Ayurveda Retreat
Description
The Ayurvedic Massage Rejuvenation Retreat is a weekend Ayurveda retreat at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California, led by Nitya (Hoa Tran). It is meant for anyone who wants to rest, release the weight of daily life and be cared for by practitioners trained in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of healing. It suits people who want a restorative weekend of Ayurvedic massage and body treatments in a quiet ashram setting.
What to Expect
The weekend is built around receiving. The ashram is described as an ideal place to relax, rejuvenate and detoxify, and the program offers guidance and nurturing from specialists trained in Ayurveda. Three kinds of offering make up the weekend:
- Body treatments: hands-on Ayurvedic care given by trained practitioners.
- Consultations: one-to-one guidance on your own constitution and needs.
- Daily workshops: teaching sessions to help you carry Ayurvedic practice home.
The retreat runs as a weekend, and it is offered as an optional add-on to the basic yoga vacation or a personalized self-healing retreat at the ashram. That means you can pair the massage weekend with the ashram's wider daily life of yoga, meditation and meals, and choose the days that fit your calendar.
About Nitya (Hoa Tran)
Nitya (Hoa Tran) leads this retreat and is a regular teacher of Ayurveda at the Yoga Farm. Alongside Omkara, Nitya also teaches the longer Ayurveda for a Good Life Retreat, which presents Ayurveda, the science of life, as a path to healthy living and a lasting sense of wellbeing, and shows how Ayurveda and yoga together support goals both material and spiritual. Nitya also co-leads programs on stress relief and on the four paths of yoga.
The Setting
Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm sits in Grass Valley, in the Northern California foothills. It is a working yoga ashram in the Sivananda tradition, and the retreat takes place within its rhythm of practice and quiet. Meals at the ashram are organic and vegetarian. Guests who want more than the massage weekend can also take part in ashram life, including satsang, which offers silent meditation, chanting and a talk.
Before You Go
No prior experience with Ayurveda is needed; the weekend is about being guided and nurtured by those who know the practice. Because treatments and consultations are arranged with the ashram, it is worth contacting the Yoga Farm ahead of time to ask about availability and how to arrange them.
