through personal challenges.
The Trio
Conrado Molina brings percussion and voice. Bummela is a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Their parts, like Malte's, are curated to support the feeling of the evening rather than to fill it.
The Venue
Troxy is a restored 1930s cinema in East London. Limehouse and Shadwell stations are a short walk away, which makes the venue straightforward to reach by public transport.
Before You Go
No experience with the handpan or with meditation is needed. All venues on the tour are seated. A handpan is a steel instrument played with the hands, with a warm sound rich in overtones, a little like bells.
Child tickets are available for ages 12 and up, and wheelchair spaces can be arranged with the tour team directly. Your ticket shows the exact start and door times.
The Artist
Malte Marten describes himself as a handpan player at his core, and as a musician, teacher and visionary. His path began in 2014, when he came across a video of the duo Hang…
