About This Event

Description

Living Our Sacred Resistance is an online spiritual workshop with author Kaitlin B. Curtice, offered through Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Over two live evenings on Zoom, it draws on her book Living Resistance to ask how sacred resistance can be practiced in everyday life. It is for anyone drawn to indigenous spirituality and contemplative practice who wants to ask how they show up for themselves, their communities, and those who came before them.

What to Expect

The workshop is organized around four realms from Kaitlin Curtice's book: the personal, the communal, the ancestral, and the integral. It runs across two sessions, each from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Eastern, for four hours in total.

The first session turns to the personal and communal realms. It begins with an introduction to the framework of sacred resistance, then moves into loving oneself well and into community care and accountability. Mindfulness practice and journaling anchor the evening.

The second session turns to the ancestral and integral realms. Here the focus is on learning from ancestral wisdom and lineage, then on integration practices for carrying what you have learned more deeply into daily life. There is small-group sharing and reflection, and the evening closes with a ceremony and personal commitments.

Throughout, you can expect mindfulness practices, journaling prompts and exercises, and facilitated small-group conversations. The small groups offer a chance to be heard and to witness others, so the program feels like a shared inquiry rather than a lecture.

About Kaitlin Curtice

Kaitlin B. Curtice is an author and musician. She leads this program from the teachings in her book Living Resistance, and the sessions are grounded in her published work and her own living wisdom.

Where It Takes Place

This is an online program, so you can join from wherever you are. Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, hosts it. Sessions are live on Zoom, with opportunities to interact with the teacher. Kripalu's online programs team offers basic tech support by email before and during the program, and it is wise to test Zoom ahead of time.

Before You Go

No prior experience with mindfulness, journaling, or contemplative practice is needed. The workshop is open to all levels, whether these practices are new to you or already part of your life. It is offered in English.

You will need a stable internet connection, Zoom access, and a quiet space to practice. Having a journal and pen nearby will serve the writing portions.

Your registration includes:

- Two live online sessions via Zoom
- Guided mindfulness practices
- Journaling prompts and exercises
- Facilitated small-group discussions
- Access to video recordings for 30 days after the program ends, available within 72 hours of each session

The program does not include physical materials or a workbook, one-on-one coaching or consultation, or community access beyond the 30-day recording window.

For those who would like to continue in person, Kripalu also offers an on-campus program with Kaitlin Curtice called Sacred Mirrors, which honors powerful stories for ourselves, one another, and Mother Earth.

FAQs

It is an online workshop, not an on-campus program at Stockbridge. It runs live on Zoom across two sessions of two hours each, four hours in total. Kripalu does list a related on-campus program with Kaitlin Curtice, Sacred Mirrors, if you want to be with her in person.
Kaitlin B. Curtice guides participants through the realms of her book, Living Resistance. Reading it beforehand is not stated as a requirement, but it will help you recognize the framework she works from. The aim is to ask how sacred resistance can be practiced in everyday life.
The first session focuses on the personal and communal realms, exploring how we show up to love ourselves and our communities well. The second session turns to the ancestral and integral realms. It holds space to learn from our ancestors and to ask how to integrate what we've learned more deeply into our lives.
The program lists mindfulness practices, journaling, and sharing in small groups. Expect a mix of reflection and conversation rather than a lecture only. Have a notebook and pen ready, and be prepared to speak with other participants.
