Yoga Retreat
Description
The Mallorca Yoga & Music Retreat is a week of Vinyasa and Yin yoga, live Hang music, meditation and conscious communication at Finca Son Sard in Son Servera, on the island's northeast coast in the Balearic Islands. It is led by yoga teacher Dagmar Spremberg, with live music from Gaudan on the Hang. The group is kept to twelve guests, and the retreat suits anyone who wants to slow down, rest and practise in good company, from beginners to long-time students.
What to Expect
Mornings begin with an energizing Vinyasa flow that links movement with breath and builds strength, flexibility and awareness. Evenings turn toward restorative Yin yoga, giving the body time to soften and settle. Gaudan's live Hang music accompanies selected sessions, adding another layer to the practice.
Meditation and conscious communication practices run through the week, along with relationship practices on the art of communication and conscious movement. These leave room for reflection, honest conversation and connection with the others in the group. There is also an optional group hike along the coast, and plenty of unscheduled time to swim, walk, cycle or simply rest. The six nights give the week an unhurried shape.
About Dagmar Spremberg
Dagmar Spremberg is a yoga teacher and international retreat leader based in Mallorca. She has practised yoga for over 30 years. She began with the aim of touching her toes and found that it was more about touching her heart and finding the trust and freedom to live an authentic life. She spent 25 years in Costa Rica, where she built Montezuma Yoga, a studio and retreat business, from the ground up. Her background is in Vinyasa, Anusara Yoga and Yin Yoga, and her main mentors are Elena Brower and Rod Stryker. She graduated from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York in 2006. Her teaching offers inspiration for the heart and connection to the body, and her message is that grief and joy can co-exist and that we can honour our challenges while softening back into beauty. Past guests describe her as gentle, encouraging, grounded and welcoming to beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
About Gaudan
Gaudan plays the Hang live during selected yoga sessions, so the music moves with the practice rather than sitting behind it.
The Setting
The retreat takes place at Finca Son Sard, a historic countryside property with more than 500 years of history. It is a green oasis of almost 11,000 square meters with Mediterranean sea views, old trees, and olives, lemons, oranges and avocados ripening in the gardens. There is a 12 x 5 meter pool, a pool house with a sauna, an outdoor shower and a barbecue area for eating outdoors. The nearest beach is 2.5 kilometers away, and the small town of Son Servera is five minutes by car.
Rooms are each different, and guests choose their own. Options include a double with air conditioning and private bathroom, single rooms with shared bathroom, luxury singles, and luxury suites with private bathroom. Most rooms have their own ensuite. Meals are vegetarian, prepared by a team of professional private chefs.
The finca is about 50 minutes by car from Palma Airport. Renting a car or sharing a transfer with other guests works well, and airport pickup can be arranged on request.
