Yoga Retreat
Description
Becoming You Yoga Retreat is an eight-day yoga retreat in Bali, led by Erin Widman and moving between the rice terraces of Sidemen and the cliffs of Uluwatu. It suits practitioners who want daily yoga alongside rest, good food and a taste of the island's culture, without having to organize any of it themselves. Classes draw on the Iyengar, Ashtanga and Anusara traditions, and the pace alternates between guided days out and open time to recover.
What to Expect
Each day begins with morning yoga, and most days close with an evening practice or a group dinner. The first evening opens with a circle to meet your fellow travellers, then a yoga session and a welcome dinner. The second day is given over to rest, with a massage and a quiet pace to settle in.
From there the retreat opens outward. One day takes in the temple on the cliffs at Uluwatu, followed at sunset by a traditional fire dance performance and dinner at a local restaurant. Another begins with a deeper yoga workshop and then a full day at Sundays Beach Club, where you can swim, paddleboard, snorkel or simply lie on the sand.
Midway through, the group travels to Ubud, Bali's cultural heart, stopping at the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and spending time in the local shops and markets before continuing to Sidemen. There, a guided light walk through the rice terraces offers a glimpse of traditional Balinese farming life, and it is optional. The seventh day is free for a Balinese massage, the pool or quiet reflection, and ends with a closing circle and a final group dinner.
About Erin Widman
Erin Widman is a yoga teacher and the former owner of The Yoga Experience, a studio in Flagstaff, Arizona, that offered yoga instruction for over 25 years. She has taught since 2000 and has more than 25 years of personal practice. Through Iyengar, Ashtanga and Anusara yoga she has come to value careful alignment, flowing sequence and the strength of heartfelt intention, and she blends all three in her classes. Students can expect strong sequences, thoughtful contemplation drawn from life, and encouragement to discover their own needs and creative expression. She is also the author of Sleeping Bag Yoga: For Hikers, Bikers, and Paddlers.
Where You Will Stay
The seven nights are spent in four to five star accommodation: a hotel near the airport area at the start, then a resort in Sidemen, set among the rice terraces. Rooms are single, twin share or triple share, chosen at booking. Two gourmet meals are served each day, prepared with local ingredients, and breakfast is part of every morning. Group dinners include the welcome dinner and the closing dinner, with several held at local restaurants. The retreat begins and ends at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), and return airport transfers are arranged for you.
